This review is from 2 months ago but have come across the reviews here for the salon and thought I would share my 2 cents. I found this place because I had been using Kevin Murphy Products and saw on the website that Tamiko is able to handle ethnic hair. When I arrived at the salon for a consultation (paid $10 for) the receptionists told me they stoped selling his line. I had a consultation by Tamiko who recommended that I use the Deva Curl Product line to keep my curls healthy. I have 4a type hair that is thick and very fine and fragile at the same time. I and have taken her advice to use a no poo and sulfate free products and requested to see her for a wash, deep condition, cut, and style. When I saw her for an appointment the wash and deep condition was fine. When I sat in Tamikos chair, she gave me a nice cut but her styling was awful. I spent all that time telling her that I was looking for a new set of products to use and a new styling techniques and all she could tell me was to use the deva curl product line and just finger twist my hair. UGGGG!! That advice was horrible. She used the deva curl diffuser on my hair which was a horrible hand looking thing that left my hair looking lifeless. The products she used left my hair looking dull and dry and my scalp was not properly moisturized. Ive done a better job using this product line at home with Morrocan Oil for better styling. Her styling technique on my hair was absolutely horrible especially since she was highly recommending that I do natural styles with it. Also she hasnt shown me any natural styles to work with. What made things worse was that I paid $85 for the appointment. I could of done a better job styling my hair at home....FOR FREE !!!!. I decided to try this salon because of the products that they used because the products are the basis for great hair care. Though she recommended products to use her styling techniques for ethnic hair were bad. Do not understand what kind of "ethnic" hair she specilized in. Will never be going there again especially if Im going to be overcharged for something I could of done in less time at home!!!

Ive been a patron here for years and while Ive made appointments with only one person the entire time, the staff never fails to greet me personally and make me feel more than welcomed. Everyone Ive met here over the years has been personable and while I think its a great choice to become a customer here, these past few years have shown me its even more rewarding to stay a customer. The quality, efficiency, friendliness, and price all cannot be beat.

Love my stylist--so warm and friendly. However, the front desk staff leaves a lot to be desired. They never make you feel welcomed, theyre cold, no smile, no greeting, no nothing. Its almost as if theyre too good to talk to you. I guess business isnt hurting so they dont feel the need to be nice to their clients. Thank goodness the stylists are nice and actually care about their clients.

Booked a color and cut a month in advance got called 30 minutes before my appointment time thatthe Stylist will be late. To have owner call to to cancel on me. Was not offered another stylist ,was not offered a discount, was not offer anything wasted my time for nothing thoroughly disappointed wish I could put negative Stars

I cant imagine going anywhere else to get a haircut! Theyre really nice at this salon and they always have snacks/drinks for customers which is nice. My stylist, Gail, is the best! I actually followed her here from another salon and couldnt be happier. She knows her stuff and shes a great person to get to know too!

I have been going to Shelbi at Dakotas for about 2 years. Every cut has been excellent. She is creative and talented. The staff in general is friendly and professional. Highly recommend.
