The good - my roof doesnt leak and I paid what was quoted. The bad - I had several issues with the job, starting with them installing cheaper shingles than they quoted. I noticed when they had half of the roof on and so I called the owner. He insisted it was an honest mistake, and it very well may have been. Had I not been there and looked at the packaging, I would have had no way of knowing. He gave me a choice of a partial refund or re-doing it correctly. They had to come back a second day, which required an additional day of vacation to watch them tear off and replace with correct shingles. The winter after the roof was put on, I had to call them back due to a 2" tall snow drift in the attic. His first response was something like "youll have that in old farm houses like that." I sent him pictures and he then agreed that it was an unacceptable amount of snow. As it turns out, I could have stuck a pencil out the gap in the roof. They came out on a warm February day and re-worked the flashing details, again at no charge. Bottom line, I had to watch them like a hawk and there were several things that were done wrong, and in my opinion, completely unfitting of a "Platinum Preferred" contractor. They fixed it all, but overall it was an unpleasant experience.

Hedrick Construction(Shawn and Company) are always very good and consistent in their quality of their products and their work ethics. This is our third job with Hedricks (roof/shingles, window replacement,and now new gutters and leaf X guard). I know if i have a problem, or not fully satisfied with something, Shawn is very willing to solve the problem, that will make it RIGHT for the both of us. Customer and owner of Hedrick Construction. Their attention to detail, expertise of product knowledge and installation is second to none. The work crews have always been kind, hard workers, yet friendly and very willing to explain what they are doing. The work crews do a great job of cleaning up after themselves after the work is completed. I would not have Hedricks set foot on my property, if they were not reputable, high integrity and very honest. This is a rare quality , but thankful that Hedricks has such high standards.

Worse company ever. Hedrick Construction Inc. Back in 2010, we needed a new roof. This company was so unprofessional. They came at 6am, turned on loud music and woke us up, we would leave to go to work and they were all smoking around the building. We asked them to stop the smoking, but they didnt listen. Once the project was over, they left big truck track marks on our lawn that we had to re-sod, cigarette butts on our lawn and driveway, nails in the grass and on the driveway. They would take 3 hour lunches and 4 days to do the job. We called them to come clean their mess, we asked them to fix our lawn, but never heard back from them. I had to get a ziplock back and collect all the butts and nails and mailed it off to them. They never called to apologize or anything. The worse company I have ever dealt with.

So, I found a bowed spot on my roof and needed to find someone to check it out and fix it fast. I called several companys. Hedrick Construction came by the next day and Shawn didnt leave until he explained what he could do and printed and handed me a quote right then and there (pretty cool). I ended up talking to other guys who either couldnt start for months or couldnt even come by and give me a quote for a week. Shawn knew my situation and bent over backwards to help us out. His level of professionalism was very, very impressive. I knew in advance when his team would arrive, what they needed, and when they would finish. His team arrived on time, finished early, and did an excellent job! They were at my house, did the whole roof, and left in 5.5hrs! Overall, Hedrick Construction did a phenomenal job.

When we needed roof replacement from storm damage, Shawn and his team continually impressed us from start to finish! Before the shingles had even arrived to do the work, Shawn himself came out when it rained to seal any holes or gaps to prevent further damage to our roof! Watching his team work was like watching a fine-tuned Swiss watch in action! They were fast and efficient and conscientious about every detail, from protecting the landscaping to safety and cleaning up. In one day, the roofing was done - they even had someone walk around the house with a large magnet to pick up any screws, nails and metal debris. From start to finish, we have been so impressed with this firm and the exceptional management.

We had Hedrick put a new roof on our flat 3 season porch roof along with new gutters, downspouts and debris reflectors. We have consistently had issues with rain not draining properly along the flat roof edge. The water cascades over the gutters and doesnt divert to the down spout. I contacted Shawn and he made it right by replacing all of the gutter and leaf guard. He also followed through with sending a person out to double check the work. Thanks for following through.

Shawns firm resided and roofed my home in Urbandale 4 years ago and I was completely satisfied with the quality of materials and the workmanship. So when it came time to install new windows and doors in 2016 I contacted Shawn and he quickly responded with options and price. He delivered a fair price, high quality windows/doors and exceptional quality of workmanship on time and on target to estimate. Wonderful company and they have integrity. Five stars from me.

They did an excellent job, so we called them again when we needed to fix some siding that was deteriorating due to a manufacturers defect. We had our double detached garage re-shingled 8/9/16 by Hedrick Construction and they did a very good job for a very fair price. The men were experienced and professional, considerate of our requests, and hauled away all old shingles and materials. Great job in cleaning up. We are very satisfied with the results and wouldnt hesitate to use Hedrick again.
