Martino does not warranty cracks, even if they occur 6 weeks after they have rushed through an end-of-the-season concrete job. It says this in the contract that I did sign, so my review is not about the cracks.....I was upset to have paid $5600 for a cracked driveway, but it could have happened with any other company. My problem is with their customer service and communication.....in my opinion, the worst of any contractor I have worked with. Steve sold us the driveway in August, 2016. When I questioned him about whether cracks occur often or whether they might place strategic cuts so that cracks like those in our prior driveway would not happen, he said that Martino has a great reputation and if there are any problems, Martino himself would make it right. It was November 2016 when they poured our driveway (3 months after signing the contract). It seemed quite late in the season, considering the prior year we had had a pre-Thanksgiving snow storm. Indeed, it rained right after they poured the concrete, so they covered the new concrete with plastic (8 months later, you can still see the where the plastic and fall leaves stuck to the wet concrete). We received no instructions (only 1 of the workers on our site spoke English) about removing the plastic nor were we reminded to back-fill (within 10 days) the gullies next to the driveway where the wooden frame had been. Back-filling by the customer is in fine print in the contract (just to remind future customers to have several bags of dirt on hand), but with the rain and snow that soon arrived, it would likely have washed out. It snowed in December and 2 large cracks occurred on the driveway within 6 weeks of when it was poured. I took pictures December 22, and submitted them in December as requested by Martino, and they told me they would be out in the spring to deal with it. They did not address the issue until the end of July 2017 and only after several phone calls over the time from April-July. Ultimately, Carl, who came out to look at the cracks in late July, conferred with Martino and they determined the cracks were due to water....not something they could control. If Martino wasnt going to warranty any type of crack, even right after pouring, why did it take 8 months for them to get back to me with no helpful resolution?

I had Martino out to do some concrete. I really wanted to be able to leave them 5 stars, because the guys are great. My sales guy, Carl, was really personable and a good guy to talk to. The office personnel where really nice when they called me to welcome me "to the family", which was a nice touch. The crew was respectful and professional. But, Im reviewing a finished product, not the character of the people. It took a little while to get the concrete installed. Martino and Carl said they were busy and there were other customers in front of me, also, some rainy days pushed my install date out. First, my job was inside and it was in fact raining the day they came and installed the concrete, so they could have came sooner during one of the rain days and installed mine, but instead I stayed in que. Second, not having additional crews to be able to keep up with their demand is not my problem. After originally leaving a one star review because I was tired of waiting for my concrete to be installed, and some colorful language from Mr. Martino, I was finally able to get my install pushed up. When the crew came to install the concrete I was out of town on a business trip, so was not able to make sure everything got done to my expectations. When I got home Carl came by to do a final walk-around and sign off on the job. Unfortunately, I should not have done that before cleaning the quarter inch of dust from cutting the stress reliefs off of the cement so I could see all of the defects. I made it clear that I wanted to epoxy the concrete, yet I was left with DEEP broom brush marks. The cement was uneven in places where water puddled when I was washing the dust off. The broom marks are uneven and sloppy. And then, theres the foot prints... FOOT PRINTS. IN MY CEMENT! Im sure Ill here more colorful language from Martino for this post, but whatever. Do the job right the first time. Its cement, Its poured, its dry, theres not much that can be done about it now. My suggestion is to read the other reviews on here and yelp and other sites about the quality of their cement work and then make your decision wisely.

First when the representative came out he explained everything and was very nice, found out later the company let him go. We had to call the company to numerous times to fine out what was going on. When the crew finally came out we were told there was suppose to be 5-6 guys and that our roof was going to be done in one day. It took two days to finish the roof. Well when the crew did show up it was two guys, a lady and a toddler and another child. They did not come to the door to introduce themselves, did not know who was walking around on our property. I had to go out and ask who they are and ask why they had children here. I asked them if the company knew that the children were there and one said yes, well I called and the company did not know nothing about children coming to a work site. Eventually the lady left with the children but showed up twice during the day. The crew complained about the location of the dumpster. When asked not to smoke on our property, one guy commented "Well I guess we should not have taken this job." When asked to explain what they are doing one guy said, They did not have to explain anything and did not take orders from us. They were not concerned about the landscape, some flowers were broken off signs were broken. There were no port a jons on the property and they had to use our woods, it was very hot. They broke in to our electric meter and hooked up their air compressor, instead of running an extension cord. They did not say a thing about our electric meter. Their crew was very rude. To top it off this company sent us a bill for the balance due, and there was postage due on the envelope. I would NOT recommend this company. we emailed them but there was no reply finally after about three weeks they decided to pay for the flowers.

I needed my driveway replaced, repair was not an option. As usual I contacted three companies. Martino Home Improvement was the last that I had scheduled to interview and from whom to get an estmate. I met with Charles Norstrand. He did the initial survey of the proposed job, described the process used (cement mix, base, etc.) and price. I gave them the job. I had received a lesser quote in terms of estimates, but I was impressed by Charles Norstrands presentation and knowledge and I had learned a long time ago, a lesser price may not always be a bargain; generally, you get what you pay for. The Project Manager, Saverio Montalto, came out 2 - 3 days prior to start to verify measurements. The breakup and install started around 08:00 and by 3:36 p.m. the driveway was installed. They came back at about 07:55 the next morning to do cleanup (put mulch back, landscape bricks, etc) and finish cutting the lines, etc (dont know the technical term). My driveway was the fourth driveway installed within my immediate area. The difference, mine was by Martino Home Improvement. The others, I do not know who did theirs, but in each of those other cases it took 3 - 4 days from old driveway demolition to pouring the concrete. Martino had mine done basically in one day. The workers with whom I interacted were polite and friendly and they got the job done and done well. I do not know about any other area of home improvement Martino Home Improvement performs because I have not employed their other services. However, with respect to concrete driveway installation. I am very pleased at this point. Good job. Thanks guys (and ladies in the office, Mary and Shannon)!
