Service manager(Robert) is rude and completely unprofessional. Refused to shake my hand when I arrived and introduced myself, when I inquired if he ever worked with the guys from the south side location I usually go to, he went off the deep end and said "I hope I never have to work with Gene again"- serious as a heart attack. He tried grilling me and getting confrontational about me not having a Tires Plus credit card, to which the only thing to shut him up was my response of "dont question someone who has an 800+ credit score as to why they cancelled your credit card". This was my first time here and definitely my last. Glad I mainly worked with Tom over the phone as he is quite nice. Nothing will compensate for the dick in charge though. I had a candid discussion with Gene from army post road. I called and told him how I thought Jim from army post road store recommended where I was tonight and because we had the recommendation and now live in WDSM, I went there for a brake job. I told him of what transpired and heard the anguish in his voice. He kept apologizing. I told him no need, just want to know what my options are on where to go and he went through them with me... Robert needs to job shadow Gene to see how to do the job the right way! I let Gene know that I will continue coming to the South store for the awesome service and professionalism even though its no longer convenient. Well worth the drive!

I have a complaint. I had a howling sound coming from my front end. Since I am just a driveway mechanic I wanted to get it diagnosed before I fixed it myself. I was sure it was a pinion bearing though in the front dif. I took it to the West Des Moines store because it was close. I shouldnt have because the google reviews for this store were terrible particularily the customer service. They came back and said I had a bad passenger front u joint and said they would fix it for 260. When I took it in I gave them no indication that I thought it was a bearing. Well problem is I just replaced that u-joint 6 months earlier. It was brand new and they said that was the problem!!!! I asked to speak to the mechanic and he said no!!! I couldnt believe it. 20 dollars later I took it the jeep dealership and they stated that U-joints were perfect and guess what, they stated I had a bad pinion bearing like I figured. I am just a driveway mechanic and I suspected this. These guys are supposed to be certified and they tell me a bad ujoint that was just replaced? Read the reviews on this store. It seriously needs some new management or something. I have always bought my tires at tires plus and even have a tires plus credit card. Because of this store, I am canceling my card and will never use Tires Plus again. Please, someone look into this store and fix what is going on there or more customers will be lost.

These people are so disorganized - they simply have no idea what they are doing. I had made an appointment with them to get my oil changed at 2:00 this afternoon. I even dropped it off a little bit early. I went back after 4:00 and they had not even started on it yet, but if I was willing to sit around and wait all evening, they could start on it after ten more minutes. I never did get a good idea as to why they didnt do my oil change. The rather confused individual working the front desk tried to tell me they didnt have the right type of bay available. You would think they might take equipment availability into consideration when they do the scheduling, but whatever. Then his story changed, and someone called in sick today, blah blah blah. He had no idea what he was talking about, and I think he simply forgot about my car. My whole point in making the appointment was so that I could get this done without having to sit around all evening waiting. I am an hourly employee and dont get paid for my time off work, so it is a big deal when I take a full day off to run errands and then something important like my auto maintenance simply ... doesnt get done. I will never go back to that place again. In this economy I dont know how any company can stay in business when it is that rude and grossly incompetent.

I just returned from this tires plus location and was compelled to log in and write a review ASAP in hopes of saving someone else the headache I am now going through. First off, I printed an online quote for my vehicle and printed it off and took it in, as instructed by the website, to get that price. The employee at the store tells me its all wrong and charge me $150 more than my quote. Ok fine, then he tells me itll be finished in 1 hour. 3 1/2 hours later I see my car exit the service garage, so I think "finally, I can get out of here". Oh no. The employee then tells me one of the mechanics scraped my car against the wall of their garage and low and behold theres a big scrape across my front bumper that wasnt there 3 1/2 hours earlier. I am now in the process of working with the Tires Plus liability/claims department and have to fax them 2 estimates so they will cut me a check for the repair shop with lowest estimate. I am now anticipating my new tires to explode after 100 miles or so. Thanks for nothing Tires Plus in West Des Moines. There should be a sign on the door that says "ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK". I guess buyer beware, I shouldve read the review earlier on here about all the problems this place has.

Thank you all for your reviews, I am from des moines but have moved to SC am back for a family emergency so 3,000 miles later I am needing to get my oil changed before making the 1,100 mile drive back this location is close to our hotel and advertise $22.95 synthetic oil change so was going to schedule an appointment for an oil change while needing to stay on a tight timed schedule to be back on the road to go back to South Carolina, we had major problems on the first drive there (had flywheel, tie rod, starter, and catalytic converter) replaced after AZTEC MOTORS in des moines on se14th st sold us a lemon but did not inform us of any issues and did not find out until we broke down in Kodak Tennessee which worked out because the tow truck driver to the Ford dealership were all amazingly honest people got us running until we made it to our destination in south Carolina where we took it to a Ford dealership and had it all covered under MBPI extended warranty... Needless to say with your reviews you obviously saved us a major headache and possibly an empty bank account if something was done wrong and wound up breaking down again mid 1100 miles... SO long story short thank you.
