I took my car in for front brakes and was told that upon inspection, I only needed front brake pads and the rotors were fine. They told me they also removed the rear pads and lubricated them and put them back on. Three hours later I get a call stating, I have some bad news. When our tech took your car out for a test ride to try the new brakes, as he was doing hard braking, the rear brake pad sheered off the backing and broke. so, I then needed rear brakes in addition. When I picked it up, the guy behind the desk was fairly rude when I expressed I was not happy. His response? ‘It would have happened sooner or later. We don’t make a practice of it, but we will take $50 off.’ However, the best part is that the next morning, when I viewed the passenger side, there was a big scrape along the rear panel, courtesy of Quality Lube. I called immediately and was told they would have Jennifer (the owner) investigate. On Monday I called again, and spoke with Jennifer, who told me she had not had time to pursue it but they wanted to ‘make it right.’ I found this interesting because (according to her), they didn’t even know if it had happened there. A couple days later, with some pulling, I was able to get her to admit a porter did it, and that they saw it on their tapes. She said he did not tell anyone, but I am thinking he did…that is why she was so willing to fix it sight unseen, no evidence or proof. They sent it to MAACO and had it repainted which took a week. They put in a compact rental and paid for the paint job. Not one time did Jennifer meet with me. She told me she would keep me posted on the progress every day. I did not hear from her for 4 days. When Jennifer finally called me on Monday, she was not honest about the progress on my car (I heard it straight from MAACO when I called them on Friday). Not one time did they offer compensation for the brake repairs they did the day they damaged my car. They have offered nothing to make-up for their lack of truth, unprofessional business practice and the inconvenience to me. Doing what they are required by law is not compensation. It is duty.

My reply to the owner: Much of your response is utter nonsense, as it does not accurately reflect what the OEM (Chrysler MOPAR) actually recommends. CLEARLY you are recommending services that many people and their cars really DO NOT NEED. Therefore I stand by my review! BUYER BEWARE at ALL OIL CHANGE places, they almost all do this and Quality Lube is NO DIFFERENT. I thought they were, but they arent. Be well informed before you go to these places, and DO NOT let them sell you products and services that you DO NOT NEED!!!!!! My original review: They tried selling me services that I didnt need at all. For example, the guy came up to my window with what he said was a sample of my differential (gear) oil and said, "Yours looks like this (a little bit dirty) and it should look like this (showed me a small amount of new oil). "We also found these metal shavings (which BTW is perfectly normal and no problem), and so for $59.95 we can change your gear oil." The problem is that under normal circumstances most folks will NEVER need to change their differential oil EVER. And my cars only 2 yrs old with just 30,000 miles! So NO WAY does it need the differential oil changed!!! Call it what you want, but in my book these guys are rip-off artists!!! They also tried selling me an engine oil flush and fuel injector cleaning treatment, which is also NOT NEEDED on most cars under normal circumstances, and certainly not at 30,000 miles. Its one thing to suggest services a car might actually need, but its another to INTENTIONALLY push services that they know darned well arent necessary. So go somewhere else that doesnt do that and BUYER BEWARE. Good luck, these places are mostly all the same.

Update(7/30/2015): After creating the initial review, the owner called our house and discussed the problems with my wife. We took the bad strut to Quality Lube and they examined and said he would discuss with the manufacturer, we were then told we would get a phone call on the following Wednesday. On Wednesday we received a phone call and we were refunded for the part and labor for the strut. I was impressed by the owners honesty and openness during this situation. I have updated my rating from 2 stars to 4 stars, because of the interaction that has taken place in the last week and based on ownerships care to go out of their way to call about this and resolve the issue. I will consider going back for more repairs now as well as continue with oil changes. (Original Post) : I am disappointed. We had to have both struts replaced and some power steering work done. First thing I noticed after the repair, is they did not align my wheels. So I had to schedule another time to get that done (which I did with another establishment). The power steering issue didnt seem to fixed as we were still experiencing issues, so we had to schedule another time to take it back, we were told their were air bubbles in the power steering line and needed to be corrected. The final straw was a week after the work we heard a rattling sound coming from the front of the car. We decided to take it somewhere else and they verified that the strut was bad, so they did not even fix the problem we experienced initially. I was hoping to use them more and more as I liked how they handle the oil change process, but I am not going to go back for car repairs.

My visit was fantastic. Matt, my mechanic, went above and beyond what he needed to. He was very polite. I went in for just an oil change but he ended up topping off my windshield washing fluid and inflating my tires free of charge. He checked my lights and found my passenger brake light was out. When I said I am comfortable changing it myself he completely understood and did not push their service on me whatsoever. He gave me numerous coupons and let me know (but wasnt pushy) about their other services. As this was my first time getting my oil changed (and my comfortability around my vehicle) I asked if I could watch them change the oil so I could potentially do it myself. Matt not only walked me through the process but he checked with his supervisor who allowed me to go underneath the car. He showed me exactly where my oil plug and oil filter are located. He explained everything very nicely and clearly. Seriously such a positive experience. One of the staff members even commented on my aftermarket backup camera. Their entire staff seemed friendly. I went in expecting an oil change. Walked out with that plus topped off fluids, inflated tires, new technical knowledge, and a smile on my face. Definitely recommended. Ill undoubtedly be going there for my next service.

To me, the most important quality in a company is integrity. I recently moved to Michigan and since I dont know a lot about cars, I prefer a mechanic who will tell me everything - not only about the problem, but also regarding the different options available to me and what the best choice might be (taking price into consideration). Ive taken both my cars in for oil changes and have been impressed with their speed as well as with the quality of work performed. In my home state, an oil change was was just an oil change and never consisted of all of the other little things this company includes (like checking fluids, filters and the air in the tires). I also recently went in for a check engine light issue. After they took care of the problem, the light came on again and we realized that there was a different issue creating a lot of smaller problems in my car. They not only met but exceeded my expectations regarding the whole process and when all was said and done, they didnt even charge me for the extra time and labor associated with diagnosing the problem since it was related to my previous visit. Theyre always open and honest and to me thats something you cant put a price tag on.
