Nell has been my "hair artist" since about 2008; got her name from a lady who goes to my moms church. She has got the best work ethic Ive seen in a hair salon. There are two things I specifically enjoy about her; 1) she is willing to go with the flow and let me try new things with my hair. If it isnt something that would completely damage my hair, or make me look stupid, shell let me try it and see for myself if it works. She doesnt push or badmouth my ideas. Nell answers my questions totally and honestly. 2) I moved out of the area four years ago but am in town on occasion. While I try to call her at least a couple of weeks ahead of time, she is always willing to work me in her schedule. I appreciate that so much, that waiting my turn is no issue. Thank you Nell for all you do and the long hours you put in to make women of color look their best ... you are a blessing!

This was my first time going to Nellyville to have my natural hair done. My sister recommended her and it was for my birthday. I must say I am a difficult person to please and have not been to a hair salon in over 6 years or more. The atmosphere is real nice and you feel welcomed when first come in. Nell is great, her knowledge and experience with hair is outstanding and she has a great personality. Decent conversation to help by past the time and efficient work compared to some of the other places Ive been. I didnt think I would ever have a beautician in Des Moines until I met Nell. Thanks for the great experience!

First time bringing my 6 year old here and the barber was excellent weve been to 4 different places all have either cut his ear, was r o igh or totally murdered his lines. The gentleman took his time even though my son was ready to go. This is now going to be our permanent spot for him!! Excellent job and very cheap!!!
