Not bad for ~$30 per month. Good equipment (squat racks, power racks), but no bumper plates. Lots of cardio equipment and machines. Decent locker rooms. Can get crowded from time-to-time, but I almost never have to wait for equipment. Lost two stars for customer service, specifically the personal trainers. I was talked into a session with a personal trainer after I signed up, which I thought would be a good idea since it had been a while since I last worked out. I told the manager who talked me in to the session that I just wanted to check form on some lifts and get a baseline fitness assessment. He said that would be fine. I show up for the training and lo and behold, a 19-year-old gym bro with a ponytail brings me to the middle of the gym and subjects me to a bunch of weird (and in my opinion unsafe) exercises. The trainer was VERY pushy when I said I wasnt interested in his services. Especially since he thought if he worked with me 1-2x per month I could get "shredded like him". Later, I found out the trainers work for a 3rd party (not LA Fitness). The LA Fitness manager neglected to tell me that. I also thought the sales people were pushy when I signed up, although I was able to get them to reduce the initiation fee.

THIS IS A MUST READ REVIEW! I am usually an easy going person, especially having worked in customer service industries. Extremely pushy sales people. They didnt stop calling my wife. Almost to the point of being harassing. We cancelled our membership after not even 24 hours. Travell (?) at the New Brighton location was very unprofessional when it came to us cancelling. The reason we cancelled was that we were lied to by TWO different employees at Two different locations about the rates, (New Brighton and Brooklyn Park) one of them being him. When confronted, they called us liars. Despicable customer service. While we were standing waiting, a women came in with a child for the kids club, (which is an additional monthly fee) the front desk staff laughed between themselves and said, "she is going to be pissed to find out the kids club is closed" and they watched her walk to the other side of the gym without informing her! There was even more stuff that completely turned us off from this place, too much to keep in one review. Will never have a membership here

I have belonged to the club for over 4 years, it seems to get worse every year. The plumbing in the womens bathrooms is always backed up. My partner decided to cancel their membership. Instead, customer service cancelled my membership on accident. It was a huge to do to correct their mistake. I had to physically go into the club to have them fix their own customer service error. They cannot fix the issue over the phone because credit card numbers are not stored in the system. Months later Im still being charged for 2 memberships rather than one. When I called and asked for this to be corrected, Im told the manager has to call me back. The customer service is frustrating terrible; nothing can be done in a simple step. The staff is nice enough. However, the company needs to teach them to make apologizes for their errors, take steps to allow staff to correct these kind of mistakes via phone and refund the mistaken charges in a timely manner.

Terrible service. After being a member for several years, I was called out and harassed by the operations manager, Tyler, for a 20 dollar outstanding payment. I asked if I could workout and meet after to clear things up since I had to talk to others on my account. No dice. He continued to insist that I contact everyone on my account immediately and clear everything up on the spot (really?). Turns out the whole issue was due to a billing mistake on their end. Go figure. I talked to the manager, TJ, not much help. Instead of apologizing and ending the debacle, he chose to argue about the situation and passionately defend Tyler. That ended in me asking to cancel my membership. Turns out he was not even able to process the cancellation. Go figure. Honestly, I was very embarrassed for both of them. Nice gym, incompetent staff.

Obnoxious customer service.. OBNOXIOUS. Creepy swimming pool.. Muggy cardio space.. and I felt like I was at a meat market when I toured the place. The rate they cant write down? that you have to join within 24 hours to receive? The salesman called me about 5 times in 2 weeks telling me the $19.99/month was expiring. Thats right, the same rate that expired within 24 hours was still available, 2 weeks later. From the time I walked in the salesman was the "big man on campus" and once we sat down to "talk numbers" I felt like he was trying to strong arm me into joining. Ish. Once I told him we joined the YMCA he made a stab at the competitor saying he doubted they had a better facility.. yeah, OK..

Good trainers, Dishonest membership sales (Justin). Went in to sign up and we had talked through the different price points. Everything was done on his computer and I could not see the screen. I made specific inquiries on price per month and enrollment fees and was told an answer. The problem: that was not what was in the contract. The contract itself is a joke - you are not even allowed to read it before you sign it. You sign on a small screen (like a credit card) before you are even given a copy of the contract. The sales people are shady at this location. Go to Roseville: the staff is newer, but at least they are not dishonest!

A fantastic place to workout and helpful staff. I have been a member for 9 months and my experience has only been positive. Clean ( I frequently have conversations with ckeaning staff), great showers, I can always get on the equipment I need. I have a program with both weights and cardio and machines always available.I workout all times of day and night and there has never been a problem with crowding. Training staff has walked by and stopped when I am lifting to see if I have questions. The front desk is always welcoming, most know me by name and always say goodbye as I leave- I strongly recommend!

Its a great facility at an attractive price. I have attended multiple classes and really enjoyed them. The trainers were knowledgeable and very courteous. I really like LA Fitness for its coverage through out the Twin Cities. Having been a member for three years and working out at the New Brighton, Roseville, and Hopkins facilities, I have been pleased with them all. The only issue I have ever had is every new year in January parking can be difficult. But this would be true at any other fitness club.

Very pushy sales people. They always tell you that you have to sign up on the day you tour because the rate will go up if you dont. This is not true. I told them I have a friend who is a member, and the sales guy pulls up my friends information, turns the computer screen towards me, and displays all of my friends information...name, phone number, picture, and how much they pay. Very unprofessional, and probably against the law.

Worst gym ever.. I signed up for the cheapest membership plan I can get and I kept getting paid 50 dollars every single month and I though it was the cheapest until I found a friend of mine and said that this place is cheap for 30 and I was surprised when he said it was 30.. I talked to the manager. He said the guy that signed us up went to a different location.. They said that they couldnt do anything about it.. sad
