I love this gym and cannot recommend it highly enough for everyone to join. The gym is ALWAYS clean (including bathrooms and equipment) and the staff is both helpful and supportive. I have learned about the importance of regular exercise and since joining I have lost 54 pounds. I am encouraged by ALL the employees when I arrive for my daily workout, no matter when (day or night) I can always find parking. When someone such as I is on a journey back to good health, it is so important to hear the helpful suggestions from the trainers and staff, providing a "no intimidation" path to success. As I am getting ready to renew my membership, I hope this review will be helpful to anyone considering a gym, and urge them to take a serious look at this Planet Fitness in Germantown, MD. Not only have I lost weight, but I am no longer a candidate for knee surgery. Thank you to everyone associated with this gym, and particularly Ariel who always greets me with a smile and a "keep up the good work" when I arrive each day.

I recently moved to the Germantown area and was in search of a new gym. I had heard of Planet Fitness before, but there was another gym closer to where I lived previously. I was under the impression Planet Fitness was all cardio and did not allow free weights. I decided to take a look for myself. When i arrived the front desk staff were welcoming and eager to show me around. Lo and behold looks like the rumors were wrong, this gym has everything i needed. Tons of cardio, free weights, even cable towers and smith machines. It was spotless, employees were cleaning as we were on my tour. All of this for $10 a month! I was sold. I have been there for 5 months now couldnt be happier. The trainer has helped me get acclimated with the gym, the staff is always so friendly. If you are looking for a great environment to get your workout in, this is the place.

I have been a PF member for several years. PF losses money on me, as I have been to the gym over 1,300 times in the last 950 days, only missing 20 days since June of 2014 and spending at least 2 hours there each visit. Over the last 18 days I have been to 14 different days. Germantown isnt the biggest, newest or flashiest, its just the best. The staff is top notch. If Tabitha or Allison are working you know that the place will be clean, the staff engaged and you will be welcome with open arms. Of course, any gym is only going to be as good as you want it to be. Showing up means nothing if you arent going to do the work. The lack of the 5th star has NOTHING to do with the staff, but rather things about the physical building and PF corporate policy and local ownership. (Same issues every gym I have belonged to have had)

Seems more like a "average" persons gym. Lots of treadmills / ellipticals and many different machines. large quantity of dumbbells also. I just joined, but it seems like it can be crowded at times. Definitely avoid going during the "after-work" time frame of around 5 oclock. Also if you are trying to get really big and are hardcore into lifting this might not be the place for you...the only benches are those assisted ones and there arent as many free-weight machines like a hammer press; instead there are the belt-style variations (not sure what the proper term is). Over a good gym for the average person as long as you miss the rush hour crowd.

Good value, 24hr is great. The lack of free heavy barbells is the one major downside, but I like using the smith machines anyway because I dont have a spotter. Dumbbells go up to 60 pounds, machines of all kinds go much higher, but youll get more mileage out of some and not others. Just dont expect all the weightlifting equipment to be free during "rush hours" e.g. 5pm to 9pm on weeknights. The free tootsie rolls are perfect for a post workout pick-me-up. Never been to free bagel morning or pizza night each month but its a nice gesture.

Dirty, they dont clean much. Broken cardio machines. They started out with six up right cycles two years ago, down to three. Most missing foot straps. Just do not do what should be done for such a heavy use facility. Bathrooms are nasty. Last year I got MRSA, called the gym to tell them. Normal facility would have shut down and done a deep cleaning. The person I called said I should not have gone to gym. Told him I didnt know until the day after. For $10 a month what can you say? Except Muddy branch is the exact opposite.

My wife pursued me to join a few months ago and I extremely happy I did. Used to be a member at the OLD Fitness First Gym in the Fox Chapel Plaza (which has converted into a GOLDS Gyms) and that Gym was a total Pit. They could never keep the same staff for more than a few months and the Mens Locker room was disgusting. Have been very pleased with the staff and the cleanliness of my new club - Planet Fitness Germantown. Keep up the good work.

Good value for what I pay, especially compared to other local gyms. Gym and equipment is always clean, maintenance for downed equipment could be a little faster. Also wish staff would circulate to help newbies and encourage the "campers" (those who monopolize one piece of equipment for more time than it takes me to get thru all the equipment) to allow others to work in their reps. Staff always has a smile on their face.

Good facility for $10 month price. Often TOO crowded, no place to park. BEWARE of locker room and shower facility. Shower floors are not mopped properly, water does not drain properly, builds up. Me and others got athletes foot from reckless, nasty patrons. STRONGLY recommend wear galoshes or high top shower shoes to limit you feet from being discolored by the built up, un-drained water.

Best gym around. Only $10 a month, the staff is friendly, the people are courteous. The machines are always clean and there is always a cleaning station within arms reach. Ive been to other gyms where no one wipes anything down, the staff is rude and the machines are covered in sweat and debris- not at Planet Fitness! They take pride in their gym.

Only been a member for 24 hours and already love this place. Staff is extra nice and the people differently respect others and clean the machines when they are done. The best thing about this is the price. I was going to join HealthTrax but the price was outrageous and not many locations. Cant wait to get there tonight to work out.

I love how they have programs on week days to help people learn how to do certain exercises. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The trainer at my local gym helped motivate me to come to his classes more. I go 5 days a week now and its a good, healthy way to burn time rather then playing video games or watching videos.

Front desk, I believe her name is Delilah, was rude, looks like she was in a rush to do anything but help a client like be on her phone or socialize with her co workers. As I read the other reviews it looks like their staff is pretty great so it seems this should not happen on the type of people Planet Fitness hires.
