I joined the Boll Family YMCA in December of 2015 and I am very glad that I did. I have joined several gyms over the course of 3-4 years, with a conscious effort to keep cost down. However, because of this, something was always lacking from each gym. Some didnt have classes, others didnt keep their equipment clean and up to date, etc etc. After receiving a mailer from the Detroit YMCA regarding a free months membership if I "joined today," I decided to take a tour. I was impressed. The facility is very large and very clean, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and the offerings are extensive. I do not have kids so I cannot comment on the programs, but the YMCA has everything I need to achieve my health goals: a great weight room, group classes, a track, and a gymnasium. The only negative comment I have about this particular YMCA is some inconsistencies with their group glasses. There have been a handful of times where I have shown up for a class that was on their online schedule, but an instructor either wasnt there or showed up late. This is particularly frustrating for me when I show up for a morning class as I am on a tight schedule for work. I HIGHLY recommend taking classes with their instructors Rachel and Cheryl. They are great.

I sent my child to their child care facility for three months. At first I was quite happy. All the teachers seemed great and the kids did a lot of activities. I was especially excited that they went to the library every week. Until one day I walked over there to find out that they go over to the library to watch videos. I noticed the care providers would yell across the room to the children, instead getting up and talking to them on their level. The last straw was when it came time to sign a new contract, they increased my automatic debits by $80 without informing first. When I told them this would not work for my family, they took the money anyway. Upon asking for a refund, I was told it would take 2-4 weeks to get back over $400. Im not quite sure WHY it only took them 1 day to take the money, but it takes at least 14 to return it. Upon trying to contact the executive director, I was repeatedly ignored. I would not send my child to their facilities for child care. Theyre more about business and their bottom line than the true care and nurturing of children.

If you are seeking childcare from the Boll Family YMCA, please ask these questions: 1. How many Program directors have been employed from the last 3 years, ( 2014-2017 5 program directors) Why? 2. Ask if all people connected in your childs room has proper credentials, & is cpr trained 3.please if you do enroll your child DO MANY surprise visits, you may be surprised on what you see. 4. Look up their past licences through Lara , review pass complaints 5.Ask what curriculum they use,is it researched based, or just a mix of nothing If you are paying money, your child should have the best, not substandard education

I registered my daughter for a program online. The program ended up being cancelled and I was told to expect my refund within 3-5 days. Never happened! Called several times to find out why and was always put through to an answering service to leave a message. Left several messages and never once did I received a call back. Finally, two weeks later, I called any and all #s I could find and actually reached a person. Found out my refund was never processed and to expect it in a few days. Flat out unacceptable!!!!! And if I could, I wouldnt even give them 1 star.

This is a very nice gym right in Downtown Detroit. The facility is new and clean. Their staff are all very nice. They have a nice locker room with showers and towels available. I am taking the core Strength class and the personal trainer does a good job. The only problem is parking but I usually park on the street and it cost me about $2 dollar for 2 hours. I can also get some discount in the garages nearby.

Multiple terrible experiences with the front desk girl named something with a B I think Brittany.... an utter disgrace to customer service for the Y. Feel sorry for her and the leadership....she should fold towels and clean bathrooms anything to keep her away from the first point of contact

This place is awesome. I was downtown for the afternoon and got to lap swim, sit in a 95 degree huge Jacuzzi and had a hot shower with swimsuit dryer, hair dryer, towel and more. Everyone was so helpful and awesome. I will be back for my workout. I wish I had pictures.

Good place for general fitness equipment downtown. Features an indoor track, a pool, fitness classes, and a range of cardio equipment. There are free weights here, but it is not suited for power lifting.

Greedy and ignorant. Everyone has to live in the same home to get memberships together. Thats obsurd! Very greedy and shallow of a community center

The kiddie swim lessons are Wonderful!! The swim coaches are Very patient and the lifeguards are Very Assertive and Productive!
