Unbelievably poor customer service. Ive probably spent close to $5,000 with this plumbing company over the last 3-4 years because they can usually get out and take care of the issue quickly. Today was the final straw though. They went out to fix a sub pump issue at one of my rentals yesterday which caused the laundry room to flood a bit. I met them at the unit, and we decided to hook the sub pump up into the sewer line because the outside pipe was frozen. The drain was also clogged, and we were talking about that too and the plumber said he didnt know if he would have time to fix the clogged drain. I was thinking to myself that theres obviously a water problem here, and I was a little turned off that he may or may not fix the clogged drain. Then he literally told me he had to quit talking so he could work. I get a call today from a tenant who said water was backing up into their tub from the sub pump. So I call Hawkeye Sewer and Drain to speak with the guy who always answers the phone. Let me tell you a little bit about the guy who always answers the phone. Half the time he tells me that I can go and fix it myself. I have to politely explain to him that I am not a handy man nor am I a plumber nor do I have time to go and fix it myself. Thats why Im calling you, the "plumber", the go and fix my "plumbing" issue. Back to the matter at hand, the guy tells me that they can make a new pipe outside that wont get frozen. So I ask him how it wont get frozen. He then proceeds to interrupt my question and say, "Brian, Brian... you have all the answers so why dont you go fix it yourself." Then he hangs up. Yep, just hangs up on his customer. Other issues youll have with Hawkeye Sewer and Drain: 1. Weve always paid out bills and paid them on time with Hawkeye Sewer and Drain. But when you get their bill they really want to let you know it is "Due on Receipt" because they circle it with a big red circle and they also circle what you owe them with a big red circle. 2. They dont really clean up after themselves after theyve completed the work. 3. The guy who answers the phone has absolutely no idea of how to address a customer or show them respect. One time I told him that I would prefer to get a call after theyve finished, and he was like, "Well theres nothing preventing you from calling us either." I dont know how these guys stay in business. They can get to the problem pretty quickly and usually take care of it. Outside of that, theyre an absolute disaster on the customer service front.

Just had Joey from Hawkeye sewer and drain come by to clean out roots from my 4 inch main line. Scheduling an appointment was very fast and because there was a truck in my area of town was here in very quickly! I already knew the issue was roots in the line from previous experiences and he confirmed that that was the problem and set up his gear. He was very courteous and answered all my questions. Tarps were placed around the area to keep my house clean and he fully cleaned up after himself when he was done. The price was also a good deal less than RR had done a few years ago! Overall the best experience I have had with a sewer company and, though I hope I wont have to, would definitely call them again!

Same-day service. The service person in charge (James) was professional and a quick diagnostician, and his assistant was also polite and helpful; I was told exactly what was wrong and what would be needed to fix it; the work was done promptly and cleaned up so well that, had I not known theyd just cleared my _sewer_ line, Id have walked barefoot around the drain without a second thought. All that, and the price was so reasonable it almost felt a little small, considering how tidy and _gentlemanly_ they were, almost like Id hired someone from Mr. Rogers Neighborhood instead of from a frantic 21st century Monday. I will not hesitate to call Hawkeye Sewer if I need their help again.

We had a tub clog and leaking through our kitchen ceiling on the night before a holiday. They were extremely helpful in asking questions to diagnose the issue and provided guidance over the phone which allowed us to stop the leaking. Because of this we were able to schedule an appointment to fix the clog on a normal business day rather than paying double time that night or during a holiday. They arrived promptly, had everything taken care of within an hour, and charged a price that felt fair to us. They also cleaned up the mess after cutting damaged drywall out of the kitchen ceiling. I would use them again.

Used them for about 8 years. Always left a mess, didnt really mind because they were cheap. Our opinion changed when Hawkeye recommended excavation and line replacement as a last resort for a sewer line backup job (after shooting us a hefty bill). We called in another sewer company for second opinion about excavation. The second company was able to do the job. However, they said it was the worse clog they had ever seen, probably 10 years in the making.. When we told them we have had regular service, they laughed and laughed.

Had the best experience with Hawkeye. Sump pump stopped working and left me with many inches of water in my basement. Jimmy came out fast and with his skill and knowledge knew exactly what to do and addressed the problem quickly. He was also very informative about the situation. I was extremely pleased. Super nice, respectful and courteous. He went above and beyond and made sure everything was in working order before leaving. I am very relieved and again, I cant say enough how pleased I am with Hawkeye. Mia., Iowa City.

Well, I dont know about the other reviewers, but my experience was positive. We had both a really clogged toilet and tree roots in the sewer line. The worker (Jimmy) was helpful and worked fast, and even after everything was working, kept checking other stuff until I was satisfied that it was all how I wanted. The price was very reasonable, too; less than what I paid for the other guys I had used before.

The absolute worst service I have ever received! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! The guy came out, made an enormous mess of our office bathroom and left my office manager and other staff members to clean up, stating " I didnt think you wanted to pay me for more time to clean it all up". On top of it, I had to call today to have another plumber come out because three weeks later, I have the smae issues again!

My kitchen sink pipes were leaking and in need of replacement. I called and made an appointment the same day! The service from Billy was friendly, quick, and informative. I ask a lot of questions and they didnt hesitate to give an honest opinion. Highly recommended!

Superbowl Sunday and of the 3 people we called, they were the nicest and most willing to come out. He came when he said he would, explained the issue, and took care of it in 5 minutes. I would have paid more for the quality of service we got. Very, very pleased.
