I have never been humilated like I was today at Planet Fitness in Canton, MI. For the past couple of weeks I have been trying to change my membership. First I called, they told me to just come in and when I got there, they told me I needed a credit card present. Great!! who brings a credit card to the gym. They already have my billing info on file for the past year in a half. Anyways, finally I bring the credit card with me and they tell me its going to be $59.99 to change my membership because I joined in July of 2012 and my year wasnt up. I did not join in the summer, I knew I joined in the winter. (Thats when we get fluffy!). So I came home and found my paperwork and sure enough I joined in Dec. of 2011. My year was up. I went to the gym on Saturday and brought my credit card with me, finally a competent employee. Yes, I could change my membership at no charge, I gave her my credit card and signed the papers all done!!! So I thought! Well today, I went to the gym gave my membership# and she told me there was a problem with my billing, I told her I changed membership the day before, so she was going to look into it. I went to the locker room to put my coat away and came out and asked if everything was ok. She said she hasent looked yet. I went and got on the treadmill and started my workout, the employee came over to me and said there employee on Saturday forgot to swipe my credit card, and that I had to take care of this. I said fine, let me finish my workout and Ill go to my car when Im done and get my credit card. She had to check with the manager. The manager approached me and told me I had to take care of this now, it could not wait. I"m already on the treadmill WARMED up doing my workout. They want me to go get my coat on, run to my car, get my credit card to swipe it and run back out to my car, come back in to the locker room and then continue my workout? Who does that? Ive been a member for awhile now. And besides my current month is paid in full until the 17th of this month and your not going to let me finish my workout! Whats 45 more minutes? What if I didnt go to the gym today?? What if I didnt change my membership the other day?? Then there would have been NO billing issues!! Like 45 minutes is going to make a difference. They made me get off the treadmill humilated in front of these people in the gym like Im stealing from them. I told her to cancel my membership, I no longer want to be a member here. Not being treated like that. She told me I would still be charged for the month, (meaning next month.) that I should have canceled my membership yesterday. Like I knew yesterday, that you people were going to treat me like this.Thought there was a problem with my billing info.??? Guess my credit card numbers will magically appear in there system when I get automatically charged on the 17th

This was one of the worse days of my life,going to Planet Fitness, I taught it was the place for me to work out and not being judged. I have never felt so humilated and discriminated at like today. While working out at the Canton Center Planet Fitness this morning. I was ask to move my bench because it was blocking people from getting by behind me,so I did. my guest were with me which happens to be my husband,who was also working out with me,he was also ask to move his bench backwards, forward, and to the side which he did.That"s about three times he had to move to facilitate other people. While working out up came this woman,wanted to use one or the machines.right next to his work out bench, She ask my husband if she was in his way he preceded to tell her she might get hurt if she gets between there, she then ask him to move so she could workout, that will be the fort time within an hour, my husband said to her I am on my last set of reps and then I am gone,she preceded to squeeze herself between him and the machine,he then told her you might get hurt doing that, she went ahead any way and started to do her squats everytime she squat down her butt went in his face,so he stop working out and just sit there,when she was done with her first set she said to him "I do not understand you I am going to get the manager". Here comes the desk clerk and ask him to move again, he said she had already done one set so she need to finish,so I guess what he was asking is for him to put his workout on hold while she finished hers. It seems like all we were doing this morning was giving way to everyone else and being move and push around for everyone elses convenience,putting our workout on hold, until they were all satisfed, and then we can go back to what we were doing. My husband told the clerk he is not moving anymore until he has finished his workout which is not long again, he said to him I have only one more set to do and and I am gone. The clerk preceded to raise his voice and told him if he did not move he was going to cancell his membership, he then ask him to leave because he was cancelled. I tried talking to him but he will not listen, I even held his hand to get his attention,and ask him to listen to what I had to say,but he just pull away and left. He then call the cops and cancelled my membership without asking or trying to find out what happen. I felt like back of the bus today. If we did something wrong Please I will like your feed back on this. The cops said he felt my frustration but there was nothing he could do because it was a private place, and they have their own rules and policies. I paid my money just like everyone else. I guess we were already judged and convicted without a trial.I am open to suggestions and feedback

BEWARE OF PLANET FITNESS!! I got a text last week from Planet Fitness -- said my bill was due -- I figured it was a typo and ignored since I have never stepped inside a Planet Fitness in my life. I received a voicemail for the same thing. I called to let them know they had the wrong person -- turns out they think I have a membership - which is a good trick (let me say again) seeing has I have never set foot inside a Planet Fitness. I called the club, explained my issue and was told that my membership to Fitness 19 had been sold to Planet Fitness ( I went to Fitness 19 one time to work out with a potential trainer). I never went back nor did I know I had a membership. The helpful (not) person, Raj on the phone said (with so much arrogance) that Planet 19 had the right to sell my membership. I asked if it could be sold without my knowledge? I explained I was never told I had a NEW membership. He said yes it can be sold. I asked how I was to be informed of the sale and he did not know. I asked to have my membership cancelled and any charges cancelled immediately. He said I would have to come into the club to do that AND that I had to pay $9. I asked for his boss. He said he did not have one, he was the general manager. I said we all have a boss, who owns the club? He informed me he would not give out that information. I called an AA Planet Fitness and asked if this was their policy (buying memberships for predatory billing) and they said they had never heard of such a thing and how could I owe $9 - their fees are either $10 or $15. The AA club suggested I call corporate. The number at corporate only rings without answer of directs you back to the club. So I have to go out to Canton to cancel a gym membership I did not ever use (or know I had) and pay $9 so I do not have a black mark on my credit report!!!!! I know it is only $9 but think if they did that to everyone who ever waked into all the gyms from which they purchase memberships! What a scam. Does this general manager Raj - really not get it? Is it worth the $9 to create this amount of ill will? Guess we shall see.
