I took my car to AutoStream on Saturday, 4/2/16 at the Smith Ave location. I wasn’t informed over the phone when making the reservation that there was no waiting room but no biggie. They stated that I would receive a call before they closed at 2pm to advise me on the status of my truck. I called them at 1:40pm and asked about the status and was informed that they would like to keep my truck until Monday to have their Chevy Certified technician look over my vehicle. They offered me a free rental for the weekend. Monday when AutoStream called, they informed me that the code for timing chain was coming up and that Chevy has offered an extended service bulletin to cover the repair. I called Chevy myself and was informed that the service bulletin does exist but my make and model were not included so I would have to pay for repairs on my own. I called AutoStream back to informed them of information and to request an estimate. They stated that since they thought Chevy would cover the repairs they have not got together a price quote. The service manager Terry told me that she would get a quote together and call me back. Long story short, I have called Terry and Doug 4 times since informing them that I would like a price quote and as of 4/19/16 they have never contacted me back. I do not think it should take over 2 weeks to get back to a customer about a service repair. I am unsure as to exactly why they haven’t called me back but I won’t beg someone to allow me to pay them for servicing my truck. So I would recommend them because they were professional and the diagnostic was reasonably priced but their communication could use tremendous improvement. Update- Thank you to Brandon and David of AutoStream for reaching out to me to rectify the situation. I truly appreciate it. If I do decide to get the issue repaired, I would bring it back to Autostream.

A lot of the reviews discuss customer service, customer service does not mean the shop is honest or reasonable in pricing. This shop quoted $900 for rotors and pads all the way around for my 2004 vehicle. I asked the mechanic to show me the rotors but he declined. I asked him why the price was so high. He told me it was the average price of repairs for my car. I knew it was not. I called three shops and all three quoted between $400-$500 for the repairs. Im not sure if this shop quoted me the high price because I am a female or because they simply are ridiculously expensive. Either way the price was insulting. In addition, the shop rep offered to give me free brake pads if I paid for the service today. The deal did not apply tomorrow or later in the week. I felt like I was being scammed. And even with free pads, the cost was $900. A manager reached out to me and asked me to remove the review and he would do the brake work for free. I declined because it is possible that a "new mechanic" will do the brake work and touch another part of the car causing additional repairs. I worked in a family owned shop for many years so I am aware of the horror stories people have about mechanics. This shop is a horror story masked with a friendly smile. Be mindful and pay attention to what is said and explained to you. Also please note, when I went back to see if my review was still posted I noticed that a positive statement was referring to my first experience with the shop was didacted from my review. Im not sure how that happens but please note my second experience with this shop led me not to return out of fear of continued dishonesty.

Car issues are never fun (even the standard oil change which forces you to alter your schedule, get rides, etc.) they’re even worse when you wake up Monday morning and find that your car’s battery is dead. Que AutoStream! On two separate occasions (two different cars) they bailed me out by replacing the dead batteries and doing electrical systems checks to make sure that the barriers were the only issues. Once it was the alternator and they managed to fix everything that SAME DAY. A couple of times I came in for a tire patch and a weird growling noise that the exhaust system was putting out. Both issues were resolved in a snap (the second one was literally one of the attachments was broken and the exhaust pipe was misbehaving so they just put a new one on.) They are always friendly and they understand that car issues can be stressful so they try to make everything as clear as possible before you make a decision about your car. Some people have mentioned high cost and I have to disagree. I used to take my car to the dealership for service and AutoStream’s prices are VERY reasonable. Plus the quality of the service and the consideration of your time are worth every penny.

Five full stars for repair skill and customer attention and service. This place (Auto Stream Car Care Center, Smith Avenue) is the best. I have a stick shift 2005 Mazda 6 that I love (bought used about five years ago) and that has been having old age repair needs since October including deteriorated water pump tensioner, brakes, catalytic converters, among others. Auto Stream has worked with me on prioritizing repairs within my financial abilities -- explaining in clear detail the repairs needed, the whys for how the damage occurred, the ramifications (or not) for delayed repair or when delayed repair was possible given the lack of a safety issue relative to the problem. They know that I need my car and cannot afford, right now, a new car (though they have gently suggested that its time for a new car). The Automotive Service Manager Robert Yospa is so detailed and so caring and great on follow-up and explanation. The mechanic skill and devotion of mechanic Steve Brown is simply wonderful. On many levels, these guys restore a faith in competence and human decency. I tell everybody about them.

On a recent visit I discovered something. It looks like your standard gas and service station. It does look like that from the outside, but its much more. The first thing I noticed, was how I was greeted. It was not hey what do you want, Robert was not only polite, professional and courteous, he actually listened to me. After going over all I was in need of, he was so clear that he was going to make sure all I asked for was really in need of work, before just doing something. As I had a large list of needs, he contacted me several times to update me and ask for approval on work he deemed needed. I have over many years been to many shops, but this shop was just so different in how professional they were in every aspect. When I picked up the car, again all was done the same way, and he made sure I understood all they did, and took time for my questions. When I left I also could not notice how the car was clean, and ran perfect. I highly recommend this shop, due to the excellent high quality of work, by everyone there.

I took my car to the AutoStream Smith Avenue location yesterday to have my engine light accessed, my battery checked and one of my front lights replaced. I arrived at 8am when the shop opened and received a full update from the Assistant Service Manager by 10:30am. I was advised very specifically about what needed to be repaired, as well as which parts of the car were still operating effectively. Both of the major repairs were completed before the 2pm close of business. Additionally, not only did Autostream replace my requested light bulb that was out, but they also took the initiative to replace one of the blinkers that wasnt operating properly. I wasnt even charged for the additional repair. The Assistant Manager charged me extremely fairly and also advised me of what process to take care of next in order to keep my car in great running condition. I will definitely be returning as opposed to taking my car to the dealer the way I have been over the past 9 years.
