My Tech, BOB (Tech #1137) came out to my place at around 7:30pm to clear a clogged pipe in the basement! He arrived on time, quickly/accurately diagnosed the problem, explained the process and paperwork, then started his work. He was professional, courteous, customer oriented, and worked efficiently. A technician was out the week before, cleaned out the Main line, but the Laundry line (although may have seemed fine at the time) was not flushed. When the line had backed up the second time, Bob explained the problem to be the Laundry line. Had the Laundry line been flushed during the time the 1st technician visited, it wouldve only been half the price. This was not offered to me during the 1st technicians visit. Unfortunately, Bob was unable to charge me half for the second job, but he applied a small coupon while acknowledging that the holidays were upon us. The following day, I called the billing dept., and they are reimbursing me half for the 2nd line. The Laundry line was worked on only a week later, so it is a no-brainer that they should do this from a customer relationship perspective. I appreciate that. Close to $700 to clean out the Main and Laundry line is not a good business practice, and they will find a depleted customer base (repeat customers) and bottom line over time. Theres little to no overhead here. If I need to have 5 lines flushed out (and I will) across all my properties in the next 12 months, assuming they charge a reasonable $350 instead of $700, then they would have me locked in as a repeat customer and make $1750 off of me in 12 months instead of a one time $700. And thats only in Year 1! Then I could recommend them to my landlord friends in the area. If they were at a more reasonable price point, my referrals alone would have gotten them at least an extra $10k-15k just in Year 1. And then those folks would be referring others. Now just multiply those numbers out and think about how much money theyre losing! Its crazy to think about. Plumbing issues always pop up, they should focus on keeping their existing client base then just one and done scenarios. I used them twice, but only called them the 2nd time because I thought it be covered under the warranty...different Line, so it wasnt. Everything is flat/minimum fee, so if they do have to come out at 12am, then you are being charged the same as someone getting work done at 12pm. MOST problems can wait to be worked on during normal business hours, where it would be just as easy to get a local guy and support small business My advice is to find a reliable local plumber/drain cleaner....same job most likely would be $300.....probably not even that. People demand reliable pipe cleaners who they will use over and over much like their barbers, mechanics, good restaurants, etc.

We had a leaky pipe in the basement this week, and could not find a local plumber. I had the same question a friend of mine asked after we called Roto-Rooter: “Does Roto-Rooter do plumbing? I thought they were just pipe cleaners.” Well, luckily I found out they are way more than pipe cleaners. I entered an online request for service, and I received a call back pretty quickly. I was still waiting for my plumber to call. The woman asked a few questions and told me the day and time to expect the service person. She said they would call when they were half an hour away, just to confirm and touch base. They did call on the day and time they said they would and a tech named Jim was sent to us to diagnose and fix our problem. He arrived exactly when they said he would and quickly assessed the situation and let us know exactly what the issues were and what needed to be done to take care of them. It seems our plumbing is old, and being old doesn’t necessarily mean bad; but our pipes were old and bad (corroded) and our plumbing system was not to code. Jim told us exactly what was wrong and exactly what was needed to be done to correct it. He also informed us about un-seen consequences and what the worst scenario would be. He didn’t pull any punches. He said the cast iron pipe was rotted too close to the bend and so he would have to follow the pipe up in the wall, find a good point to cut it and then connect the new pipe to that point. He told us the worst that could happen would be that the pipe would be rotted all the way up to the second floor. I won’t bore anyone with the details, except to say that Jim made every effort to get the job done and to make sure we knew what was happening every step of the way. He even asked us for Windex and paper towels to make sure everything was cleaned up. I can’t say enough good things about Jim. He is a credit to the Roto-Rooter organization. Lastly, if in the future I hear anyone say that Roto-Rooter is just for drains, I’ll tell them my story and then they’ll know better. Thanks, Jim, for all your efforts.

This was the first time I ever used Roto-Rooter. It was a Tuesday evening when I called and within 20 minutes Bob Tech 1137 and Garett showed up around 8pm. They were there for a few hours. They were phenomenal! I had no idea what to expect having never used this company before. And it can be a bit unnerving to have strangers show up at your house that you don’t know especially in the evening. Well, Bob and Garett far exceeded whatever my expectations were. Made me so comfortable from the get go. I have cognitive challenges but Bob explained everything to me from start to finish on what they had to do and what would happen in a way I understood. I had a major clog that when I flushed the toilet upstairs my downstairs toilet overflowed. I had just moved into this home in October so I was very concerned. When Bob and Garett finished, Bob told me that my sons bathtub was full with sewer but he cleaned it up! It never occurred to me to look in the bathtub. He went over and above what is expected. That is amazing customer service, a rarity to find these days. The pricing was very reasonable and I asked if I needed to be on a service contract (most companies would jump at that question) and Bob said nope. Gave me instructions on how treating my pipes going forward. As late as it was when they finished, (around 10:30pm) you would never know they were on the job all day. They made me feel reassured and like I was their only customer even though they told me they had emergencies throughout the day. I loved the idea of the technology of having a camera look through my pipes to make sure all is okay. Having just moved into this home we worried some pipes might be cracked or leaking and it turns out we were all clear. That technology provides such a level of comfort to the customers. The camera person called within minutes of Bob and Garett leaving and was at my house two days later. Thanks again Bob and Garett for making what could have been a nightmare seem like it was a nothing. You guys rock!!
