Tom the manager has to Go!!! I recently went to the Goodyear service Center located at 226 South Main Street, Rochester, MI to fix a brake related issue on our Truck,...and had the same dishonest experience that these other unfortunates have had. Tom not only denied doing something wrong - he even tried to blame my wife for giving him incorrect information when he asked her to describe the problem with our vehicle. I have auto repair & design expereince,....and what we were experiencing was an ABS related issue that caused the brakes to cease working at very low speed (3-5mph). The first thing she mentioned to Tom (she took the vehicle in for service due to my being unavailable to do so myself) was not only what the vehicle was specifically doing wrong, but asked Tom to thoroughly check the ABS System (my guess was an ABS sensor-the problem only occurred at the Left Front wheel). He claimed they did a test drive, and determined that the truck "needed a brake job" due to the rust ring around the outer & inner edges of the rotors (as if that would "suddenly" cause that problem at low speeds- yeah right). So,....they do the brake job, my wife pays & picks the vehicle up, and she immediately notices the issue not resolved. I take the next day off work to deal with this clown directly,....go there take it for a test drive (with him),...asked him enough technical questions to put him on the spot (any person knowing anything about engineering or mechanics would ask) ,.....and of course once he painted himself into a corner with his lies and contradictions - he blames my wife for misleading him - while shes not around to defend herself!!! Bad plan,.....my wife is an extremely honest, accurate and able technical professional who has no problem communicating, and her Naval & professional career records speak very positively for themself) After Tom takes the vehicle in for another look at the ABS system (this time) - OMG! what-da-ya know!!! Its the LF ABS sensor located inside the wheel bearing after all!!!! And of course we never needed a brake job (those were good for another 15,000 miles or more). So he pocketed $300 for something that didnt need to be done - no excuses, no apologies, charged us an additional $375 for the work that should have been done to begin with, and also tried to paint my wife as the reason for the "misunderstanding". Needless to say - well never be back!! Its bad enough that folks have struggled this past year with the economy and all - but when the manager of a reputable company name like Goodyear refuses to take responsibility for his mistakes (mis-deeds) then resorts to cheating, and robbing folks to help his own bottom line - something needs to be done!!!! My biggest regret is not reading these other reviews before I went to this opportunistic a@#s shop. Ill be contacting Goodyear Corporate headquarters and reporting this clown there too!! By the way - the Firestone/Bridgestone Service Center down the street has very favorable reviews.....will be trying them next time.

I had my tires balanced at this location and more recently got an oil change and my tires rotated. Afterward,a couple weeks ago, I got a flat tire. When my brother attempted to put on a spare, he found that one of the lug nuts was stripped and we had to take the car to service place in Indiana, where I got the flat, so they could use a special tool to get it off. Since the Rochester Goodyear was the only one to touch my tires since they were first put on the car, I assumed that they stripped the lug nut and didnt replace it because it was a dealership part. When I asked the manager to reimburse me the $20 for the lug nut he said that he would not be responsible for someone elses mistake. I said "you were the last one to service the tires!!" He said that fault could not be confirmed because someone else had worked on the car. I said, "how would I know that the lug nut was stripped unless work needed to be done, are you saying my brother stripped it and lied about it?" He gave me crap about how they always use the correct torque settings and that if it was stripped then it would have fallen off. Im sorry, but just because Im a woman doesnt mean that Ive never changed a tire nor does it mean that I dont understand that since the nut is threaded on both sides that it can be stripped from either side. The man was a complete jerk, and I will never go to that location again. I have a long history with the Goodyear Hi-Tech in Grand Rapids, and I thought I could trust other Goodyears, but the quality and care is not equal throughout.

Dropped the car off for an alignment underwarranty, and Tom did not want to do the alignment because apparently specs on an previous alignment not matching is enough to void the warranty. However the car has never been touched and has been driven a lot of miles however no where close to the warranty limit. (Ive gone 6,000 miles in 4 months). Tom reluctantly took the car anyways and I had to call back 8 hours later to find out they did not align it because it was out of spec and the car had magically gained some frame damage and that was why it would not be aligned under warranty. I know one of the technicians there and I spoke with him about why the car would not be covered and he did not have any reasoning as to why it shouldnt be covered and him and another associate agreed that there was no damage either. However now I am stuck with an invoice saying the car has frame damage when there is none at all. I dealt with corporate goodyear and they did absolutely nothing to resolve the issue. Needless to say when I went and picked up the car today Tom was there and treated me in an unprofessional way including speaking to both technicians I talked to and verbally abusing them in his office for being honest with me. I will not go back to this location ever. However their technician Phil and Joe do great work but it must be embarrassing to work for a manager like Tom.

AVOID THIS PLACE. I Installed Winter tires on my SUV. After 1 and a half hour they contacted me to say that one of the technicians "realized" that there was a mysterious noise on one tire and then discovered that one of my Tire Pressure Monitor Sensors was broken. I said it was weird because when I dropped my SUV the sensors worked well, otherwise the tell tale on the display would have illuminated. They told me that they can replace the sensor for $90+ but in order to "help me" they would make a generous discount of $10 dollars. I had two options: take my vehicle with one sensor missing, then buy the sensor (lets say $70 in Amazon) and then install it in another place (lets say $30) plus my wasted time or take their generous offer. Even though Im 100% convinced that my sensors were ok when dropped my car, with my two little ones badly wanted to go back home I decided to give my money away to these guys and paying for what I think it was their mistake. I can still sue this place but Its not worth to go that way for $90, so I hope they use my extra $90 well and make some savings to invest in training their technicians to avoid damaging TPMSs when replacing tires. There is no way I take my car to this place again.
