I visited this salon for the first time and this is the worst place that I have EVER been to!!! Ive had my hair done in Laicale in NY to Perez Salon & Spa in the DC Metro Area but being that we just relocated to the Fells Point area, I decided to try this salon. After reading the only review, I decided to give them a chance. I quickly became very SORRY. First of all, the guy who washed my hair didnt know what the HELL he was doing. He didnt know how to wash hair, how to condition, how to rinse to the point that my hair was worse when I left than when I came in! The OWNER herself didnt know what she was doing. Put it this way, would you want your hairstylist to offer you champagne or beer and wash your hair even BEFORE she puts a robe on you??? Yeah sure, lets get you tipsy and wet and have your hair dripping while you wait for me, but its okay, have some champagne!!! I told this woman specifically, I want some long, soft layers that will frame my face...It was PRETTY BAD, I guess it made the situation worse because I KNOW exactly what Im looking for. To make a long story short, she DIDNT KNOW how to layer, then she accussed me of having THICK hair ---which of course was because the IDIOT who washed and conditioned it basically was CRAP, and then she TEASED-yes, youre reading right, she TEASED my hair to a beahive!!! Oh my goodness, it was so bad that I had to grab her spraybottle, wet my hair, blow dry it by myself and style it all while shes standing right there. On top of it, she went on and on about how she hasnt been sleeping for days because she wants to lose weight but she doesnt know how to so all she can do is CRY because she doesnt know where to start and all the healthy foods taste like CRAP then she ordered something greasy to be delivered to the salon. MOST TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE EVER---IF YOURE READING THIS LADY, YOURE IN THE WRONG BUSINESS!!! DO YOURSELFA FAVOR, PAY A COUPLE MORE DOLLARS AND GO TO A REAL HAIRSALON NOT THIS HELL HOLE THAT SHOULD BE A PUB INSTEAD OF A SALON. SHAME ON YOU!!!

First off, Im new to Fells Point - moved from Los Angeles, so I was used to my long-time stylist in LA. Like many folks, I read the comments in here, the good and the bad and figured I would take into account what everyone had posted. The good reviews are extremely positive, but I couldnt help but read those negative comments. But I have to say, they seemed a bit far-fetched that I couldnt help but question if someone was maliciously writing those comments out of spite. The reason I still think this is because the first 2 negative comments almost have the same wording about the highlights fading and roots showing - its really UNLIKELY to have roots show up in a matter of days, actually nearly impossible. Anyway, obviously the good reviews outweighed the bad - so I went in for a hair cut. I was offered a drink upon my arrival - the ladies were sweet, Virginia is the owner and she has a couple helpers with her. Besides their hospitality, I was extremely pleased with my cut, but the best part was that Virginia made sure to ask me several times if I was happy with it - she made it clear she wanted me to be fully satisfied with my cut. She welcomes feedback, and seemed to really care about my needs. The interesting part was that there was this lady getting her highlights done, -- and guess what? They came out perfectly, Virginia also made sure to ask this woman several times if she liked the color. Again, she made sure this client walked away fully content. Anyway, the prices are great and so is the staff. As for the hair stylist, shes pretty awesome. Im glad I took a chance.

Above and Beyond : More than just a GREAT haircut. This salon is fantastic for countless reasons. Primarily, the skill level is all that is important to me when finding the right salon. Studio 1622 has it down. Virginia had been doing my hair for a year and half. But beyond giving me confidence by keeping my hair EXACTLY like I like, the girls got me through break ups and relocations, and even showed me a good night on the town in Baltimore. The consistency is priceless, but the price is reasonable. In fact, Virginia has made suggestions to save me money. This staff has recently gone above and beyond. I recently moved to Chicago, and when my worse fear came true - Studio 1622 once again saved me. My newest hair dye in the windy city was terrible. I called Virginia and she suggested I send her pictures. Virginia sent me feed back to direct the next stylist with to get my color where she knows (and always remembers) I like it. This is genuine service, great skill, untouchable friendships. Best place in MD, hands down. GO THERE, tip well! ... and the rest of the clientele is always attractive ......

I have tried several salons in Baltimore, and after going to Studio 1622, my search is over. As a blonde, its hard to find the perfect color to touch-up highlights, but Angel did it flawlessly. She weaved in the color so that when my roots grow out they will blend in to the color instead of growing out in a straight line. In addition, Angel took the time to show me how to do an up-do for an upcoming formal event. The cut was also perfect, and she was incredibly gentle with my easily tangled hair. Both of my roommates, also picky blondes, are going to her now bc of how much they loved my hair. She is newer to the business, so is looking for more clients! Finally, the environment at Studio 1622 perfect--you can talk if you want, or you can just sit back and relax. They also have a great complimentary tea selection, and their prices are reasonable. Definitely try them out!

I was new in town and went to this salon based on the reviews I read here. I went there looking for a simple trim and touch up on my highlights. HUGE MISTAKE. My hair came out brassy and yellow, and 2 days later my roots were so noticeable it was ridiculous. Also, she made my side swept bangs all choppy and frayed that the hair looked damaged. I had to wear a headband for the rest of the week at work to hide the ridiculous wig-looking hair, then that weekend immediately drove up to NY to get it fixed. My stylist could not believe what she had done...she said there were about 4 different colors in my hair and that it was basically orange underneath. Im really not one to write mean reviews but I feel like I need to warn people like me who are new in the area and trying to find a stylist. They were very nice but it was a huge waste of money and time for me.

I went there, and yes, it doesnt look fancy inside, but its clean and the atmospeare is warm and friendly, its more like mom and pop place. Virginia, the owner, is a very nice lady. But most important, she does a great job for less than half money you would pay in high-end salons. My highlights came out very good, and what most importaant for me she was the first hairstylist ever who did not cut my hair too much. im trying to let my hair grow very long, and it seems to be every hairstylist weekness: when they trimmer it, they tend to cut too much of the lengs, so I was never able to grow them. but Virginia has done a great job with them, made them look healty and didnt cut them off to much. The price amazed me the most, 85$ for partial highlights ,haircut and blowdry! I would definitly highly recomend virginia and her salon.
