When I found that there was a host of data lost after a simple installation of an external card which turned out that I did not needed in the first place, Computer Revolution staff claimed that as if I had started a system restore and completed at the time of the installation of the USB card and system check. I was told my computer crashed during the final stage, but that employee quickly recounted by saying everything is fine after a system restore. For the record, it was my computer that no one has access to do the restore which the store told me someone else did. First thing I found missing was all the downloaded Amazon music, which turned out did not require a special technical knowledge. Soon, I discovered 13 month worth saved e-mails and save documents were nowhere to be found. A business manager volunteered to do the delete recovery at no cost, and to reimburse me the cost of card installation as well, despite the fact I will keep the card. I decided to give it a try on these seemingly sensible suggestions to my dilemma which the business manager initiated. I then took in the desktop for a recovery task. Again, I did not have an access to my daily computer use for additional 5 days. On both promises, they failed to deliver. When I got my computer back,I realized delete recovery was lengthy but useless. I could not open any of 2,337 files (47.7 GB). Besides days of without use of computer for the recovery, which caused a great deal of inconvenience, the so-called recovered files was simply a no recovery. I wonder why the files were not checked before delivering the computer. When they realize the recovery attempt was a failure, they asked additional time to work on it further. After 2 weeks, Computer Revolution informed me it could not be successful. I did not see there was a genuine effort on their part. When I came to a conclusion that Computer Revolution posses rather a limited capacity and failed to deliver a satisfactory outcome, despite a promise by an owner, I decided to share my experience with the public. It has been a nightmare I do not wish the unsuspecting consumers to go through it. Now, I am going to replace this infected computer of mine with a new one. Sigh!

Ok! This is really a long story so let me start at the end. THIS PLACE ROCKS! Each employee in their white (and wrinkled) shirts showed both their knowledge and their street-smart approach to helping customers. Within minutes of entering the front door my new-best-friend Joe greeted me. Joe asked what I needed and then get this--- waited until I finished my sentence before asking additional questions to help me figure out the issue(s) with my computer. Bad news is that I had to leave my computer, my baby, my life...... but as promised they called when they said it would be ready and I went to pick it up. Enter Kyle- a fast talking geek that wont be your best friend but will be your computers BFF. He helped me get reaquainted with my computer and spent over two hours helping me reconfigure (if that is the right word) my outlook to my Verizon phone. I went home one happy camper on Friday. Then over the weekend--- I so didnt get what all needed to be done-- so I went back on Monday and enter Mee. Brilliant, saavy-- both technically and interpersonally. While he did stuff to my computer we talked about a book I just finished... Steve Jobs. While I waited for something on the computer to run he showed me Jobs Stanford Speech. Good use of my time and advanced my knowledge. I will be back for more personal interaction with these smart people that invested in me and care about me.

UPDATE: Since I cannot remove this post, I want everyone to know that i talked to the folks @ Computer Revolution and we have resolved the issues that I had. They were very cordial and understanding and worked with me to come to a conclusion to my satisfaction! THANK YOU Computer Revolution. ================================== Took computer and 2 external hard drives in with Cerber Ransomware virus. Asked to have computer tower checked for any possible data, then remove virus by reinstalling Windows 10. Also asked that both external hard drives be checked and if no data found, to have them "wiped" clean. Picked them up two days later, took them home and plugged them in. It appeared that the only thing that was done is the reinstall of Win10 (which I could have done at home myself & much cheaper). The icon they put on my desktop that said "BACKUP" had maybe a few files in it but mostly it was full of the "XJYH!702S#XS#.cerber" files, which is what I asked them to get rid of. They "looked at" the hard drive and decided it was "fine." While there were folders on the hard drives, ALL the files within each folder were "cerber" ransomware files and they were STILL THERE. They didnt wipe them at all. SO I wait until Monday, call the IT support guy and he says he wasnt told to wipe them. Very frustrated and most likely wont use them again.

The company laptop shut down and off this morning. Nothing I could do to turn it back on. This laptop had only been bought about 3 weeks prior. When it was brought back to Best Buy (from where it was purchased), the Geek Squad associate looked it over for damage, found none. Hit the power button a few times, plugged it in, hit the power button again. Then declared to me that the laptop was defective and needed to be sent to the manufacturer under the manufacturers warranty. Which would be a 2 - 3 week process. This does not work to run a business without a laptop for 2 weeks. It was suggested by a co-worker to go to Computer Revolution (formerly Computer Renaissance) in Roseville. Granted, I was a bit frantic when I walked in the door, but the staff immediately set to task to help me. While talking with an associate about services and prices, the owner, Mark Sommerfeld came over. Mark asked if he could try a few ideas first, he checked out the laptop, worked on it a bit, and the laptop magically turned back on. I double checked my files, and they were all still there. All-in-all, I was in the store for about 10 minutes; walked in with a Geek Squad labeled "defective" laptop, and walked out with my laptop working like nothing had ever happened! I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone!

Two months ago, I brought in my laptop. They charged $110 for the diagnostic test. They said they couldnt find any problems. I brought it in on the 90 day warranty a week later when the problem persisted. Same answer. Two weeks ago, the problem progressed to the point of not being able to use my computer at all. I brought it in (on the warranty again) and it took them a week and a half (after telling me it would take two to three days) to tell me that they thought the hard drive and mother board were failed/failing. They then offered to "recycle it at no charge". My computer is a MacBook Pro. They told me that they had a Mac expert technician who would work on my computer. I did not trust/believe their diagnosis. I took it to the Apple store and they diagnosed it in five minutes (computer revolution was wrong, as I suspected), and the Apple repair shop had it completely fixed and back to me within three days. I dont know about PCs, but DO NOT trust these people with Mac products. They clearly do not know what they are doing AND they try to take advantage and "recycle" computers without any compensation. I was disgusted with their service/lack thereof.
