I am going to have to give Ryan the mechanic and Padonia Auto Service a bad review. Its the 2nd time Ive used him and I was a very disappointed in their work and charges. I took my 2004 Isuzu Rodeo in for a Maryland Safety Inspection, they informed me the front and rear stabilizer bushings were bad and I needed to replace them. I think they wanted to charge me for it but they couldnt find the parts locally, so they just left me hanging. I ordered the parts online and had them overnight-ed to me. I am a mechanical engineer and work on machinery all the time and know about worn parts. My father was a mechanic. Once the bushings arrived I replaced them with the new bushings. My father and I both looked at the old bushings and they looked fine. We both felt it was a bit dishonest. Padonia Auto Service originally informed me a re-inspect is free. I took the car back to re-inspect it but they charged me another $27.60 for the re-inspect. I said, "you said the re-inspect is free". They responded, "its only free if it does not have to go up on the lift" which is a little misleading as they never mentioned this. I thought this was a double slap in the face, since I already took time and money to replace something that wasnt broken to begin with, so it could pass inspection. I also informed the office clerk, the used bushings looked fine. The person then responded, "there was movement in the sway bars", with a look of arrogance and irritation. I realized arguing or debating with this guy wasnt going to get anywhere as that is all he kept saying. Even new bushings will show movement as they are made of rubber and are meant to allow for movement and give. The bushings are made of rubber for a purpose and that is to allow for movement, otherwise they would be made of metal. So here is the summary. They failed my car for bushings that were good. They couldnt find replacement bushings locally to fix it and left me high and dry ( I feel they did this to get additional work, which they couldnt get since they couldnt get the part). I had to order the parts and have it overnight-ed and replaced it myself. I took it back for re-inspection and they charged me again for a re-inspect fee which they originally told me there was none. The reason I got the inspection is because I was selling the car. The guy who purchased the Rodeo also is a mechanic, and I kept the bushing for him to look at. He just nodded his head, and he too felt these bushings are fine. 2 experienced mechanics and 1 mechanical engineer, who designs mechanic parts all agree, the bushings were obviously fine. I recommend taking your car to a dedicated inspection station. I think there is way too much self-interest and temptation for shops, that do inspections and auto repair together, to ding you for borderline items or outright lie to get you to have more work done. If the inspection fee is cheap, they charged only $59.95, it is to get you in the door and charge you for other things they find wrong with the vehicle. Lesson learned. My total cost for my Maryland inspection was :$59.95+$73.46(parts and shipping)+$27.60 (Re-inspection)=$161.01. Plus time and gas to order and install parts and take it back for re-inspection, Pay a little more to someone who does only inspections and chances are much better you will pass without any issues as they have no other self-interests to find something wrong.

I’ve been on the hunt for a good local auto mechanic for a long time. In the past, I’ve had almost nothing but bad experiences with dealership service departments and local auto mechanics. Because I’m an online review junkie, I did a local search on Yelp for shops in the area. Not surprisingly, almost all of them were 3 out of 5 stars or less, and most had negative reviews. Padonia Auto, on the other hand, had an average of 4 and a half stars, all with positive reviews. I needed a simple oil change, so I decided to check them out. I couldn’t have been more pleased with the results. The front desk staff was very knowledgeable and competent. I basically asked the mechanics to find something wrong with my truck or to recommend necessary services. Upon inspection, the honest mechanics informed me that no service was needed other than the oil change. My search is finally over. Padonia Auto is a very professional shop; I highly recommend them to all my friends and family.

My experiences here have been entirely positive. I live a good 30 minutes south of their shop, but since they came as a recommended service facility for Volkswagen cars, we took our newly acquired beetle to get it inspected and checked out. After quick, down to earth customer service and a reasonable price, I decided to bring my Chevy back, later on, when it was leaking gas. They diagnosed the problem and replaced the fuel pump same day while I waited, gave me a comparable price (with the same great customer service). I told them that I found out the fuel pump for my car was recalled, they pointed me in the right direction to get a reimbursement from Chevy, which came through! Parts and labor costs seem to me on par with some other garages in the area (if not a little bit cheaper). Nothing is as cheap as doing it yourself, but they have earned my trust, and I will certainly consider their consistent service worthy of the drive.

They made a mistake on my paperwork that cost me time and money. I waited 2 hours at the MVA only to find out they couldnt accept my inspection because of the mechanics carelessness. I had to return all the way back to Padonia Auto where all mechanics I interacted with were unapologetic. In my time at the shop I noticed they were the same way with another customer after they had lost his key. Im sure the actual mechanic work they do is okay but theyre lack of customer service will make this my last trip to this shop.

Weve brought two vehicles here several times for repairs and maintenance; we have been very pleased with the workmanship and fair prices. As others have said, we asked for them to find stuff that was wrong and they told us the cars are fine. They actually called me back when they said they would: amazing! The waiting area is pretty paultry but I just plan to drop the car off and leave. I dont mind the lackluster amenities when the work and prices are so great!

I have been taking my Jeep here for a couple years now. Over time they have done oil changes, fuel pump, shocks, starter, and evaporator. Kevin, the owner, has always been fair and honest, which is almost impossible to come by these days in a mechanic. I drive all the way from Northeast Baltimore City to come and get my car problems taken care of there and will go no other place. If you want an expert of his trade and an honest business man, go here.

This was my first time taking my car to the Padonia Auto Service, after having sworn by taking it to the dealer for any repairs. I was beside myself when my car was completing finished service in 45 minutes! Im used to waiting 3-4 hours at the dealer. And the best is they dont charge an arm and a leg for labor. They really care about making your car right and being reasonable about the cost of maintenance. I think Ive found my new mechanic!
