This is a terrible place to buy computer parts. They seem to be willing to tell you flat out lies to sell their inventory. For example, they might tell you a certain part is the latest model, just because they dont have the latest model and need to sell what they have. This is what happened to me. I bought a video card from them and at the time it was their 2nd most expensive card in the store. You would think that less than a year later they would still have this card right? When I needed support I called them and not only do they not carry that card anymore, they told me it was outdated a year ago. Did they tell me that when I bought it? No, in fact they told me it was the latest version card of that brand. That was a bold faced lie. $340 on an outdated card, and the Owner was a complete jerk on the phone. When I mentioned that I spent over $2100 cash that day on a whole new machine, he let me know how unimportant I was compared to his customers that spend $21,000 a day. Good customer service, right? Wrong. In conclusion, If you want to overpay, want to be lied to, want to be treated like crap, and deal with terrible customer service/support, then Computer Outlet might be the place for you. For anyone sane, just shop online. Youre much better off...unless youre one of the ones who spends $21,000 a day at Computer Outlet, then I guess youll get good service.....maybe. Edit: In further research I found out the model card they sold me was over 1.5 years old. There had been 19 newer models, of which atleast 7-8 had better specs at around the same MSRP. They also sold me a motherboard designed for Overclocking and a processor that cannot be Overclocked. The prices on pretty much every part I bought from them were not competitive. They were high, very high. So if you do decide to go to this store, please please know what you want/need and how much it costs at other places, before buying anything here. The salesman completely took advantage of my lack of knowledge and there is no reason he wouldnt do the same to you. The owner is beyond unreasonable too, so if you buy from this place and have issues, good luck with that. You were warned. From one ripped off guy, trying to save the next guy, have a good day!

Ive been in the computer/tech industry for over 15years now. The first PC I built was an 8086. For years I was a consultant for may businesses here in the Louisville area, and when I needed parts or a pc, I went Computer Outlet. Need a stick of ram, they have it. Need a cpu, yep. Video card, heck yah. Need a hdmi to display port connector, they had them. I needed a micro-hdmi to hdmi cable, they had them. Saved my butt for a presentation. Gary(the owner) has always been helpful and fair. Hes even gone as far as doing the research for a monitor I needed for a project. He went out of his way to help me out, and he did. A friend of mine started his own business, he buys all his PCs from here. Hes had 0 problem out of them. You can walk in, tell Josh or Ian what you need, theyll work up a quote, if you wish to purchase it, they will have it custom built (at no extra charge) in a day. The builds are clean with nice cable management. Im now an IT manager for a local company, and I buy everything I need from Computer Outlet. Ive bought laptops, switches, access points, hard drives, power supplies, cpus, everything. The reviews from fanboys that feel the need to post their expertise, when honestly, the only knowledge they have is some opinions they read about on some blog. Ive bought PNY video cards and used them in cad machines. There is nothing wrong with them. They still have an nvidia gpu, just like an evga. While PNY doesnt have as good a reputation as EVGA, their cards are fine. In short -- Computer Outlet is an honest, good, local company. Owned and operated by a good, honest, man. Josh and Ian have always been helpful, and knowledgeable. Theyve gone above and beyond to help me in more than 1 instance... and for that, I will always support Gary, the staff, and the business.

I called computer outlet to discuss having them build a video editing PC for me. I asked if they have someone knowledgable in this area on staff whom I might speak with. The person who answered the phone said that he was the guy. When I began to describe the details of the hardware I wanted and the software I would be running, the individual cut me off and asked a couple of very basic questions about performance parameters (indicating a lack of knowledge about the subject) and then abruptly told me to e-mail them and they would provide me a quote -- without ever asking what software I would be running (which is essential for knowing video card to install, which in turn is essential for knowing what motherboard to use as well as the best capture device). When it was obvious that this person did not know enough to assist me, I asked to speak with the manager -- at which point he said he didnt have what I was looking for and hung up. When I called back, the same person (Indian accent) identified himself as the manager and owner of the store and began telling me that I wasnt a customer and he didnt have to assist me. Well I suppose if hes really the owner and manager, hes right. I understand that everyone sometimes has a bad day and he may have been under some sort of stress. But if the customer service is anything like the public relations, I cant imagine the difficultly one might face if this company ever took your money for something and then you had a problem later. The lack of knowledge and professionalism I encountered on the phone is enough to scare me away from this company.

The best computer shop in Louisville. Ive been to many different shops in the Louisville area, none of which have been able to serve my wide variety of computer needs as much as Computer Outlet has and for as long as they have. I began soliciting their services back in 1997 when I worked for my first tech consulting company. I was so pleased with the service Gary and his staff provided that I sent them everyone in need of computer service. I took their business to each new job over the years. I purchased computer lab equipment for the university, saving them a lot of money and gaining local support. Gary takes pride in his business and his employees. He is happy to serve if you dont dishonor him, his business, or his people. He and his staff treats people fair and I am proud to be his customer and consider him to be a colleague and friend. I hope to continue doing business with him for years to come.

Ive been coming to computer outlet for 10 plus years. I prefer them over most stores in town. Not only have I been using them as a consumer when I was younger but I continue to use them as a computer repair business owner. Ive been working with Gary (the owner) and his staff through the entire 10 years and I can say without a doubt that Gary is one of the most knowledgable hardware guys in town. Hes an honest guy running a honest business! My company and I will continue to use their products for many years to come. Normally I don’t bother leaving reviews for companies on google but after reading one of the past reviews left by a unsatisfied potential customer. I can say without a doubt that the past comment made couldnt be further from the truth and its your loss if you decide not to use their products or services!
