They came out last Friday to do routine maintenance using a cutter on my sewer line. On Sunday, with out of town guests in my home, I found sewage in my basement around the drain. Called Murray and was told they dont guarantee their sewer work and it will cost an additional $130 something for someone to come out on Sunday. I asked to speak with a manager and I was told one would call. No one called. I called Monday afternoon and was told the manager "Brian" would call in one half hour. Brian didnt call, either. Tuesday morning I put a stop payment on the check. This is the first time I have EVER put a stop payment on a check. Ive used Murray for the last five years and the last time they were here I had the same problem, except they came back and realized that they hadnt pushed the tree roots out to the street so they fixed the problem and all was fine. This time they wont even call. Their yellow pages ad says "Customer Satisfaction Guaranteed". What a joke!!

I have used DJ Murray several times over the past years and they are always friendly and responsive. Lets face it, nobody really wants to spend money on drain snaking, etc. But - when you cant flush a toilet, or you can swim in your basement, you need a plumber. This time, the solution was to water jet my drain after having it snaked almost every year. It seems expensive at first, but these guys are pros they will jet your sewer line back to like it was when it was new and run a camera through to make sure every root has been cut right out and the pipe is smooth again. Its a bit like insurance, its expensive - but now I know I dont need to worry about that drain again. You can see by the pic below the roots that were still in the pipe after snaking it. I didnt take an after photo because it was pretty un-interesting as it was just a very clean pipe. Thumbs up to Dan and Tony as well as the rest of the team that tried snaking it before the water-jet.

I recently bought a house in Royal Oak and had DJ Murray come out to check my sewer line and diagnose a back up I was having in the basement. They came out and convinced me that my sewer line needed to be hydrojetted. They gave me a quote of 800-1200 to do the work (of course it ended up being 1200). They performed the work and told me to call them if I had any trouble with the same isse, because I should be good for awhile. This was in March and I just moved in the beginning of August. I did a load of laundry and the same back up occurred. When I called to see if they would be willing to come out and inspect their work they informed that there would be a trip charge of $89.99. I dont believe it to be good business to charge me to check work that they did and supposedly stood behind. There are many plumbing options in Royal Oak and I would suggest going elsewhere as I will be doing.

I had my drain snaked at my unoccupied rental house 11/8/16, the young man they sent out, Tony, had never seen my older system. He snaked it anyway and it appeared to be working. The charge was $185.00 After having tenants in the house a week, it started backing up again. When I called back on 12/12/16, I was informed by a very very rude receptionist that since its been a month and that theres no warranty on drain snaking, they could not help me except to send someone out again. Basically, I lost $185.00. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. She told me "we cant please everyone". I called another company in Ferndale that is coming out AND bringing a camera which is included in the price of their drain snaking services.

Rude and unprofessional. I made an appointment with these guys, my tenant needed to take time off for between 12 and 2 PM, when they dont show up I called them by 2:30. When I call them the guy doesnt even apologize, says he can be there in a minute, and without soliciting them he starts giving me very high estimates to discourage me: $185 or more to change a gas valve on an oven, over $285 for a gas valve replacement on a range, when I questioned him he simply says "Im out on this one, buddy" and hung up on me. Not only unprofessional but rude! these guys made my tenant miss work and forced them to spend another day without range.

Wont be using your services, after Tony came and charged me 350.00 to run the snake was told that price was with the camera too, well didnt run the camera but I paid them. Asked for an estimate and was told he was another 375.00 for that service. Every time I talk to these guys the price goes up and up. Because they dont make money from doing the work , too much over head with insurance and paying the crew and Etc. Etc. Thinking maybe my job would have been too much work for them , because they truly dont want the tough jobs.. Call around there are hard working honest plumbers out there , This Company isnt one of them..

Do you need plumbing services? Dont hesitate to call DJ Murray Plumbing, Inc. All the downspouts on my home are connected to two(2) separate drain systems, both plugged up. Explained the problem to DJ who said they could fix it. They came to my home within 2 days notice, on time, with the correct equipment and two employees who both knew what they were doing. They listened to my input, started the job and three(3) hours later I had functioning downspout drains, just like new. Now the best part; they charged me only 3/4 of the initially quoted price. I had an issue with my drain backing up causing a bit of flooding in my basement. I called DJ Murray on the recommendation of my brother who had used them with a similar problem before. They came out the next day, discussed my options with me, and then busted their butts to get the job done thoroughly and efficiently. Dan and Tony were friendly, hard working, and professional. On top of that, when I got the bill it was less than what they had quoted me! I would recommend DJ Murray plumbing to anyone in the Royal Oak area.

After being told by another plumbing company (local chain) that my sump pump problem was going to cost us $1800, I contacted DJ Murray Plumbing and within 2 hours of my call (during normal business hours, not a 24 hour emergency call), a plumber was at my house. Not only was the office manager pleasant and professional, the plumber was honest and very thorough and after less than $400 everything was fixed. Awesome company! DJ Murray Plumbing will be my only call the next time I need a plumber. Thanks so much!

They took advantage of a friend. Overcharged for hydro jetting, $1200. Then 3 months later the same backup was occurring and they want to charge $90 just to come out and review their work. DO NOT USE. For the rates they charge it will be cheaper and better to go with a more reputable brand.
