tldr; Do it. Ive lived in the area for 15 years and never visited Eastover because I deemed the area "dangerous." Never took a step in PF or walked around the neighborhood - nothing. I did the "virtual tour," looked up many videos on how to use gym equipment and signed up online. For my healths sake, it was the best decision I ever made - and the gym is nice (WHEW!). I was kind of in for a culture shock because when I got off the bus (mind you, I had to figure out which bus even went there), I wanted to run in another direction because the area looks worse than what I imagined. Nonetheless I was there for the gym and aside from being asked if I want cigarettes, its fairly uneventful. I hope it stays that way. There were no surprises (billing, etc.) and after being there for several months, the gym appears to be well-maintained. The only mistake I made was buying a lock because the gym doesnt use any - the lockers use resettable combinations. Ive had an issue with one not opening and it was promptly taken care of. Other than that locker incident and turning in something another member lost, Ive not interacted with the staff much (other than saying "hi" and "bye.") There have probably been 500 different employees since I started and 2,000 new members (alright, maybe not literally) and on any given day, I see no more than a handful of regulars. 99% of the people you see on any given day youll probably never see again, as with any other gym. Ive been through so many emotions since starting and was just completely off about myself and my perception of others. Dont look at the skinny, fit person and think theyre strong or the really fat guy and assume theyre weak. No matter what I researched and how conservative I thought my workout was, nothing prepared me until I got my hands on equipment and found out how physically and psychologically weak I truly was. Proteinuria, almost fainting for the first time in my life - going partially deaf and blind, crying while sweating, its been torturous at times. However, Id rather die being in that gym than live the sedentary lifestyle I enjoyed for years. The next (or first) time you go in there and see a fat guy with a cloth tucked in his shirt, know hes, just like you, will do whatever it takes to have a healthy life and change for YOURSELF to do the things you truly want to do in life. You werent mean to live a substandard life so if youre serious, IDGAF if its lifting a 1 pound weight, start now. Other members, including myself, WILL help you.

Im a late night gym user (11pm-4am) and I happen to come here when there was stand still traffic on the Woodrow Wilson bridge and had to make a quick exit at the MGM. My navigation said this was the closest location from where I was. So I get there, and the staff was nice but all the signs were telling me to leave. First, I walk into the locker room and theres a female having a loud and rude convo on the phone. Second, the music was extremely loud. I could barely hear what I was listening too on my headphones (I had to turn the volume all the way up) Third, as I was 25 mins into my cardio workout, a guy approached me asking what kind of car I have in the parking lot, I told him, and he walked off. I had to catch him to ask him what the issue was and he said he was the tow truck driver and just wanted to make sure I was in the gym. Now, what if I was using the rest room, or in the black card Spa, or not anywhere in sight where he had access to??? My car would have been towed? Wow. I recommend that Planet Fitness gives out parking passes for the tow truck company to recognize because I do spend a good deal of time in the locker room (shower, getting dressed, etc) so when Im not in sight, my car wont be towed. All I could think about was my car or if I was suppose to get a parking pass because it seems like he only approached me and left. I was so uncomfortable from the time I walked into the locker room to when I left. That was the last straw and I had to leave and end my workout abruptly. The extra star was for the staff because they were friendly and helpful as soon as I walked in.

Ive been coming here since they opened totally loved this place the first year. I switched my workout hours to the overnight shift where I feel welcomed & the staff is more professional than the manger who actually runs the place now. I hate the fact that when I come during the morning shift the attitudes, hate, judging & tension is so thick I can cut it with a knife..smh I can officially say that I hate this place & will be looking for another gym as soon as my membership expires. Im pissed that $20 of my hard earned cash is being used to pay some of these disrespectful employees here. Id rather take my money & go somewhere Im appreciated. The owner of this place need to introduce customer service training classes for his head manger Shantel, Assistant manager & other employees who are unprofessional & disrespectful towards customers. Somewhere down the line some staff members here have lost their ability to respect paying customers who are contributing to their paychecks. The whole vibe here is disgusting bring back the old managers who actually had customer service skills & utilized them when dealing with the public. I thought this was a judgment free zone the staff are doing the most judging. Grown women acting like teenagers it feels like Im in high school when I come during the 9-4 shift. If your a business owner be carful who you hire to represent your company. One negative person with a bad attitude can cause you everything.

I am a member of the Oxon Hill Planet Fitness, Eastover. It is a great place to work out. My trainer, Russel is excellent. He is motivated in helping me to get to my fitness goal. He is fun and very committed to my success. Russel knows his stuff...the exercises are hard, but very challenging. Russel always tells me I can do it, no matter how many times, I tell him I cant. Russels clients ... our group encourages each other and we are all committed to our success. Planet Fitness is a very clean and neat gym. The staff are amazing. They are very friendly, kind, and helpful. There has never been a time I went to the desk to ask for assistance that I wasnt greeted with a smile, kind, and friendly response. I am a member who goes out of my way to get to Planet Fitness Oxon Hill, although I have one close to my home on Silver Hill Road. That says a lot about this Planet Fitness Oxon Hill. I love that place! Shirley

This place is the best!! Clean! Great staff! Good location for me! And the fact thats its 24 hours means everything to me because I get off work at 11 and need to be back to work at 6. I heard they were changing hours and I will devastated and disappointed big they dont continue to be 24 hours as thats the biggest reason I joined this particular gym. They are normally stocked on drinks, though one time they only had water and no power drinks. Its nice and quiet and affordable!! Love the massage beds, chairs and the total body enhancement machine ( the red light room and the machine that shakes off your cellulite) I plan to sign up for some personal trainer sessions m. I love that they are free and the trainer there look great like they are well informed!! Overall amazing place and I dont think its unsafe at all for them to be considering changing the hours. I LOVE that my gym is 24 hours.
