The first time I went here I had a great experience. Although, the stylist seemed to be in a hurry, she did take the time to talk with me thoroughly about my hair and how I wanted it cut. She gave me a great quality cut and I was very happy with it. The next time I came back to see her she again seemed to be in a hurry. She simply asked how I wanted it cut this time. I told her I would just like a trim, but slightly shorter on my top layer. That was all she asked when she began cutting. After she cut the length she started trimming my layers at a 50 degree angle. I was horrified that she would never ask me if that was ok as she did not cut my hair like that last time. She also cut my top layer way too short. It took me a month to grow it out to where I could finally work with it. A month is a long time to hate your hair. The next time I went in I used another stylist for a color and a cut. I told her about my top layer being cut too short last time. She must have forgot as after she have gave me my color, she cut my hair the same way it was cut before! I was furious when I got home to discover again my top layer was way too short when I specifically told her!!! These stylist at this salon really need to stop and ask and listen to their customers especially for the prices they charge!!!!!!

I am absolutely THRILLED with my last hair service at Salon Ultimo. I have been going there for several years (I think about 6) and am completely loving my hair stylist Amy H. She is friendly, with a warm personality and is a great listener. She has an uncanny ability to take in all the information I give her about what it is I am trying to do with my hair and turns out results beyond my expectations. She has always demonstrated a solid knowledge of color and cutting techniques that leave me completely confident to just let her do her thing. The scalp massage is icing on the cake. The salon itself appeals to me with its warm decor, natural wood tones and nice lighting. Other salons Ive been to are stark in comparison. The staff has always been very friendly and accommodating. I dont think there has been one time where I wasnt offered something to drink when I arrived. I get a sense that there is a truly wonderful group of people behind Salon Ultimo striving to provide a charming experience every time. Keep it up! I am always looking forward to my next visit.

I have been coming to Salon Ultimo since it opened. Every 6 weeks I drive from the Mankato area for my hair cut. Occasionally I will also get a manicure or a massage, But my primary purpose is to see my fantastic hair stylist Lisa, and the wonderful receptionists like Vicki and Suzanne and all the rest. It is like coming home to family when I arrive. The receptionists are so helpful is scheduling my appointments or accommodating me if mistakes are made on my part. I have never met Lisas children but feel like I know them as we always talk about them on the visit. And she is always interested in me and my activities. One thing that impresses me about Salon Ultimo is how professional all of the people are yet so personable. Never once in all these years have I ever seen any of the employees not looking great. Thanks you for all the wonderful years of service. I hope I can continue to make the drive to Salon Ultimo for many years. You are a 5 star salon.

I thought the shop itself was very nice looking and I liked the atmosphere. I had a hair color and while it was a nice experience, I didnt think it to be extraordinary. A previous reviewer had mentioned getting a hand massage or something - my lady left while I was waiting for the color to set to meet with another client, and I kind of felt like she didnt really feel comfortable with me or something. However, I did witness a stylist doing a consultation with a young girl, probably around age 10, and she was so caring and just handled the girl so well. She even taught her how to brush her own hair. I think it it a step above a chain type place, but not quite the "spa" level. I will probably return.

I am quite picky when it comes to spending money on my hair. Its an investment, and I have left feeling dissatisfied far too often. At Salon Ultimo, I immediately had a positive vibe with the layout of the salon. I only got a haircut, but that experience was amazing! My hair needed fixing at the time, and Amy Heinen fixed it and then some! I went back for a brow wax, which was equally incredible! Today, Im going back for a foil and cut, and I have been anticipating this day ever since I left my first visit! You wont be disappointed! Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and truly care about the customer experience! Well done, Salon Ultimo!

Fantastic, unbeatable service at a mid-price salon! Im a busy working mom and athlete- and I love this place. They dont try to oversell you and you never feel pressure to buy extra things, but at the same time they are innovative and predict solutions to hair care problems without you needing to articulate or do any research! Ive never been so impressed with the professionalism, fantastic service, and environment. Ive moved all over (NYC, the south, California, Europe, etc) and this is hands-down the best salon Ive been to. Will be a customer as long as Im in MN!

I LOVE Salon Ultimo, but mostly I love Dez there. Ive been seeing her for years and she is THE BEST. She really gets to know her clients, their styles, what they like, etc. and she provides services that meet the clients needs. I also love that shes not afraid to tell you if she doesnt think something will look good on you (based on skin tone, face shape, etc.).
