The staff member on duty gave me a tour of the facility, the customer service was prompt, polite, friendly, and courteous, and overall a positive experience. Still, I have the nagging feeling that they may have used strong-arm high pressure sales tactics to convince me that purchasing insurance was required, as they were closing the sale. There is still some confusion as to whether or not insurance is actually voluntary or mandatory, since the insurance agreement form uses the verb "I elect" which generally might connote or imply that it was voluntary. They gave me a brochure explaining the allegedly "mandatory" insurance (of course no time to read it while presently in the high sales environment), but upon closer inspection, on the back of the brochure, the fine print says: "The purchase of this insurance is not required to complete your rental transaction [...] The insurance policy offered by this self-storage agent may provide a duplication of coverage already provided by your homeowners insurance policy or by another source of coverage." Regardless, since I dont have any other external insurance to cover the property being stored in the public storage, I may actually benefit from having this insurance, so its not necessarily a complaint, and in the end it doesnt really matter whether or not the sales person lied, since nobody loses in this situation. Just be aware that it may in fact be a high pressure sales environment, and people (customers) who outwardly appear to be nice people or minorities may potentially get taken advantage of by savvy salespeople. It is of course the responsibility of the consumer to ascertain beforehand if he or she has external insurance so she can decline buying insurance from them if it is not actually needed. The retail environment of course is going to be sales-oriented, it benefits them to maximize the sale.

I have never written a review before, but had to because we had such wonderful service. My family and I are moving to Minneapolis from another state. We set-up a hold for a unit and had to meet the deadline for arrival. Needless to say not all went as planned. On July 8th, 2014 the office was closing at 6pm and we were just going to make it, but made a wrong turn and ended up getting lost. Ramiro called from the PS office to check if we were going to make it. He ended up staying on the phone with us until we found the building. It was now 6pm and we had not started any paperwork. Ramiro was completely understanding and patient. He stayed until nearly 7pm to not only make sure we were completely taking care of but to also walk us around the facility to find the unit that completely fit our needs. Amazing how friendly, informative and patient he was, especially because we had just finished driving over 9-hours and this all could have gone in an opposite direction. Thank you Ramiro, your service was not forgotten and was Extremely Appreciated!!! I do directly apologize to Ramiro from taking so long to write this review, still trying to finish our move. Thanks Again! From the SD Family!

I have used this storage location several different times over the past decade. It has been consistently well managed. I hit a snag recently when I had rented a temporary unit for one of my adult children (not to store them, just their stuff). As scheduled, they removed their belongings, cleaned the unit, forgot to give the 7 day notice, and left the lock on the empty unit. (They assumed it was the storage companys lock. Bad assumption). I realized I had been auto charged for two months since I understood the unit had been vacated. I was not charmed. Shirley turned a negative situation into a positive helping me to evaluate options. In the meantime, I located the "back up" key and was able to enter the unit with Shirley (which was vacant & clean). Shirley was gracious about my misdirected frustration . Im betting she has first hand experience with adult children. Bravo to the management responsible for hiring on-site staff. Ive dealt with various on site personnel here and they have always been customer oriented.

The property manager keeps the only bathroom door locked after office hours. Why would someone that is in business for customer service, treat her, the property manager, treat her clients like that. Not everyone uses their storage units during office hours. Since the property manager leaves at 1800 hours daily, the only bathroom door should be unlocked. The property manager blatantly refuses to allow clients access to the only bathroom after office hours. Office hours end at 1800 hours. Clients can access their units until 2100 hours. There is no leeway with the property manager on this one. If clients have to throw trash into the dumpster in the back, there is no way for the client to get back into the facility, the door locks on the client. The client has to travel all the way around the entire facility, returning to the front of the facility due to the doors lock. There are no access pads on the back doors. None at all. The clients are not given keys for access to the back doors.

We stored goods at this location for 4 years. Our goods remained secure and well-kept in the climate-controlled facility. I should mention that Public Storage did need to fix gate damage to re-establish security once that I was aware of during the 4 years. We took advantage of the flexibility to have a key on file so others could deliver goods to our unit. The ability to access the storage unit at hours of our choosing was a great advantage for us. We found the automatic payment with credit card to be the best way to pay the monthly fee. We tried paying by check for a time, and learned that delay of payment gets you a post-card reminder and a call if you are close to the payment deadline. Mary helped us close out our storage rental. She answered all our questions and explained the procedures to us. She was very clear and professional about the process, and it took only about 10 minutes to close out our rental.

Shirley, the Manager, was most helpful in showing me available units and helping me decide what best met my needs. She also helped me decide what supplies I needed for packing my shipment, and for getting them in my car to take to the packing site. She is very professional and knowledgable of her site and the company. It was a pleasure to work with her. The facility is clean and well maintained. My one concern is that each time I have gone to the facility, the East door has been ajar and does not close securely by itself. It needs adjustment to ensure that it locks when left to swing closed. Also, there is a ridge of concrete on the floor under the garage door opening on the east side that is difficult to navigate when being items in on a movers dolly. In the end, we took boxes in through the adjacent door, which had a navigable door jam that was easier to run the dollies over.

Customer Service is alive and well in Edina thanks to Public Storages representative named Jessi. even though it was past her closing time, she remained not once but twice to help me get the storage unit that I needed. The first time she waited was because I had to arrive after work. The second time she waited was because I got stuck in snow. It was not just because she waited that was so impressive, but the way she waited.. Her voice and demeanor told me that it was okay. She would be there to help me, no matter how long it took. She would make sure of this. She made me feel comfortable, even though she could have been irritated as I was the one making her late..She did not rush me to get out there. She took the time to make me feel important. I cannot say enough good things about her. Thank you, Jessi for being there for me. Dr. Lilli Ann Jeffrey-Smith
