The NTB Alignment Debacle 1. I drive a 2009 subaru impreza with 28,900 miles on the vehicle 2. Purchased 4 band new tires from NTB and noticed that the alignment was good enough 3. 2 month later, car is slightly pulling to the left 4. Take car into NTB Saturday, 9/10/2011, to get alignment 5. NTB took 3 hours to do the alignment, I received my car and it now swerves to the right 6. On top of that, NTB estimated my car needs over $600 worth of work on my rear brakes. 7. The Mechanic pulled me out to the front parking lot to talk to me about the work that needed to be done to my car. The Mechanic didn’t take me into the work bay and show me the issues with my car that needed to be fixed. 8. After reviewing the estimate, the mechanic lowered the estimate to $485. Rotors are good for at least 60,000 miles!! I said I didn’t want the work done 9. While my car was on the lift, I noticed that my left rear brake light was out 10. Asked Mechanic if the brake light was out, and he said yes and that he could fix it for me, additional $25. Brake light is not on the estimate?? I said no 11. Upon further review of estimate, I noticed some discrepancies. Major issue I noticed was, new brake rotors and resurfacing brake rotors … why do I need to resurface new brake rotors? 12. Set up an appointment for the next day Sunday, 9/11/2011 to get the alignment fixed 13. Go in on Sunday, took them an hour and half to do the 2nd alignment 14. Receive car and there has been absolutely no improvement, car still swerves to the right 15. I came back to NTB, and took the service manager for a little drive. He agreed … the cars alignment was off. 16. He said he would do the alignment himself. So I figure 3 strikes and you’re out. 17. Service manager works on the car for about another hour or so. Manager pulls me into the service bay and shows me the alignment machine. He tells me “everything is green on the alignment machine”. I state “So you’re telling me you can’t align my car” manager say “you have an un-alignable car, the reasons could be that you have a radial pull in the tire and that Reisterstown road isn’t a flat road” … I think thats a sorry excuse to say you dont know how to do your job. You were able to balance the car so therefore it isnt a radial pull and the fact that I could literally take an exit ramp without my hands off the steering wheel should never happen. 18. I tell the service manager that I believe his alignment machine needs to be re calibrated. He stated that the machines are serviced every week … bs! 19. Take car to Merchants in Towson on Wednesday 9/14/11 after work. 20. Merchant’s does an alignment on my car and gets it back to me in about 35 minutes and has the car aligned almost perfectly. 21. Pick up car and they stated that my front right wheel was off by a little over 30 degrees … WTF!!! I have a close friend who used to be an mechanic for sears and the worst alignment he has ever scene during his 2+ years with them was off by 15 degrees. Normal alignments are in the range of 5-8% off 22. Moral of the story … I’m glad NTB didn’t do my brakes and always get a warranty!!!! Seems National Tire and Battery ... cant do tires and wasted 2 days of my weekend 6 hours of my life and did more harm then good. NEVER GO THERE ... PERIOD!

Yesterday I want to this place looking for new tires, I told the guy I want the same tires 4 of them which costed me 662.80$ they told me its gonna be done in one hour , took them 2 hours. So when they finished payment prices gave me keys, I went to see my car I found out that they hv haven a different size of the tires . I called them and ask them why us that u have me p215 / 60 R r 94t instead of p215/60 R 16 95T , the explanation was its close to yours and works good, I went to work in evening I called them and told them I want the tires I asked u! They said we dont hv it come tomorrow we refund your $$$... at 930am was there to day they refused, so i asked the manager contacts what I heard from horrible people. Never never again , so unprofessional. He said u signed for it its done. Recall they make u sign before they show u the work hv done. Makes 0 sense. After contact the own and I explained what happened i got my exact tires I paid for , thanks a lot and am happy for your help, I spoke the thanks branch manager and I found out that the same employee that gave me hard time and stupid explanations he fooled me a day before that am talking to the manager of this store yet that was not the manager. He used the managers name which is not professional. I can still go back to the store ,because all what I wanted is my tires and got them.

Appointment took 3.5 hours to install 4 normal sedan tires. TPMS light came on next day. Had inspected by dealer and they advised NTB broke a sensor. Returning for warranty. Update: Replaced bad sensor. TPMS warning indicator still on. Will have to take back to dealer, as they have no idea how to fix and do not have the diagnostic tools (so sad) : READ THIS NTB "TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), also known as TPWS (Tire Pressure Warning System), has been around for a few years now, but starting next year (2008) *ALL* new cars are required to have a "direct" type TPMS system, with pressure transducer mounted inside the wheel wirelessly transmitting tire pressure data to a control unit as the car is driving down the road, in order to alert the driver if any tire loses pressure while driving." Any shop doing tire work, even if its just tire rotation, will need to be familiar with these systems before they start rolling in the door. Learning about TPMS on the job will likely lead to dissatisfied customers and potentially costly damage to your customers car.

So I have been taking both of my vehicles to this location for a while. The fourth of July they where running a special and over booked. I was there the first schedule day and waited over 2 hours to be told the mechanic who works on my type of vehicle was gone for the day. The next day I had a appointment and waited over 4 hours for a oil change. Because of the mess up the day before I received a free full synthetic oil change. I was upset about having an appointment and still waiting over 4 hours, the manager felt like he was doing me a favor because of the free oil change. I previously purchased 4 tires and have a warranty on them, thats the only thing I will go back there for. Customer service is bad, there was no favor in giving me a free oil change and still waiting over 4 hours. I wouldnt recommend this location anymore, where at one point this was my favorite place. Never leave your loyal customers hanging for a one time special.

I asked for a full synthetic oil change and was billed for that but when I saw, they did a Durablend oil change and on top of that, the girl, sales associate, lied to my face that the company keeps on changing their can colors and insisted that they had done the correct oil change. But when I went back into their work area, and saw the can up close, i saw that it was the Durablend oil change only. Didnt expect this kind of cheating and lying from such a good company. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone now. I saw thats why i caught them, otherwise who knows what you pay for and what you get. At least she could have admitted her mistake instead of outright lying. At least give us the service for what we pay and not doing what you want as soon as we turn our back. And keep honest sales people at your stores. And it took 2.5 hrs when they said that it would take only 1.5 to do an oil change.
