The owner Jen booked me for an appointment. Then on the day of the appointment she leaves me a voicemail saying that she removed me from her schedule because she is overbooked. She basically chose to remove me from her schedule and put another person in my spot. I am was a long time customer, but her rudeness makes me never want to come back. She also talks a lot of crap about her clients to me from my previous haircut appointments. I would stay away from this snake. What kind of salon cancels on their clients? Shes unprofessional. Talks badly about previous clients. I thought she only did that to certain customers but im pretty sure she talks behind my back as well. Not a good environment due to the owner being fake. I am nothing but polite, nice and thankful after every appointment and yet she still finds a way to bring negativity to the situation. I dont recommend giving this lady any more business. UPDATE in response to owner: What does what my brother who is 6 years older than me have to do with my appointment? Why are you relating what he does to me? I called asking for an appointment and you already gave me an attitude about it. You asked if I would cancel and I wasnt sure what you meant by that, so I guess you were still mad at my brother so you took it out on me. That is unprofessional. I have been going to your place for a while and I never cancelled and I still got crap for it. You even asked me.. "are you going to cancel?" I clearly responded with "no, its the weekend and I can definitely make it". You still cancelled my appointment.

It is almost impossible for working professionals to book a time with them! I have been there twice. They say theyre booked for weekends when I have seen that they close at noon itself on Saturdays and are closed on sunday. Once I booked an appointment for Saturday and Jen was very rude with me while cutting my harir! Almost implying that she can give me a bad haircut if shes angry with me coz I came on a Saturday! The last time, I booked an appointment on a weekday, and hust enquired hat their cancellation policy was, which I do at any place where book an appointment. The next thing I know they cancelled my appointment. I called them up to ask for the reason, and she said that because I wanted to know the cancellation policy, she didnt want to book an appointment for me. I dont know about you guys but this was totally absurd for me. I was always polite and friendly with the staff even though they were rude to me during my second visit but this was too much. So I wouldnt recommend this place unless you wanna live your school days and are in the mood to get a scolding from the headmaster. Disgrace to the Aveda brand!

Last year I went to a random salon in Watertown to have my hair trimmed with an inverted bob style to it.... The woman butchered my hair. I literally looked like a boy. Never cried over a haircut until then... So, a year later, I was very skeptical in finding someone who would be able to achieve the task of creating the ultimate inverted bob haircut..... Bianny at The Barbershop & The Salon is AMAZING. Ladies.... dont let the "Barbershop" scare you away. She is awesome. I told her exactly what I wanted and my hair came out amazing. Ive gotten so many compliments on it and the shape is just perfect. I told her what I wanted and she delivered perfectly. She is my new hair stylist and I will recommend ANY woman who needs a hair style to see her. She listens and makes sure she understands your vision before she starts to cut. So important. Prices are beyond reasonable. Go see Bianny!!!!

HORRIBLE. The owner Jen and her worker kept repeating to me " the reason why your hair is uneven is because thats how it was when you came in" literally. She cut 4 inches off the back making it almost one length and chopped the heck out of the front. Moreover, I paid for a senior stylist and for the top level quality lowlights to blend and deepen color, I left with 1 inch untouched dark roots, two inches of orange fading into a washed out brownish gray color with obvious flat effortlessly done results. I asked the owner to sit and check my hair, she would NOT" she said it looks great. I asked her to show me one single solitary highlight. She said this subtle because you did not want chunks. True, I did not want fat chunks of color but I did want at least a strand of color.

Worst haircut ever. First of all, the barber got into a discussion with me about religion and politics, including discussing her theories about vaccines and 911 conspiracies, which frankly I dont care to hear about. More importantly though, the haircut I received was embarrassingly asymmetrical, with hair one inch on one side and two inches on the other. I cannot imagine the barber was so incompetent for this to be an accident. My guess is that she did it on purpose because I didnt share her views (and told her so). I had to have a different barber shop fix what was butcher at The Barbershop & Salon. And even then they couldnt make it look totally normal. I will not be going back to The Barbershop & Salon again.

I am new to the Boston area. Having had my usual haircut in the same place in Chicago for years without thinking about it, I couldnt describe clearly what I wanted to the barber/stylist, Reda. I asked him twice to make it shorter - not a problem. An hour after leaving I came back and asked if I could get it substantially shorter. Not a problem. Reda was very gracious, refused an additional tip and I left with a great haircut. The space is attractively arranged, and the staff very friendly. I recommend you arrive a few minutes early- this will give you just enough time to pop next door to Fastachi - a small imaginative gourmet nut and chocolates store.

I have been getting my haircut at The Barbershop for about 12 years now. I lived in Watertown back when Jen and the crew worked out of the small shop right in the square. I moved to Somerville and then to Boston and still make the drive back once a month. The new location is much larger, always bright and clean, and the people working there are always very welcoming. I never go without making an appointment (highly recommended) and I am out of there in 30 minutes every time. Prices are reasonable and the quality is second to none. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed!

This place is great: clean, comfortable, friendly, reasonable prices and skilled stylists. Prodromos cuts my hair, and I highly recommend him. I am a queer woman with a short, faux hawk style, sometimes even shorter. Prodromos listens to what I want, he looks at my hair, and he takes time to get the cut right; he is very careful to get everything going in the right directions. My haircut grows out nicely, too. I skip the frills (hair wash, blow dry, etc.) and he charges me for a mens short cut price.
