This terrible experience started off with the President of the company, Joanne Grigsby, talking a good game but she couldnt follow through. After the contract was signed and 2 of the 3 payments had been made Joanne Grigsby was very unresponsive to emails and changes. The contract stated that the guest count is subject to change and you need to provide a final number within 10 days of the wedding. When I provided the final number which was lower than previously expected but still within the required amount she refused to adjust the final payment amount even though she would now be providing much less food and services. She still wanted to charge per person for 20 people that would not be there therefore also charging for food she would not be providing. After arguing and threatening to find a new caterer she finally agreed to adjust the price to the correct total. This must have led to her holding a grudge that she brought with her on the wedding day. It was made very clear that her contracted start time was at 1pm and she needed to be there at 1pm since she was responsible for bringing the table clothes and setting up the tables and chairs. While the tables and chairs managed to get set up she herself who had the table clothes did not show up until 3pm (2 hours late) with the table clothes therefore preventing any decorating from getting done. This of course had my family and friends scrambling to get all decorating done within a half hour of the ceremony starting. Guests were arriving for the ceremony and seeing the chaos the caterer caused so they pitched in to help get things done. Once the ceremony was over the caterer was responsible for moving the chairs from the ceremony to the reception area. This was part of the contract and the venues requirement. They didnt move a single chair. Instead my friends, family, and out of town guests were doing it. Once it was time for dinner to be served they ran out of green beans before all the guests even had a change to get their first plate-we paid for food for 100 guests but only had about 90 there so running out of food should not have been a concern. One of the servers walking around with hors doeuvres purposely flicked red cocktail sauce all over the grooms beige vest and then laughed about it. I can say it was on purpose because that is the ONLY time the server physically handed the food to any person. All other people were presented the tray and asked to pick up the hors doeuvres them self. While walking around during the reception the President of the company, Joanne Grigsby, came up to me, the bride, and whispered in my ear "Did I mess you up?" snickered, and then walked away. The President/CEO of this company, Joanne Grigsby, is very irresponsible, immature, and unorganized. Save yourself the trouble and hire a caterer who knows what they are doing and will get the job done right.

After plans to use another catering service fell through, we were able to secure Bennett Caterers for my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary. In less than 6 days, Joanne Grisby and her staff deftly stepped in and orchestrated a stellar event. After just a simple conversation, she worked with her chef to create a delectable menu that featured several of my parents’ favorite dishes such as seafood newburg, stuffed chicken breast and roasted brisket. Chef Corey Simpson is -- without question -- a master chef. We received numerous compliments throughout the evening regarding the presentation and taste of the food. The wait staff was prompt, professional, courteous and attentive. They arrived early and on their own initiative assisted with finalizing centerpieces and lighting candles. During the meal they were accommodating, pleasant, and present, and they anticipated our guests’ every need. In addition, they willingly stayed longer than we’d contracted to continue to serve our guests cake and coffee, and when the event concluded, they gathered and stacked the centerpieces and candles. Their service was impeccable and their assistance was invaluable. Bennett Caterers exceeded our every expectation in that they delivered a flawless catered event. I will definitely be calling them for future events and have already recommended their services to family, friends, and colleagues. If you’re fortunate to work with them, you won’t be disappointed. Simply put, they are the best kept catering secret in the Washington Metropolitan area. Their expertise made our event a truly enjoyable experience.

I am so happy we used Bennett Caterers for the Retirement Luncheon, at Sun Trust Bank. The food was spectacular and the service was excellent! Bennett Caterer’s team was very professional, organized, and on time. They also assisted us in identifying the perfect menu, DJ and entertainment for the event. But most of all, Joanne showed us how we could use our office space to host the event. This saved us time and money from having to rent a venue; making our luncheon more intimate for the 200 guests in attendance. We will be sure to use Bennett Caterers, for any future corporate events, and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a full-service professional catering team. Bennett Caterers did an awesome job with catering my fathers surprise 80th Birthday Brunch. Joanne took special care in the planning of the menu and decor for the brunch. She listened to my needs and skillfully brought my vision to reality. On the day of the event, the entire staff worked in unison to create a fabulous atmosphere. The brunch was scrumptious and my guests are still raving. Great experience. Im ready for my next event!
