Awful experience that I hope will not happen to any customer of Pep Boys male or female by sharing my experience. I took my Toyota Corolla in on Mother’s Day explaining to the service clerk that waited on me that I had an issue with my LEFT FRONT WHEEL (smelled an odor as if something was burning like metal on metal which was causing vibration to the steering wheel). I am informed my wheel bearings had gone up (all four wheels bearings replaced three years prior). Then I get another call you need a new axle too (again replaced in 2012 on the right front). Well I get another call they found my axle, but they didn’t have the credit to charge it on the Pep Boys account; could I go and pick up the part (no you have my car –should of said put my car back together for this is a scam). Well I go to pick up my car for they had to keep it over night after work on Monday with a $400.00 bill for work they did on the right and not on the left front side as I an informed them. Yes now my brake caliper was now sticking onto my rotor on the left side or worst then when I brought it to them. I told them give me back my car and I will have someone else to fix it. Well I take it to another mechanic directly across from Pep Boys to fix their mess for it was the caliper assembly that needed replacing all along that was sticking on the left. They damaged my rotor on the right as well and I was then informed all the work Pep Boys had done was on the wrong side of my car. So I got another bill for $600.00 to correct the issue and double check their work. I go back to the manager with my complaint knowing they had been caught trying to rip me off after being a customer of Pep Boy since the 80’s. Unless you are having tires replaced or a new car battery don’t use them for they can no longer be trusted.

Absolutely horrible. "Replaced" my FR wheel bearing. Realized they put it on BACKWARDS after I left and did not once attempt to call or notify me. Mind you, wheel bearings are essential for break function and I drove over 80 miles per day for work until I took my car in to get the FL bearing replaced four days later. It was at that point that they told me of the mistake they made. I paid $420.00 for absolutely nothing. Essentially I paid for them to make my car worse because they messed it up a second time and now my car is not driveable. Mileage is the same in and out on both of my receipts which clearly means they did not even test drive it either time. The squealing coming from the front end is so bad now that my neighbors come out to make sure Im okay. (The squealing is the new problem which I never had until after getting my car back). Level of trust for this company = 0 . Ive been trying to contact corporate for over 4 days now to get a full refund because I now must pay someone else to fix the damages THEY caused and I simply DO NOT TRUST PEP BOYS. You can not LIE and continue to FAIL at the job someone pays you for, especially when it comes to someones SAFETY. 0 out of 5 DO NOT RECOMMEND

Ive been here several times for various things on different vehicles. Honestly, I dont know why though. I spent over $1,000 on tires for my pickup and didnt even get a "thank you" for my business or the smudges on my rims wiped off. When I sold the truck I put another $600 into it and they were less than polite again. However, they did a good job on it that time. Now Ive bought a used car and took it in to get a full tune up ($275). I went back to them because they do have a lot better hours than other people and they usually can get you in right away. The guy at the counter, I think his name was Dave, was very polite and explained everything and the prices. Over the 2 hour period that I was there the mechanic never came in to show me the old parts that he had removed or tell me anything about what was going on. When he did come in he did not even speak to me. He held my keys up and jingled them at me, turned around and tossed them on the counter with the paperwork, gave me an evil glare, and walked back outside. The labor cost me $150 out of the $275 so I think at least a smile would make me feel better about throwing my money away. Not happy!

I was driving my Mercedes-Benz ML320 from Ocean City to Salisbury on one given Sunday and the engine belt blew, I tried to call other repair shop but were closed due to Sunday, except Pep Boys. I called them to see if they can fix it, got an estimation of around $175. Reached there somehow driving without power steering, I told them to pull the old belt which is stuck somewhere and replace with a new one, they pulled my MB to their work place and told me the ac compression is seized, needs to be replaced and gave me an estimation of $1700, which I declined as I was not prepared without second opinion. I told them whats wrong in my MB but they still charged me $20 evaluation fee, and they refused to return my money. Drove somehow to a friends house, parked it overnite and called local Mercedes Benz exclusive workshop next morning, got everything done for $175. Will never go there, will never recommend anyone to go there and if u have to go, always get second opinion before stopping there.

While on vacation at the beach the tires on my car were vandalized. Not wanting to blow an already tight vacation budget on new tires I opted to have a set of used ones installed. The used tire shop did not balance the tires or use a torque wrench to put my wheels back on. I was hundreds of miles from home and this concerned me. I am a regular customer of the Pep Boys in Annapolis, so decided to stop into the store in Salisbury to see if they could help. I pulled up outside the service bays with my two kids asleep in the car. A mechanic named Dustin came over to see if he could help me. After I explained my situation Dustin got a torque wrench and checked all of my lug nuts for me. Then he wouldnt accept a tip. This may seem minor, but it made my drive home much less stressful knowing that my wheels were properly installed. Service like this is why I will continue to trust Pep Boys with my automotive needs in the future, starting with balancing my used tires. Thanks Dustin!
