First let me say that the people in this shop was very polite. However, the young lady with a beautiful voice who started my hair appeared and acted half interested in having to braid my hair. Granted she shared she was tired in which they should have replaced her with someone who showed more interest. The parts in my hair are extremely to spacious and big. I see more scalp then braids. My hair should look full but it dont. I have had the First and worst experience ever as far as getting my hair braided in all my years of living.. I recently had a bad experience with frontal lace that messed up my edges completely but my hair it self was good. I didnt want my micros tied in a knot because its hell when trying to take them out. In addition, the other lady who assisted appeared to know what she was doing but later seemed to have a issue when Im asked her to correct somethings that was not done to my satisfaction and should have been done correctly from the start by the young lady. Im very disappointed. Some of my braids in the back was not fully braided down and some of them would have remained shorter than the front and side the other lady was doing if I had not spoken up about it. It seems like MD is out of the ? For me getting my hair braided here again. To pay the price that I paid was an understatement and I only paid because the ladies did stand/sit for hours to complete a crappie job. Unfortunately, I could never go back here nor recommend anyone to try them.

After reading all of the great reviews, I decided to give this shop a try just because of the ratings and reviews... I called to make an appt with Bridgette for Sunday, 5/14/17, however, she was not going to be available so she referred me to and made me an appointment with Nicole. I explained that I didnt want anyone heavy handed and she assured me that I would be in good hands. Bridgette was so sweet and you can tell that she has a love and passion for what she does. I got my hair braided on this past Sunday by Nicole and needless to say she is everything Bridgette said. Nicole was so friendly, pleasant, and gentle and you can also tell she has a passion for what she does. I called today, 5/16/17, and had to go back today to get 3 braids tightened for what I thought was kinda loose, but when I got there Nicole and Bridgette explained that they did not want to pull my hair too tight. The end result, Nicole re-did my 3 braids and touched up a few additional braids with no attitude, hesitation or problem... I love my braids and I will definitely be back!! Thank you Bridgette and Nicole!!

THIS IS THE WORST SHOP IN THE WHOLE DMV. THIS BY FAR HAD TO BE MY WORST EXPERIENCE IN A BRAID SHOP. EVERY REVIEW I READ WAS A AWFUL LIE. THEY ARE VERY RUDE. THE ENTIRE TIME THEY SPEAKING CHI AND THE GIRL THAT WAS BRAIDING MY HAIR WAS ARGUING WITH THE OWNER WHILE SHE WAS DOING MY HAIR. THE GIRL GOT UPSET AND THAN SHE BURNED MY BACK WITH THE BOILING HOT WATER WHILE DIPPING MY BRAIDS. (Leaving a blister and burn on my back). THE GIRL ALSO ASKED ME HOW MANY BRAIDS I WANTED, I TOLD HER 6. SHE END UP GIVING ME 7 AND I HAD TO PAY FOR THE EXTRA ONE THAT SHE PUT IN MY HEAD THAT I DIDNT ASK FOR. MY BRAIDS WHERE VERY MESSY AND BIG AND NOT NEAT AT ALL. THEY PUT A WHOLE JAR OF GEL IN MY HAIR THE BLACK KIND. WHEN IT DRIED IT WAS FLACKING AND NASTY LOOKING. ALL TOGETHER I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS SHOP OR REFER ANYONE THAT I KNOW TO GET THERE HAIR DONE THERE. BEWARE OF THIS SHOP, THEY WILL DO A TERRIBLE JOB AND TAKE YOUR MONEY....

This place is hands down the best braiding shop in the area. Ive been to both locations and have received amazing service and left looking gorgeous every single time. The ladies are extremely polite, patient and they genuinely care about your comfort and if you are happy with your hairstyle. Im prone to migraines so I cant have a hairstyle that is too heavy or too tight or the braids will have to be taken out the same day. The ladies dont know this, but they always take care to make sure Im comfortable, that they arent braiding too tight and that the twists are to my specifications. Ive had my hair done at Bridgettes shops at least 6 times and I have never been unhappy with my hairstyle. Bridgette, Cathy and the other stylists are absolutely amazing. They will listen to you and give you exactly what you ask for. This place is a gem and as long as they are open, I wont go anywhere else.

I love, love, love our hair!!! I needed to get braids for myself and my 9 yr old. Its been years since I had braids done so I had no clue where to go. I found this shop online and it had pretty good reviews. I called to confirm pricing and verify they could accommodate both of us at the same time. Price was very reasonable. (This was not the only place Id called.) They were able to do us right away as it was Monday morning. We were in by 10:40 and out by 4:00. We both got Senegalese braids. Michelle did a great job on my hair and worked very fast. My daughters primary stylist was, I think, Laura. She and the other two ladies did great. My daughter was finished first and she said her stylist (Laura) was very gentle. Michelle was the only one who worked on my head but she finished soon after. Thank you all, ladies. We will be back.

Its Me

I went to this shop very recently for Marley twists. The young girls who were supposed to braid my hair didnt have a clue as to what Marley twists are. They kept asking me to see a picture of Marley twists. I was told by one of the girls that the hair was an additional charge. I explained that I refused to pay for a style, length and the hair. I have never had to pay an additional price for hair. When they felt they couldnt accommodate me with the Marley twists (they had no idea what they were), the owner suggested that I get a different style. I kindly got up and left. I ended up in another shop who had much more experience.

I arrived at 7:45 to be on time for my 8:00 appointment. All the chairs were filled. My braider did not get there to start my hair until 9:41. The ladies in the shop were very nice and kept reassuring me that she was on her way but that is just way too long to have to wait for service to start. Especially after making an appointment. The braider was fast and not at all heavy handed, though she was a bit rough with the parting of my natural hair. In the end my braids looked great so I am tempted to come back for service again but I am not sure.

Wow...I have been coming to the Hometown Hair Braiding for maybe 10 years, it seems like. I have always had excellent service and they work with you on the price. Bridget and here staff always aim to please and give u the style you ask for. I cut my hair and after two years of not coming Briget recognized me and asked about my daughter which was special to me. This is a nice place and I would recommend anyone to go. Thanks Ladies I love my kinky twist as always! Dont know about the other post but Ive always been happy with the service.
