Ive been going there for over 30 years [starting at the old place in downtown Iowa City-- now in 2015 they are moved to a bigger shop a quarter mile east of the Iowa City Wal-Mart on a back road = 436 Ruppert Road, between Highway 1 and the IC airport], and I will continue there for at least the next 30-plus years. They know how to work with you and explain things. Ive never seen them advertise, since word of mouth from experienced customers keeps them plenty busy. Plan ahead, since the only challenge can be the repeat customers that are in line ahead of you jamming the lot and trying to get in the door. That must be why they are advertising to add on extra mechanics to supplement the regular guys who have been around 20 years or so. You might have to wait for an appointment unless your emergency can squeeze you in, but the wait is worth it.

I went there because I saw all these five star comments. However, I didnt feel like the same experience there. One of my front lights was not working and it turned out the control module was bad. They would charge $480 to fix that, which was too expensive for me as a poor student. So I said I need to consider it. Then they charged me $50 just for the diagnostics, which was such a shock to me. Because other auto repair stores never charged me anything when I decided not to have the repair done. I paid the $50 and appreciated their diagnostics. But I think it would be better if they could have communicated the fee with me when I drove in and before they did any diagnostics, thus I could have made an informative decision not to have the check there. Because I just wasted $50 without getting any work done.

Shuttle that actually took me home and then picked me up to get my car later! Even after I was going to take a taxi. The mechanic actually hooked up and read the codes on my car instead of just guessing. Every other mechanic in town I went to wanted to charge me $300-$400 for something unrelated to the actual problem. I payed under $200 and my gas mileage went from 12mpg to 20mpg! I almost didnt believe it. Really good service. Ill be using these guys again. There are too many Mc Repair shops in town. Glad to see that there is still an honest one.

I dont go anywhere else with my car anymore. As a woman it can be hard to find a mechanic that doesnt talk down to you or doesnt overcharge you, and Harapat has never done either. They treat me with respect and have competitive pricing, even if all you need is an oil change. They always call me before doing any work and discuss my options with me. They are also good about fitting me in sooner rather than later, so long as I leave the car all day, which can make all the difference. Thanks Harapat, keep up the great service!!!

Gary was super to work with. I needed something done quick and he was both quick, did quality work, and charged a fair price. Its hard to know who to trust when you havent worked with them before, but this small locally-owned shop is exactly what you need if youre looking for reliable fair-priced service. Oh, and to find the shop on Ruppert Road there was no mention of Lovetinsky on any sign. If you are looking for an address there isnt one thats obvious, just look for the sign that says Harapat.

These guys are really awesome. I cant think of any auto mechanic that is more trustworthy. They are incredibly honest in their assessment of your vehicle and are not looking to make an extra commission; they want what is best for you and your vehicle. In addition to their automobile expertise and honesty, they provide shuttle service to help you get around while your vehicle is in the shop. I recommend this company without reservation.

Ive been here twice and was pleased both times with the quality of service, completion time, and everything they said theyd do was done! Ive been burned a couple of times with our formerly reliable go to repair shop in Mount Vernon which prompted me to look elsewhere. Im glad I found Lovetinsky Harapat!
