I spent a huge amount of money here in less than a month (over $1,600) on extensions (the hair & the application), product, color & a cut (not to mention the cuts & colors in the year before this incident). When I had issues the owner wasnt at the appointment to look or handle the problems & I wasnt informed they wouldnt be there until right before my appointment (when I had already driven an hour to get there). I was repeatedly promised by my stylist that one of the owners would follow up with a call and some sort of compensation. 2 weeks later & I still havent been contacted. If I spend that much money & they arent concerned enough with proper follow up and customer satisfaction then I dont know what will do it. Although they seem to be concerned with answering their reviews & maintaining an online persona so maybe someone will actually contact me if I write a review. Because I can only use so many characters, the basic summary is this: before getting the extensions, I asked a lot of questions, explained I had extensions before that werent tape that didnt work, I was assured they would be fine & no one ever had them come out. 5 different sections came out over 2 weeks with limited washing and careful brushing. I made multiple trips to the salon, I used high end products but still had issues. Then I was told sometimes people do have them come out in between appointments. I was also told upfront the extensions curls when wet but it looked horrible with my naturally curly hair and really fake. When I did arrive at my appointment to discuss fixing the issues with my extensions, the stylist was 45 minutes behind. There were no clear answers about what was going on with the hair or how they would make sure it stopped sliding out. Evidently the owner told her on the phone that I must have oily hair, so she should wash it and reapply them. My hair isnt oily at all, and my stylist agreed there was no build up or oil issues that would cause the problems with the extensions. Then she told me I should make sure there arent sulfates in my shampoo, despite never telling me this all the other times I asked about how to care for the hair since it was such an investment...but when I showed the bottles to her she couldnt tell me if they had sulfates or not. Because I didnt trust the salon and their services ongoing, I opted at that time to have the hair removed, which she did and then sent me out without my hair being washed or styled, reeking of the chemical spray used to loosen the tape on the extensions. The only decent service at this salon is the curly cut. The owners made their own curl care line so the salon pushes that. Dont be fooled by their claim to have the best extensions in Kansas City. Dont waste your money on their color services, they are overpriced for the hit or miss quality you receive. Obviously dont assume that they will care about your experience even if you spend a large amount of money with them. I would only recommend them for the curly cut and even then advise you to proceed with caution when dealing with the receptionist.

I dont usually write negative reviews but this has been bothering me quite a bit. Ive always been very skeptical of trying new salons and since I just moved downtown I needed a new place to go. I saw that Roca had really good reviews so I was pretty excited. I called and made an appointment which was relatively easy and quick. So when I arrive at my appointment I was pleased with the overall look and then my hairdressers assistant greeted me. I had a picture of what I wanted and it wasnt anything too over the top. I just wanted a simple ombre/baylayge. The stylist assured me that my expectations we definitely achievable in one session. So she does my hair pretty quickly, and I was surprised because I have long hair and quite a bit of it. So after is all said and done, my hair looks lighter but I really didnt see much of a difference. My stylist didnt really try to style my hair just a simple blow dry, which is fine but for the money I would have expected more. Afterwards, I go and pay and the receptionist tells me that I owe $200!! I was expecting to spend a bit of money but for the amount of work and the overall outcome of my hair I thought that was ridiculous. After I get home and I take a closer look at my hair I notice that the quality was horrendous. As Im looking through my hair, Im noticing that it was so patchy there are horizontal lines that should have been bleached, but since she rushed through it I guess she didnt saturate it enough. Like I said I dont usually complain, but I was told that the girl I was seeing was their color specialist and teaches classes. This was a few weeks ago, and I obviously dont have money to fix it since I spent an arm and a leg. It still just pisses me off just to look at my hair. Oh and on a side note, dont offer that first time clients get a free brow wax or chair massage when they dont. I wasnt even offered anything. I would not recommend this salon to anyone.

I went for my very first bikini wax at the beginning of May. I called ahead and asked the price because I couldnt find it online and the receptionist assured me that it would cost $35. The first appointment was made but they called and canceled for whatever reason but it wasnt too big a deal because they called me back and made a new one. I went and got my wax and it was great and I thought for $35 Im happy to be a regular. I came back 3 weeks later and assuming all was still the same, I brought $40 to pay for the wax plus a tip. I got the service done and went to the checkout where the receptionist told me that my total was $70! Everyone was staring at me and I felt awful because I only had $40 cash on me and luckily I had a card to back me up but all in all it put me in a bad place. I would have never come back if I had known it was actually $70 and the first time I came it got rang up wrong and the receptionist was wrong when I called ahead to ask. Extremely frustrating, embarrassing situation, and waste of money considering I hardly had any hair down there because it grew back so slow. Definitely not worth the $70, maybe the first time it was but not this time. Needless to say the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. When I called to speak to a manager and let them know what had happened, the woman I spoke with (I believe her name was Michelle) was very rude and kept saying how glad she was I called but the tone of voice she had definitely didnt convey that. She tried to gloss over the problem by saying I should be grateful I saved half off the first time because of the mistake, regardless of the fact that I would have never come if it had been $70 from the get go. Never mind the fact that their whole thing about giving new guests a gift bag and what not is definitely not true. It was not an experience I want to have again. Needless to say, I wont be going back.
