The older black woman named Miss King here at the Gladstone Post Office has a horrible disposition. I went in to apply for a passport this morning, and in front of a packed post office she loudly gasped when I pulled out my birth certificate saying it couldnt be used because it was torn in a couple places. I pointed out to her that the small tears didnt affect any information on it nor the State seal or watermark. She got mad that I challenged her and began to raise her voice (again showing off for the audience of customers). When I asked to speak with a supervisor she changed her tune then and accepted the birth certificate. Although another lady was ahead of me in line Miss King called me ahead of her after about 20 minutes of waiting. I pointed out that the other lady was supposed to be next in line. Miss King snarled "Im gonna get YOU out of here!" When it was time for my payment for my expedited passport and I pulled out my certified check for $170 she then said that the check needed to be for $184. This was not correct I told her as I got the quote directly from the US Dept of State themselves. Again she didnt like that I challenged what she had said and she rudely tossed me back my paperwork and called up the next person in line refusing to answer me about how it came to $184 and not the $170. I went out to my car and called the passport people and they told me that I was correct that the check should be for $170. She asked me to go in and hand the phone to Miss King if I needed to but to tell her she was incorrect with her pricing. I told the lady on the phone that that lady is angry enough already for no reason and that I would just drive ALLLLLL the way out to the Grandview Post Office instead to handle my business. It was an inconvenience but I drove out to Grandview, and guess what? No issue with accepting my torn birth certificate. And guess what the price was? $170, exactly what I had my check made out for and which Miss King in Gladstone shouldve accepted as payment but she was so bent on causing a scene and attempting to embarass me in front of the crowded post office that she did not perform as a professional and intentionally quoted me a bogus price and refused to listen to anything I had to say. This woman should be fired or at the very least re-trained. This is 2017, and attitudes like hers have no place in todays workplace. #[email protected].

I go to the downtown KC Post Office almost every day and the people there are very friendly. Occasionally, I have to go to the Post Office closer to my house in Gladstone, and almost without fail, its a terrible experience. Mrs. King as it said on her name tag had such a bad attitude, that she even wore a pin that says Im having a bad day where she could switch it to good with a thumbs up, or bad with a thumbs down. I was the very first customer too so its not like she had even had time to have a bad day. She told me I had to sign the back of my credit card (even though I said Ive never been asked to do this in my hundreds of experiences downtown), and she hands me a GREEN SHARPIE since the pen didnt work. She threw my do not bend packages in the bin, and when I told her I had some mail to pick up as I held it while on vacation, she grabbed a piece of paper with an address and just slapped it down without an explanation that its where I needed to pick it up. I actually got a big ol smile on my face when she printed the receipt and said I could complete a survey on my experience, which I did. She does not need to be in any customer-facing position, period.

I work near this post office and frequently have to go there and i hate it. There are maybe two to three people there that are actually ok and seem to have a good work ethic but the rest are so rude and bitter that I try to avoid having to go here at all if i can. Not to mention the fact that my workplace and others have had several problems with even getting our mail at our offices. We were told at one point that the mail person would not be coming to our office to pick up mail unless they had some to deliver! Obviously thats very damaging to our business as we have mail going out every business day and not necessarily being delivered everyday. I waited from Monday to Thursday before i give up and took two whole boxes of mail to the post office and demanded to see the post master, who apologized and got a different person to drive to us who we like a lot more. The new one actually comes into the office instead of making just a quick drive by and he is always friendly and tells us to have a good day. but even he cant make up for all the other awful employees and poor management at this post office.

I dropped off a pre-labeled box to this post office on October 18th. I was returning a pair of boots to Victoria Secret and they provided a label for the return. The experience itself was not horrible, but the result of my drop off has been. I called V.S. to see if they had received the package the following week. When I called, they said they do not show a scan of the drop off. I was floored! It had already been a week. She told me to call back in a few days and check on it again. I did so on Nov.1 and they had just scanned the package for arrival the day before, Oct 31st. How is this possible, if I dropped the box off almost 2 weeks before that? I just checked the tracking again today and it hasnt even gone out yet. What is going on over there? I am so upset because I need to buy Christmas presents and Im waiting on this post office to do its job and it doesnt look like they are concerned about anything getting anywhere. Beware and do your USPS business at another office if you can!

The outside use to be a shinning example of the Pride of the government. Now it looks like an abandoned Getto facility. Barely mowed, pot holes and falling stone on the stone walls! Looks shabby. They have on new young counter person and hes doing. Great job compared to the old petrified ones that could barely move that use to be there. I know theres cutbacks but when theres a dozen people waiting youd think they could have two counter people! Last week I dropped off five envelopes with bill payment in them, one was a lot of money so I took it inside and mailed it in there where I thought it would be more secure. 7 days later no one has received the mail. Called the Gladstone branch, their phone said " mail box is full " called main branch and the gave me the Gladstone mangers number and still no answer! Dont know hat to do?

Every time I go to this post office it is another bad experience but this time topped it off. I went in and was 3rd in line. The only guy there helping was the supervisor and to the two people in front of me he was talking to them like they were idiots and when it was my turn nothing was different. He raised his voice at me twice and then when I had to get back into line because they AGAIN didnt have the boxes there I needed to not have to ship something weighing less than a pound in a flat rate box for $12.35. While I was still in the office he was complaining about all of us and how WE were the problem when in fact it was him. I recommend never going there. If they are nice it will take you 30 mins to mail something even if there are only two ppl in line.
