We got married here in 2010. It was nice, food was nice but they double booked and so our ceremony was cut short and we never actually said "I do" because the other larger wedding party was staring at us. They then started using plastic throw away cups during our reception nearly halfway through because again, the bigger party used all the dinnerware. Finally, they told our dj to wrap up an hour prior to when we actually paid for. Its not like our wedding was very small. We had 125 people, but obviously we were not who they cared about, being that we also couldnt take pictures until it was nearly dark because the 200 person wedding took nearly till dusk. Also, to take our fotos, we got shoved off to the side on a finger pier. Now, back to our first trip back in half a decade. We stopped in last night as we were nearby and figured why not. Typically the Rod and Reel has pretty good food! They have really changed the place and I am guessing its because they were allowed to get mkre slot machines since Maryland changed the laws on gambling. They did close down the BBQ joint, Smokey Joes. We get seated by a window which was nice, but then realized there were a ton of flies. Not normal flies that fly around the water areas and outdoors, but the smaller sewage flies. Blech! After getting the menu, we realized the place double and tripled in price. They removed some stuff as well. NY strip is $40. Rockfish is $30. Crab Cake is $25. Appetizers were $8-15. Ok whatever, maybe they upped the quality on the food. We ordered a Crab Cake and the Rockfish. It comes out and it looks really good. Theres one problem, its tiny. By tiny, I mean the crab cake is half the size of a typical Maryland Crab Cake and my Rockfish was about 3x4". The Mashed Potatos were ok, nothing to write home about, but they were homemade. My wifes Brussel sprouts were ok, and I got wild mushrooms there were pretty good but there, again was maybe a 1/4 of them. My rockfish was really delicious so I will give it that. They are trying to make it comlete with places in Ocean City, but its not on the ocean, and its really not worth the price. 45 mins further south and you can go to Solomons Island and there are a few places to eat that are the same type of food for half the price, better atmosphere, and not only more food, but it blows the Rod and Reel right off the map in the flavor department. Finally, our waitstaff was very kind and courteous, but that has never been a problem at the Resort.

We made reservations to stay over the July 04 holiday 2017. I have to say we were extremely disappointed with our experience. The main issue that we were upset with is that the pool was not functional. The whole reason that we decided to visit this establishment was the indoor pool. I even called the resort before booking the room to inquire and make sure there actually was a functional a pool. I got confirmation from whomever I spoke to over the phone. It took us about an hour to drive down and check in just to find out that the pool was not functional and wouldnt be for days due to waiting for parts. Im extremely frustrated that I made the effort to call and speak with the staff specifically about the pool and was given no indication that it wasnt working. The second issue is that I booked a water view room and was given a room on the second floor with a view of a pile of kayaks and storage for the hotel. Maybe on a higher floor that room has a water view but we basically had a view of the maintenance area. In addition, the room was extremely noisy and your staff was not particularly pleasant during the check-in process. I understand that everyone has bad days but both women working the evening of July 03 were unfriendly and made us feel like we were getting in their way. We tried to eat dinner in the restaurant the evening of July 03. The restaurant was not even half full and we were told there was a 20 minute wait and that we could wait in the bar or game rooms. The game room was basically just a small over crowded area full of slot machines. It was very hot and pretty depressing. We then decided to leave because we were very uncomfortable walking through this area to try and find a place to sit. However there were very few options for restaurants in this area other than one sports bar further down the strip and a Mexican restaurant further up in North Beach. The only redeeming point was that we were able to leave in the morning, but its really frustrating that we paid a resort fee for the less than 24 hours we were there for amenities that didnt work. I even reached out after our stay to the hotel manager and never received a response to my concerns. I have to say this was our first experience with this hotel and we were very hopeful after some of the promotions wed been seeing about Chesapeake/North Beach but I really dont see us ever coming back.

I enjoyed my first visit to Chesapeake Beach however I was very disappointed that there was a fee to utilize the beach. With a hotel name that advertizes "beach" within the actual hotel name, it is misleading that there are no accomodations for hotel guests to utilize the beach via a discount or waived fee. It would really enhance the experience of staying at your resort if your organization took on the task of arranging beach accomodations for paying hotel guests. It would be much appreciated Im sure by many former and future patrons. Additionally, the staff for the most part was friendly - but when we arrived our room was not ready and the woman told us some things we could do while the room was being prepared (one of which was attending the beach - though she did not inform us it would be $12/per person). We asked for a towels for the two of us since we couldnt get them from our room and she would only give us 2 (though we asked for 4) which really wasnt hospitible because there was no reason for not accomodating our request for 4. Otherwise, I enjoyed the wedding I attended and didnt let those minor moments impact my stay too much - thought it started the trip with a bit of a bad note. I would definitely want to come back to give the resort another chance (it may have just been a bit off because of the busy / sold out weekend).

AVOID THIS PLACE (DIRTY!!!). My g/f and I Were in the area and wanted to enjoy an evening together in a nice suite with a jacuzzi. This was on a Sunday evening, the place was dead and all rooms seemed vacant. After our experience in spending over $300 for a jacuzzi suite I would fair to say no matter season and day this hotel is never crowded! When we first got to our first jacuzzi suite we filled the jacuzzi, turned on the jets and put in body wash into the jacuzzi tub. Well after about 20 minutes in the jacuzzi we noticed a ton of brown grime/dirt rising to top of jacuzzi water. We quickly exited the jacuzzi, drained the water and checked out the jacuzzi jets. We noticed tons of grime and dirt in all the jacuzzi jets. We complained to management and they gave us a new jacuzzi suite but that's suite jacuzzi jets were even more filthy. We went to a 3rd suite and witnessed the filthiest jacuzzi and housekeeping didn't throw away old food from previous guest in the fridge. This place ruined what we would had hope to be a fun adult night for the both us. Other reviews of this place all state similiar issues. We say stay away from this dive ( looks nice until you realize they slack off on the important things like cleanliness)
