Oh, wow, where to begin? First off, this is literally a guy-in-his-basement operation that is not recognized by the Better Business Bureau. Im not sure about the going price for hard drive data recovery, but he charged me what I felt was an OUTRAGEOUS sum of money (more than a months rent in a nice Baltimore city apartment! ) You could probably get it cheaper elsewhere. 1) He admitted to me that he is intentionally misrepresenting his business location on Google to get more business. IT IS NOT LOCATED WITHIN BALTIMORE CITY LIMITS, but is in Gwynn Oak. 2) Before any work started, I verbally asked him if there was any sort of discount he could give me. He said sure. But later, he said the discount was $50 if I could pay the entire fee in one payment. What sort of discount is that on a payment that cost >$1K? I wound up not getting any discount. 3) He was repeatedly a couple days late with giving me the estimate. In December, he told me that it would be ready in a week. A day or so later I decided that it really wasnt worth the high price, so I asked if I could cancel. He wouldnt let me! I had signed a contract at this point so it was legally ok, but it was a lame thing to pull. 4) So, instead, I tell him that Id pay in installments that would end on Feb 4. Well, Feb 4th rolls around AND HE STILL DOES NOT HAVE THE HARD DRIVE READY! What happened to it being ready "in a week" in December ? Unbelievable! He freakin had over an extra month to do it!!! 5) But, this did not stop him from charging my debit card anyway before the work was complete and I had the drive in my hand! This was AFTER I had already emailed him once telling him not to do that. 6) In the first installment, he tried to charge me an extra $20! When I complained, he said that that matched the amount on the contract I had signed. Ummm, no, why would I change the contract I signed so I would pay MORE? 7) He occasionally would not answer phone calls or emails. He did eventually perform the service requested and somewhat made an attempt to explain what was going on, but dealing with him was so shady and unprofessional that I cant recommend this business. I wouldnt be surprised if he wrote the one positive review himself, as it uses language that sounds like him. In fact, I am a bit uncomfortable with him having access to my hard drive data and financial information, and will not hesitate to take legal action if he does something in retaliation.

As I finished writing the 1999th word of my 2000-word essay, my computer died. After some investigation, I thought it must be the charging port. I did a quick "Find laptop repair near me", and Basic Computers was the closest one to my location. When I described the problem, Geoff knew what brand my computer was, and told me exactly how he would fix it. When I brought it over to his shop, he was very pleasant, took my deposit (which happened to be the full amount since it was so reasonable), looked at the laptop for a moment, and confirmed our suspicion. He let me know that if he needed to order a part, it would be three days, if not, it would be 24 hours. The following day he called me to say it was ready to pick up! I was unable to get there until after his business hours. Thankfully he was able to accommodate. I went to pick up my laptop and found it had been cleaned top to bottom! Im sure it was a chore, as I know how dirty it was and Im not proud of it, but there was no extra charge! As long as I live in Baltimore and keep hanging on to my old Toshiba, Geoff has my business. Im glad I found him!

After contacting several repair services, I finally connected with Basic computers. I spoke with someone directly who was genuinely concerned about my computer issues and took the time to listen. He assured me that same day service would be provided at a reasonable price. Everything he promised was delivered. He also provided valueable tips and documents on how to keep my computer running at optimal level. I am really satisfied with the service and I am recommending Basic computers to my friends.

I brought my laptop to this store to receive a screen installation. The job was finished a mere 2 hours later. This was on a Saturday when I saw multiple customers come to the store to place other orders. In addition, the store owner provided insight to my various other computer issues free of charge. The owner is highly professional and generous with his time and knowledge. Highest recommendation.

I took my computer to Mr. Jeff and in a matter of days, he had a more in-depth diagnosis for my laptop (outside of the non-working Cooling Fan). Mr. Jeff was very professional and friendly and I am happy with the service that he provided. I know in the future if I ever have any other computer needs, I will bring my computer to him at Basic Computers, LLC.
