The staff is poorly trained and incredibly rude. They will always choose to help/talk to gym rats that are there religiously while ignoring everyone else. One of the owners is very unfriendly too, and does not hesitate to be rude to customers who arent his friends. The child-care they offer is a joke. Most of the kids in there belong to staff and will be the ones receiving attention while your kids are ignored. A number of times while working out I would peek in the window to the kids room and see the staff sitting at a table with their backs to the kids, gossiping and not even caring what the kids were doing. If you have a small infant, they have a special section just for them that has to have one staff in it at all times. Yep, thats not happening. Theyll put your child in there, still strapped into the car seat and leave them there with no one in the section with them. Be careful when you go into the room, because if you open the door too fast, youll probably hit a child, as there is always one trying to escape. They advertise a "women only" wing. Useless. It doesnt have anywhere near the equipment that the co-ed side does. And most of the machines work the same muscle groups, so theres no diversity. Plus, there are always men cutting through it (which doesnt make sense b/c the only thing on the other side is the womens locker room). If you have a year long membership, make sure if you dont want to renew, that you make sure you tell them MONTHS in advance and put it in writing, then have a manager/owner sign it. Cause if you dont they will sue you for a supposed "breach of contract" by not automatically renewing for another year. I know of multiple former-employees who have quit from there because even they were treated like crap from management and owners. And as revenge for quitting, the owners refuse to give them their final paychecks and after months of being asked for them, they claim they were "lost:" and pretty much tell the ex-employees, too bad so sad. Youre better off finding another gym to use, like La Plata Fitness or CSMs gym.Dont bother giving these crooks your money. I wish I could give this place negative stars.

I love World Gym. The location is perfect for me, I stop by, for now, 4 days a week, on my way home. Eventually, I will bump it up to 5 or more days a week. I like the small "Womens Only" side of the gym, for those of us who arent perfect and cant stand the ones who think they are perfect gawking. I take 2 Zumba classes a week (Robbie is hands down, the best zumba instructor Ive ever worked with). Robbie gets the class going, Ive noticed more and more people participating in his class. He also helps with the Body Combat class, Lizzy is awesome (trust me, this girl will kick your butt in that class). I take the 2 classes simultaneously on Thursdays, when I get home, Im exhausted but feel great at the same time. Every night when I walk into the gym, the staff at the front desk always greet me with a smile, and the ones who clearly recognize me acknowledge me when I walk in. Robbie always takes time to say hello and ask if you will be in his class "this week". So, all in all, yes, a few years ago, I had a membership there and cancelled, but not because of the staff or the gym itself. I cancelled because I wasnt motivated enough. Ive been going to the gym this time around since August of 2014 and couldnt be happier. Each week, I notice the results of my hard work and dedication. I sprained my ankle during a zumba class, missed the week after it happened, then came back the following week to "modify" my zumba moves. I still participated, thats all that matters. So, those of you that cancelled a few years ago, give it another shot, you may find that you will like the upgrades, more classes, fantastic instructors and just all around good time you will have. Thanks again, Robbie and Lizzie, for accepting me in your classes (this is your favorite "I Love Lucy Episode Problem Child". You two are the best!! Oh, and I cant forget Susan, the Stability Ball instructor, she is really great too. Every week in her class, you can BYOB (bring your own ball!!!) and have a blast!! Thanks again all!

This gym is turning into the womens gym down the street but with less decor. The classes are dull. The boxing room has never been finished and there is not enough boxing classes or athletic type classes for men offered (or for women who actually want a good solid workout) unless you want to take a dance style class. . One or two instructors monopolize the schedule. They seem to be house wives just looking for a place to gossip and not too worried about what type of workout their members are getting. Someone needs to review the schedule as it is getting worse each month. The Run class was great but that and the instructor who was very good have vanished from the schedule too. If you want to be different (better) from the other gym give us back the run class and the boxing class. You can take BOSU at Jazzersize! The gym and childcare are both very big but do not offer much although at least the childcare employees are usually friendly. This gym is not what i expected when i heard the owner of the Fort Washington Gym is opening one here in Laplata. If you want a good hard workout this gym is not the place. Too bad too i had high expectations and high hopes. I will definately join a different gym once my membership expires.

I recently cancelled my membership. The classes got worse and worse and fewer and fewer. I joined at first because they had Body Pump and Body Combat. They dont have them anymore although some intructors illegally use the Body Pump format. Who trains the cycle instructors? According to practically all indoor cycle certs a "sprint" over 111 to 120 rpm is dangerous and participants should be instructed to add more resistance instead of leg turnover. Also "isolations" where you stand and go very slowly moving only the legs is a containdicated exercise. The instructors do not train safe classes. They do not look at form either. On the plus side the Personal Trainers who are contracted from Longevity Studios are extremely proficient. I did email the manager and group ex director several times to enquire about the lack of classes but I never received a reply. I just gave up.

This World Gym is now under NEW ownership and NEW management (as of June 2014)! The classes have been revamped entirely and are excellent - Les Mills Body Pump and Body Combat, excellent Yoga and excellent Zumba instructors! An awesome SPIN program. The gym is absolutely clean and fresh! Friendly front desk staff guide you through and welcome you. The Personal Training companies offer excellent training options for those that have special fitness needs or fitness goals! The Alloy training program is a favorite! This place has done a 360-degree turnaround and is the best gym IN TOWN!

The gym is the best in Charels County. I live 5 mins from World Gym Waldorf and I still drove to la plata world gym. The layout out open and well organized. The staff has to be my favorite part though friendly and professional. This gym is the best hands down and puts the others to shame.
