I had (and as of 6/5/2013 it is not yet resolved) MAJOR problems with Highland Automotive. The owner, Dwain Fiaschetti, had my car for over 6 months, charged me $3,100 for work that was not done, and yelled and threatened to fight me during my final attempt to get an explanation and reimbursement. What follows is an abbreviate account of what happened. My 2007 Mini Cooper S was towed to the Mini dealer in December where they quoted $2,800 for a new timing chain assembly, a new computer, and the accompanying labor. I called Highland Automotive, told the owner exactly what repairs I needed, and asked for an estimate. The owner stated he could do the same work as the Mini dealership for $400 to $500 less. The "work" was finally completed last week, but now Dwain tells me there is a problem with the fuel rail and it will cost at least another $1,000 to repair. I also learned he had sent my car to a different shop - Automotion - for some of the repairs! He NEVER requested my permission to do this and I was completely unaware that any work was being done at Automotion. Distrustful of Highland Automotive, I decide to take the car back to the Mini dealer for a second opinion. When I picked up the car at Highland, the price was not the original that we agreed upon and Dwain refused to give me an itemized invoice of parts and labor. After being asked, he confirmed the timing chain assembly had been replaced and the computer had been replaced and programmed. He said the timing chain worked "great" and the warranties for those parts were with the Mini dealership. He reiterated the car was running badly because of the fuel rail, but the car was safe to drive as long as I stayed "off the interstate." He drove it from Automotion back to Highland Automotive he said and "had no worries" when he did so. I took the car directly to Mini. Yesterday, I met with their mechanic who showed me the timing chain assembly clearly was not replaced and the computer installed was not programmed. Additionally, an extra bolt was laying in the engine, there was debris in the oil pan from broken parts, and many components were not reassembled correctly. In the words of the mechanic, the car is a "hot mess." To illustrate the significance of the misrepresentations by Highland Automotive consider the following. My original estimate from the Mini Dealearship, before I ever took my car to Dwain, was $3,309, minus diagnostic fees. On June 3, 2013, I paid Highland Automotive $3,173. Now, Im being told almost all of the work Dwain claims to have done was not in fact done; to have that work completed, plus new diagnostic fees and programming of the computer, I will have to spend at least $2000. The only thing I asked Highland Automotive to do that they actually did was install a new computer, a part costing $1,194.52. So, I guess I can give them credit for ordering a computer and bolting it to my car. I hope Dwain will do the right thing and at the very least reimburse me for the over $1,700 in misrepresented labor charges. Otherwise, I am filing a claim with the BBB and pursuing legal action. I attempted to talk with Dwain and resolve this matter in person and that resulted in him shouting, threatening to fight me, and screaming that I leave his office. He gave conflicting information about what work was or was not done and his last comments today were that he only charged me for "five hours of labor" and that I "never needed a new timing chain." I hope no one else will have to experience what I have experienced. Do not take your car to Highland Automotive. If you have already taken your car to Dwain, I strongly suggest you have a different mechanic re-check the work that was allegedly done. Thanks, Loren D. Pilcher

Great experience! Took my car to a shop and was told I needed numerous "parts" just short of a total engine rebuild for an intermittent miss I was experiencing. A friend suggested giving Highland Automotive a call to look at my car so I scheduled an appointment. I dropped my car off and within 2 hours received a phone call with a very detailed and comprehensive diagnosis of what my problem was and what it would cost to fix. Apparently there were some faulty sensors that were causing my issues. I agreed to the work and was told I could pick the car up at 5:00 p.m. that day. I showed up a little early (4:30) and my car was ready to go. Actually the final bill was Less than I was originally quoted so that was really nice. My car has been trouble free and it was great to finally find an honest shop that repaired my car for a fraction of the price that the first shop was wanting. Finding Highland Automotive has been a great experience and from now on these are going to be my go to guys for any car repairs.

I had my car towed here with what ended up being a pretty obvious head gasket leak. Highland auto, however, insisted on changing my spark plugs out for the top of the line model at a secret 50% upcharge for parts! Only when pressed on the outrageous cost of plugs, after they started to put them in without contacting me, would the owner fess to his underhanded grab. That was after he tried to say they were the exclusive OEM part (not true). I guess I was spoiled by my honest mechanic in Ohio, who later informed me that the obvious leak was the trouble, and again it had ruined my plugs, which I am sure Highland auto would have changed again...

I saw this place the other day by my work and thought I would try them today for my oil change. The place looked packed and I was concerned there was a wait. They told me there was no wait, and took me right away. I am always looking for that good value and customer service in auto places especially since I am a female, and Highland Automotive has it all. They were quick, nice and well-priced. I got my oil change and new windshield wipers and it was under $100 for everything. I’ll continue to use them from here on out. Thanks!

Our older Honda Accord had multiple body and mechanical problems, which other people were saying could not be fixed or could be fixed at some outrageous price. Highland Automotive did the job (Needed a new door handle and mechanism, and window and window mechanism and work on brakes) for a very reasonable fee and had it ready in a couple of days. They talked to us about every decision, and were respectful and professional. I will certainly take vehicles there in the future.

I have two high maintenance vehicles, a Mercedes and a Land Rover. Highland has taken care of both for several years. Close attention to detail and specific estimates are provided so I can decide let’s do that now or let’s let that wait. I have recommended them to several friends. I first learned of them by a recommendation.
