I recently had a billing dispute with Lifetime. So why 4 stars? The answer is within As a point of reference, on a scale of 1 to 5 stars, I use the following curve: 1 star=Horrible. 2 stars=less than good and it does not meet my expectations. 3 stars=good, meets expectations. 4 stars=Great, exceeds expectations. 5 stars=Holy macaroni, How do they do this? I have been a member at the Fridley club for almost 2 years. Overall there is ample space (parking, locker room, workout space, pools, court sports). Specifically why this club exceeds expectations, the commitment of the staff to make your experience pleasant. The child care center team gets 5 stars, specifically Sonia. Jeff in the racquetball area is solid. The cafe is solid and if they make a mistake they comp you a snack. Activities desk staff is solid. I have used the spa service (massage) and it was great. I have had a few hellos with the GM Marco and hes legit. I once saw him dealing with an unreasonable customer who was swearing and insulting the staff. I was impressed at the way Marco handled it professionally but got the point across that unreasonable behavior wont fly. My billing dispute was that Lifetime did not properly submit my insurance reimbursement for dues. I took the issue to Jared. He was able to get me credit for the full amount I missed out on. It took some time but he got it done. Mistakes and disputes are BOUND to happen. Its how they are dealt with and resolved that is important. Shout out to him. Overall, Ive found the place for me.

I like this gym for its 24 hour policy - the only gym of its size I know in the TC Metro that is open that late. I usually show up later in the evenings (11pm and later) as theres less people, and less crowded but still the amenities of a deluxe gym. Mind you not EVERYTHING is open late nights as youd imagine, but the basics (cardio, fitness), weights, and my favorite the pool and hot tub (sometimes) are open. For that and the niceness of the facilities Id give this gym 5 stars. HOWEVER, my complaint is that this is run more like a used car dealership than a gym - and by that I mean they REALLY try to sell you on stuff, even going as far as telling me they "didnt think I could make it" (my weight loss goal) without joining one of their training programs which I was very offended by - I am overweight, but not obese and I have been very fit before, please dont talk to me like Im some senseless glutton. Also, after I joined I kept getting calls asking me to join them even though I was already a member - isnt there some way they can control for this? And lastly, I pay you a monthly membership fee and if Im interested in anything else, Ill come to you. PLEASE dont try to milk money out of me when I go to the gym, its one of the few opportunities in the day I have to mentally relax and the LAST thing I want are salespeople calling me nonstop. And sadly for these reasons I give this place 3 stars - good facilities, great hours, good frontline staff/deskpeople/cleaners but BAD salespeople.

Showers are small and you cant adjust the heads. There was no hot water this morning in the showers or sinks. Female staff clean the mens locker room even when there are several males staff on site. As far as the other patrons go - most are decent - but the weight area is a total wreck, you have to either sort through the plates on the racks to get one you need or walk around looking for the last place something was used because very few people actually put the stuff back where it belongs. Update: the patrons of the weight area during the day are marginally better during the day time, but not much. I have also filled out health insurance paperwork twice in 6 to 9 months and have seen no monthly reimbursement from my insurance. I called and they said "I see no insurance information on your account, are you sure you filled out the paperwork?"...So, will I turn it in again and wait yet another 2-3 months? The filing process much be difficult for this paperwork.

I normally visit Lifetime Fitness at White Bear Lake (former White Bear Swim and Racquet). However, due to a remodeling project underway, I decided to visit Fridley. Dont get me wrong: this is definitely a Lifetime. But its missing all the small touches I became used to at WBL. No curtains in the showers, no eucalyptis oil in the steam room, no toiletries, chlorine pool instead of salt water, a jillion unused tennis and racquetball courts, etc. While it has the "Lifetime Look", it is also incredibly bare bones. There are so many members there, that one almost feels anonymous. WBL has a more community feel, one in which being with your neighbors is a natural part of being in the club. Fridley/Moore Lake Lifetime is the largest athletic facility I have been in. Its daunting. Its not for everyone. I am happy to pay an extra $20/month to get the amenities, extras, and personality of a "Platinum" membership at WBL.

I love this gym. The front desk workers are polite & quick, the group fitness teachers are knowledgeable & fun, the cleaning crew is helpful & hard working and the cafe staff is friendly. The group fitness options are great (and free with membership). The gym & womans locker room are huge and kept clean. I love the food offered at the cafe; I get my dinner to-go frequently. I was a life-guard at a community center for 5 years, so I can be rather picky about clubs and their staff. I am happily paying $20 more per month for this club over the one I left (crap tiny strip mall gym that I hated going to). Ive been a member since 2010, and there have always been curtains in the womans showers. I cannot speak for the mens or family locker rooms though...

Great gym! Its a little on the pricey side I think, but the amenities are there, definitely. They upgraded and repaired the steam room, which is great since it needed repair. Most, if not all of the clientele is great and the equipment and locker rooms are always very clean. I come for the pool to get 95% of my exercise and it is almost always spotless although they should definitely have someone skim it a little better between rushes. The only thing I would change are the hours for the outdoor pool. I get it, its dark. But Im paying quite a bit of money and I work in restaurants. Every once in a while I want to take in a night swim outside. I dont think thats too much to ask, right? Id even sign a waiver if thats what it took.

Lifetime fitness is a fantastic club with all the amenities and normally well maintained. What i can not understand is why Fridley does not do something with the unsafe stairways from the pool to the locker room. "Caution Slippery when Wet" They should also fix the railing which is also loose, more than likely from myself and others falling down the stairs while trying to hang on! I will be sure to respond to corporates letter to myself asking if there is anything that can be done to improve the clubs. I have been to Frideley a couple times in the past three years. Im from out of town. This is a common knownb problem. I would change the rating to four stars if this isssue was fixed regards Bill Hoffman
