RUN FROM THIS CROOK! John acts all nice and caring when hes a rotton deep down crook. He completely scammed me on repairing my transmission! I called to have my car towed there and looked at because it wasnt working, he was very nice and inviting on the phone and seemed like he really cared, Im an older women that doesnt know much about cars and I think he got that hint because now that I look back he was asking technical questions to see how much HE CAN STEAL FROM ME!! Ended up being my transmission needed repair, he said we should be able to fix it and I will give you a call within 3-4 days to tell you exact costs because I dont know which parts it will need yet, I was happy and perfectly fine with that because he said it would be anywhere between $700-$900. 5 business days go by and I still havent heard from John or his wife that runs the front office, so I give them a call and he says he been super busy and didnt look at it yet but I was next in line. 3 days later, no call back so I call again and finally get him on the phone and he said he just finished looking at it and was about to call me, he sounded very annoyed that I called to check!! So he goes and tells me it cant be repaired and will need replacing, he said he can probably find a used one for $1500-$2000, now Im very depressed and stressed, Im a widow who lives alone and needs to get to work and have been asking friends and family for rides. Call me back 4 days later and says he couldnt find a used one, the only option is a brand new transmission from the dealer, but he can get a discount on it because he buys from them all the time. He said it would be $3000 installed!! My jaw dropped!! I told him I would get back, I called 3 other places and they were all $3000-$4000 so I figured the car was already there and its been 2.5 weeks now!, that I should go ahead and do it, took another 2 weeks to get it out and THEN weeks later Im getting a oil change through my late husbands friends drive through on Van Dyke and we talked about the trans etc and I had to buy a new one, he said new one?! This is the original under here!!!!!!!! Sorry this dragged on so long, I had to vent!!! Im currently looking for a lawyer and am going to sue this SCAM ARTIST! STAW AWAY!! John I will see you in court you piece of trash!!

Never, ever, again. The clutch cable snapped on my mustang - so I had it towed to this shop. They didnt bother to look at the car for 2-3 days. Then they had to wait to order in the cable, which they ordered over night shipped at my expense, ofcourse - buy by then it was Friday, so it wouldnt be there till Monday. Everytime I called for an update - theyd only answer the phone about half the time. And EVERYTIME I got them on the phone, the owner John would tell me "itll be done today" - and it would never get done. It was having issues starting, so rather than calling me and updating me on parts it needed, etc - he would just add the parts and charge me for them. Finally after a week and a half - I called them Four times that day and told them I HAD to have the car that day. By 5:30, I still hadnt heard from them - and they close at 6. I went up there myself to find three mechanics surrounding my car and one banging on the carburetor with a wrench. Apparently, the carb that had no issues when the car went in there - is suddenly having major issues. Better yet? No one there has a clue about carburetors nor can they recommend me to anyone. This is DETROIT "motor city" - and every single muscle car in the area is probably running the same Holley carb. I made a deal with owner, john - call me tomorrow at noon, Ill give you an update - if he can fix it, hell charge me a half hour labor - if not, he wont charge me. I call at noon -no answer. Call at 1230 - he answers - havent been able to look at it. Told me to Call him in an hour. I call him in an hour and a half. No answer. Drive up there - cars sitting - no ones working on it. At this point I told him I didnt want him to work on my car anymore and I had it towed out of there. Thank god this was my toy car and not my daily driver. It took over a week and a half for them to do 3 hours worth of labor (starter and clutch cable) and the car left with another issue it had going in. Better yet, the tow truck driver told me that they hear of issues at this shop all the time. Wouldnt recommend this shop to my worst enemy.

Terrible!!! I took my Explorer up there with coolant problems. John the owner told me it was my head gaskets..he said it would take 5 days, I said ok..after my car being there for 2 weeks It still wasnt ready. Every time I called he told me another excuse for it taking longer. I said I have to have my car back, because we were renting a car. I had to threaten with a attorney to get it back. When I got it back i took it to another shop to make sure they did the work they claimed. Come to find out he didnt do any work to it at all!!! It was still leaking coolant, it ended up being my radiator! He is the most dishonest mechanic Ive ever had to deal with. Reconsider if your planning on using him. I chose him because of the good reviews I did see, thats why I feel it is important to get the truth out there regarding his dishonesty and poor workmanship

We all have car problems and we all want to find a place to go that we can trust. Yes, budget is a concern as well but I think if you are like us finding someone you can trust is the primary goal. We found that in John and crew at Shelby Auto Care....they always do what they say they will do and we never have to worry "will it be right?"or " will they do a good job?" because they always do. No double talk, no B.S. ....they are knowledgeable and have the credentials to back what they tell you. We have gone here for years and will continue to do so and we always refer family and friends. Good people, great workmanship....piece of mind for our car repair issues.......

I found Shelby Auto Care on Google this morning....needed quick help with a leased car that was about to be turned in, and they were glad to help! John called before I was back to my office with an idea of what he thought was wrong....and I had the car back a few hours later. Do NOT pay attention to a few of the crazy reviews you may see---by all accounts, these guys are true professionals and hard as it is to find a trustworthy auto shop, I think I may finally have. Check them out Decent people who treated me very well today. Thanks John.
