Cruising west on MD32 five miles short of I-70, 25 minutes into my commute home, 90 minutes to go. That was the EMERGENCY BEEP I just heard. As my eyes drop from the road to the instrument cluster, flashing through my mind: not cold enough for the cold warning; I just put oil in the engine, maybe windshield washer water is low; and then I saw the word COOLANT. Eyes dashed to the thermostat. It was pegged full right!! Maybe a malfunction? Good wide berm here. Pull over. Stop quickly. Shut engine off. Is that steam or smoke bellowing out the side of the hood?! Investigation reveals radiator fluid sprayed inside the engine compartment and puddling on the ground. Two and a half hours later the tow truck finally arrived. They are taking me to Hillmuth’s in Clarksville. I’ve learned they close at 6pm and tow truck is going to get me there after six. This is not going to be a pleasant night. What is wrong with my 14 year old BMW? Where am I going to stay tonight? How will I get there? Arriving about 6:10pm, the light is on in the Hillmuth office. Doug, Mike, and Scott are there. They let me in; hear my story. While Mike and I discuss options about me getting a rental car so I can drive home, Scott calls BWI to make a reservation because the local car rental places are already closed. But, how will I get there? No problem, Doug, the owner, will give me a ride. Holy cow! Service above and beyond the call of duty. At rental car check in the clerk asked the obligatory question, “How was your flight?” Ah, doesn’t apply in my case. Four hours late, I finally arrived home. Inspection revealed a failed radiator. For the past 18 months the wife believes I have put too much repair money into my BMW that has 227,347 miles on it. It’s going to salvage. Bye bye Beamer. ;-(( Hillmuth is not close to my home, but if I ever have a car issue and I am close, I will definitely being going there. After hours service for me saved my sanity that night. Thank you. THANK YOU. Tom Patterson, Middleburg, VA

I have been going to Hillmuth Automotive in Clarksville since I got my first car 17 years ago. My family relocated to California and moved back to the East Coast a month ago. After driving cross country I took my car to Hillmuth for its 60,000 mile service 3,000 miles early because of the trust I have built up with them (we were leaving the next week for our final destination in Florida). I was originally quote at $1800 for a 60000 mile service. After speaking to them they said that I didnt need all of the maintenance they suggested and could get me out the door at $1100. I called a local Subaru department with the quote that Hillmuth gave me to make sure I was comparing "apples to apples" and the Subaru dealer gave me a quote over $400 less then Hillmuth. I know that Hillmuth provides top notch service, there is no denying that, but they completely lost my trust (this was not a $100 difference in price that I would happily have paid for trusted service). I now am thinking I may have been grossly overpaying or the past 17 years. One of the new managers told me that Terry, one of the managers I bought my first pair of tires from all those years ago, would call me the following Monday but I never received a call. I paid $100 for my oil change (yes $100 synthetic oil change that that a Subaru dealership chargers $60) and told them to take it off the lift. I am very sad and disappointed to say that I wont be returning to Hillmuth after all of these years. The cost difference is not worth the service.

Dealing with car issues always makes me cringe. Will I get the attention I need? Will they be sure to check out all my issues? Will they try to take advantage of me because I am a woman? I can honestly say Hillmuth totally earned my loyalty this week!! I stopped by last Saturday without an appointment with kids in tow. They not only helped me but did so with a smile on their face. They added coolant to my car with no expense to me and the kids and I were in and out with time to spare to get to our playdate on time. When I had to return the next day due to the same issue - We discovered a big leak in my water pump - - no wonder the car seemed to keep saying check coolant. While I wish this time was free I was really pleased with the attention to detail I received. I felt the repair was completed timely and the whole time I didnt feel strong armed or bullied just because I am a woman. The original estimate turned out to be higher than the job actually cost and I was left to pay less than I originally intended. To top all that off my repair earned points in their new app so my next oil change will be free. I cant say strongly enough how much I appreciate this "car repair place" right down the street. Way to go Hillmuth.

I have spent several saturdays with Hillmuth lately and have been really pleased with their service. The first weekend was maintenance all around - brakes, oil change etc. They did a great job, explained why they recommended each service and even came in under budget! The next 2 Saturdays were to fix something "fixed" by the dealer 16 months ago. The part broke and since the dealer only has a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty, it wasnt covered anymore. Hillmuth did the work cheaper and offered a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty!! They are terrific and really explain what needs to be done. I highly recommend both the Clarksville and Columbia locations!

I HAVE A VAN (1995) AND A VERY LOW MILEAGE NEWER KIA. BOTH VEHICLES HAVE BEEN IN THE VERY CAPABLE HANDS OF THE HILLMUTH TEAM IN CLARKSVILLE FOR A NUMBER 0F YEARS. I HAVE SERVED IN THE MARINE CORPS AND MUCH TRAVELED IN OSD FOR 4O YEARS. I AM NOW DISABLED; HOWEVER, I AM STILL VERY ACTIVE AND NEED MY VEHICLES MAINTAINED AND AVAILABLE. THANKS TO MIKE BARNES AND HIS TEAM, SOMETIMES, MY CAR REQUIRING SERVICE IS PICKED UP BY HILLMUTH AT MY HOME AND, AFTER FIRST CLASS SERVICE, FIXED, AND RETURNED TO ME ASAP BY HILLMUTH. We took our Honda Pilot in for an AC service. We were charged $2000.00 only to have the AC system begin to blow warm several weeks later. We returned and they added more refrigerant without determining the reason for the leak. The AC is still not working and well within the repairs warrantee. Hillmuth wants more money to find and repair the problem all over again. Really? They performed both the diagnostic and repair. They should stand behind both. Hillmuth is not interested in customer satisfaction. They charge dealer prices but do not stand behind their work.
