I rented a 10x10 storage unit in summer 2005 to accommodate a gap between apartments, Larry and his other staff were very friendly and helpful. The interior of the facility itself is clean, well equipped and orderly, a very good value overall and I felt confident leaving everything I owned of value in the unit :^) they had a variety of different carts to use to move items and I never had an issue locating one. I had no issues w/ billing, etc, it was all done to my credit card. They offered several different tiers of insurance as well. They sell packing material at reasonable prices too--stuff like locks, mattress bags, boxes, etc... One slight negative if youre looking to rent a parking space: I lived next door to the facility and parking at my apartment building was tight, so I ended up renting a parking space from them for a year+. It was not the best arrangement as I felt like the space was overpriced (you are charged the same amount to park a compact car as you for a 35 boat on trailer or RV which actually ends up taking up 2 spaces) and there are no assigned spaces, so if you were a "daily" user you were not guaranteed a specific space... although I never found myself not finding a spot, it was sometimes difficult to find a space because this facility does not have controlled access to the lot and so neighborhood people, or other commercial traffic not connected to the storage facility would sometimes park there.

Its worth noting that when you get a price quote / reservation ahead of time, the quote is only good for a period of time (I believe it was 14 days) and if you move in even 1 day after that period, they change the price without notifying you. Prices change all the time based on supply and demand and can be quite different from the quote you reserved it for, so do your homework on prices and call other companies before you sign on the dotted line. Although E.S. is convenient, there are many storage lockers in the Boston area that are not national chains and may be cheaper. I rented in July and August and found (from experience visiting the locker a few times on a hot day) that the 1st floor which claims it is "not climate controlled" feels the same temperature as the basement which is "climate controlled", and it could just be the lobby where staff are is on an A/C during office hours, but - just sayin... depending on the cost difference and the months youre renting a locker, you may want to save some money and effort and stay on the 1st floor for a lower price, because the basement involves a slow elevator. The staff here are friendly but not terribly helpful. Questions I asked were often literally answered with a shrug and sometimes a response of "I guess".

This was the best experience! Everything about this location and this staff was fantastic. Unit is always easily accessible, with plenty of carts to help you move your items. There are loading bays for trucks as well as other means to access at street level. Keypad code after hours meant I could access my unit any time day or night. I always felt my belongings were dry, room temp and secure. The staff is very helpful and will notice immediately if something is amiss; I moved the remainder of my belongings out after hours last night and got a call first thing this morning because the staff saw the lock gone and the unit was empty. I appreciate this awareness and concern on their part; this is hard to find these days! I cannot recommmend this location enough!

We love this place. We live in an apartment in Allston, and dont have tons of extra space for seasonal things in our own apartment. This location is about 10 minutes from Allston, and gives us an extra room to store all our stuff. There are always carts for use when we need to bring some things in or out. The staff has always been friendly and kind. Our space is not in the "climate controlled" section, but you would never know. Our previous experience at another self-storage facility (PS) was not nearly as stellar. THE OTHER GUYS never had carts, were way overpriced, and the staff was rarely friendly. Extra Space is a total 180, and everything the other guys arent.

Had my stuff in storage for a year while I was living abroad. Never had an issue with my unit and the staff was always extremely helpful and polite. The reason I took away one star is actually nothing to do with this particular location but with extra space storage itself. About 6 months in to having my unit and automatic bill payment I looked in my account and my rate has increased without notice. I called and they said they had mailed a post card notification to my house but as I was living abroad I did not receive it. Since there is an online account management system, that I had signed up for, I think sending email notifications would be very helpful.

Ive been renting a storage space at the Newton facility since May of 2015, and couldnt be happier with the customer service from Mike and Charlie. While Im 3000 miles away, I can be confidence that my things are safe and secure there. When I needed to work out an ownership transfer, I went to the local office in Palmdale, CA, and everything was straightened out painlessly between the two offices. The space is clean, secure, well-maintained, and the staff is always courteous and professional. Id recommend Extra Space to anyone looking for a storage facility, on either coast.

Charlie, Michael, and the rest of the Extra Space Storage team have been extremely helpful and accommodating as I was trying to coordinate a move. For the past 10+ years, whenever I have a storage need (business and personal), I immediately think of this place. The place is kept clean, is easily accessible, the units are all indoors (and they have climate control), and the staff are very friendly. I would absolutely recommend this place (and I already have)!

I currently use this storage unit and I am so happy with the service I get here. I am always traveling for work and they are happy to receive product for me when I cannot get there on time. Charlie, the manager, and their whole staff are always happy to help. Best part is they have a loading dock and climate controlled units, basically everything you could ever need for your storage needs.

Im storing personal items here. The staff are very friendly and able to answer all of my questions. Access is 24x7. Theres ample parking and access to the site. The lighting in my space could be better, but its more than sufficient for my purposes. (Its off-site storage, not an apartment.) Overall, this was a great decision and investment, too.

I needed temporary storage for some items. The staff, services and availability of different size units were all excellent. The units and entire facility were clean and well lit. Parking and a wide variety of carts were always available. This was my first experience with renting storage and I highly recommend it.

This is one of the best places. Super clean and climate controlled facilities, only a 10 min drive from Cambridge. We used a small storage area for my sons college furniture and small belongings over the summer months. Everyone was extremely friendly and particularly Michael S. at the front desk. Highly recommend.
