I scheduled an appointment to get my hair dyed a light violet/red color by Jenny B at Kindle & Boom on August 11th. I was very excited to get my hair done since that week I was preparing for my first bikini bodybuilding competition on August 22nd. In the consultation she explained to me that since my hair had been highlighted previously, the color would be a bit different, but she would get as close to the photo I had shown her as possible. She dyed my hair, washed it out and I freaked out. I looked like Ronald McDonald. She then proceeded to glaze my hair to “fix it”. She did this and once she was done my ends started breaking off. I wasn’t told I was going to have to pay for a glaze. In the consultation I was told a full head of highlights and a coloring is what I would be paying for. I was there for 3.5 hours which caused me to be late for work. She then told me that in order to get the red I desired it would take several stages. If she would have told me that in the first place, I wouldn’t have dyed my hair in the first place since I only have a week until my competition. I left the salon too scared to say anything, wanting to give my hair a chance yet having to pay $200+ for the fried ends and completely different hair color than what I had asked for. I called back later that day to see if they could fix it and I asked to speak with a manager. Apparently they have 5 people running the place so I was told “Stan” would get back to me later that day. He never did. Later that day I wrote a review on Yelp about my experience. I spoke with 4 other people until I got to meet face to face with Stan almost 5 days later. I spoke with Annie, and then Ashley (the only decent person there who tried to somewhat help me), and some other desk attendant. I was tossed around and completely neglected by their staff. I received a phone call later that week saying that they would set me up with Jenny B. to give my hair a gloss and a keratin treatment for the damage. I agreed but about an hour later I called and cancelled since I took the time to think it over and decide that I just wanted a refund on my hair since they had already messed it up enough. The next day they called me back and decided not to give me a refund. I was outraged. I went into the salon to meet with Stan on Friday and they told me to come back in an hour. I met with Stan and he told me that after reading my initial Yelp review that he was “done playing these games with me” and was “no longer interested in doing business with me”. He told me that he doesn’t want to “help someone like me” and that he was fine leaving me an unsatisfied client. I was not refunded, I was not compensated for anything they had done to me. After completely wasting $200, I was forced to dye my hair jet black and chop it all off since she had fried my ends. I advise you all to stay clear of this salon, they will butcher your hair.

Professionalism is not the key here to be honest. It is very overpriced but this is the best one Ive been yet, to be honest. If you do go, you should make sure you have the day off because sometimes it may take longer than others. I always go to Sufi, he is great in cutting hair and lightening hair but for highlights no... Horrible. He said the only way I could lighten it was with highlights and I said no at first but then I was like okay he knows more than me, wrong. He did highlights 3 inches down from my roots, so I ended up looking like I got my highlights done months ago. That made me upset but now I know that Ill always ask for a shampoo lightening process instead. Every time I do get a haircut, he does it exactly like the photo I show him no kidding! So yeah.. But other things are off with the place. Some people are nice and others act like you dont exist (specially some receptionists) which is rude. But the ladies that wash my hair are very friendly. So Ive had good and bad moments to be honest, but then again it depends who does your hair too.

My girl Eva started here several months ago and I followed her. Mind you--this is the second place Ive moved with her. That should definitely tell you about her professional skills, work ethic and personality! Eva has grown to be a dear personal friend and I dont know what Ill do if she ever leaves the area! Despite the fact that Evas been here for a while now, Im horrible with getting my hair cut regularly, so I just went in for the first time not long ago. The salon is tucked away in the line of shops adjacent to Congressional Plaza. Getting into the parking lot was a bit confusing my first time, but parking is adequate. They have huge floor-to-ceiling windows along the front and back of the store and the salon is clean, bright, and airy. The place is BUSY and you really need to pre-book your next appointment before you leave, especially if you want to come in on a weekend.

I used to love getting my hair cut when it was still Robert Lewis salon, but ever since they changed owners the cuts have been terrible. After two bad haircuts and a hair dye that ruined my gorgeous hair, I asked them to fix it for me but they were so rude. Jenny and Kurt were the ones who gave me the two worst hairjobs of my life but they seem to think it turned out okay. I dont think frying someones hair and causing split ends is OKAY. Neither is giving someone an ugly shade of reddish-orange highlights when they asked for blonde. I was upset but polite when asking for them to fix my hair but everyone I talked to those days, from the receptionists to the owners were snooty and rude to me. They told me I can take my business somewhere else and guess what? I did, to a salon nearby, where I met two other women with similar horrid experiences at Kindle & Boom.

You will know why this is the Best of Bethesda Salon! Kim M. is ahhh-mazing. I went from ultra dark hair to caramel/blonde highlights yesterday. She knows her stuff and is fun & super professional. Im in love with my new hair! The salon is so trendy, and the process is well orchestrated from station to station. I was there a few hours and the place did not slow down at all, great vibe from the walk in to the walk out. Definitely 5 *, and ALOT of great stylist there-they do not disappoint.

Kindle & Boom is the best Salon in the Rockville/ Bethesda area by far! The Stylists are so well educated and are always up on the latest style trend. Eddie does my hair, and he is amazing. The front desk staff is very friendly and welcoming and the salon is so beautifully decorated. I have also gotten the best and most relaxing pedicure, so try their nail services too!I I promise you will love Kindle & Boom!
