Had a Group-on from Them. Went in for Oil Change, Tire rotation and a set of Wiper blades. Issue 1- Non-Co-operative or adjusting to customer needs>> This is not the first time, but they refused to give me wiper blades and insisted on putting them on Car. Then I asked them to Put my old blades in car (as they still had life in them) They misplaced the Hooks that fit those blades on (I suspect intentionally). Also on my earlier service I had Coupon on my Mobile but he refused to scan it and asked for print out. I said ok I will get it but he refused to release my car back without paying the whole amount. I asked if he will do adjustment later, they refused that too. Refused to provide me drop off to my home 1 mile from their shop. Issue 2 - I suspect of inappropriate business>> After Oil Change, Tire rotation they told me car and everything was good, I may need brake pads in some time. But after that my car started pulling towards left. I went in again and they informed me that My current front tires were worn out and un-even. That was surprising as they rotated tires and did not notice so "Evident" wear and tear. Refused to rotate tire back at no cost and suggested new tires. UPDATE: I went to 2 other mechanics in area and They told me Tires are in perfectly good shape. I need alignment re-done. My car was good before the tire rotation and there is no way it gets misaligned just because of rotation unless due to neigligence or intentionally mis-aligning it. Very unhelpful manager and I suspect they mess with your car so that you come back, especially if you use coupons or Group-on so be cautious

Please please please, I implore you to NOT do business with this Car-X (which is in Maryland Heights, despite this saying Hazelwood). I took my VW in for a routine oil change, and they botched it, leaving me on the side of I-44 on my way home Memorial Day weekend around 5:30. After I called the manager, Jeremy, he said he would send a tow truck to bring it in and they would fix it. An hour later the tow truck came and as we went back to Car-X, i tried to call jeremy only to discover that he had LEFT. So much for "fixing" it! So I was once again stranded and scared to drive my car, which was undrivable anyway. I had to get home to OKC that evening, so I went to the closest rental place at the airport, rented the only car they had left and drove home. Talking to the general manager of all area CarXs AND corporate did nothing. After many email exchanges and phone calls, their snide bookkeeper, Dennis Lorson, refused to compensate me for my expenses after they screwed up my car. He also would not let me talk to the general manager, John Sturgis. I had it towed on Monday to the VW dealership, where it was discovered CarX used the WRONG filter, and they knew it was the wrong filter, and jammed it on there to make it work anyway. Ridiculous, and I will NEVER EVER EVER go to CarX again, and I tell everyone I see about them and their shoddy business practices. Dont use CarX!

I have been going to the Dorsett location for several years now and they were always great until the last two times. This last time was the final visit I will make there. In the past they were always honest and forthcoming about work that was needed or not on my car. I was a loyal customer because they didnt spend their time trying to get me to spend $$$ that wasnt necessary. This time they really tried to make up for past misses. Wow, Told me I needed about $1,000.00 worth of work done to my car to get it to pass inspection. I was puzzled because it had not been giving me any problems and there was no sign of problems when I took it in 3 months before for oil change. I know things can go bad within that time but I left went to another garage that was highly recommended for honesty. Didnt say a word about the failed inspection, note it wasnt the emissions that failed. This guy passed it. I then brought up the failed inspection. His comment there are all kinds in this business. Just want to warn everyone. New employees at this place and they are not doing the business well. They should have kept Steve and the other mechanics.

Took my car in to have muffler replaced at 11 am. Was told there would be an hour waiting time. An hour later I was told the whole exhaust pipe needed to be replaced and that it would take an hour to an hour and a half. I said Id take a can home. They drove me home. By 2:50 pm I still had not heard from them and I called back. They said the parts had been sent to the wrong shop and the muffler had still not arrived (Note: this was four hours after I brought it in). Still didnt hear from them so I called back at 4:30 pm. They still were not finished but said it would be 10 minutes and that someone would pick me up. Ive got to say that this is the worst customer service that Ive seen in quite a while. I will never, ever, use a CarX again. I use Valvoline all the time to have my oil changed and I like their service but I am very surprised to find out that CarX is associated with Valvoline. Do yourself a favor and dont count on these people having any respect for you as a customer. Go someplace else -

Absolutely do NOT go to this Car-X. They do the stereotypical auto mechanic upsale. For example, they quoted me near $400 ($110ish for the part, $300ish for labor) to replace a front ball joint which they said absolutely HAD to be done at their shop with their own press and would take a ~master~ mechanic 3 hours to complete. A relative was able to change it in his garage in a hour and a half with a cheaper, higher quality ball joint for $75. They also vaguely stated on my safety inspection I had a leaking exhaust system that needed a $10 welded patch which would take about 10 minutes to install. When I went back for the reinspection and to have them do the patch weld job, it was all of a sudden inaccessible and they needed to replace the entire pipe for nearly $250. This place is the living example of the stereotypical auto mechanic upsale joke. 1 star simply for having friendly front desk service. Beware.

My step daughter just took my car into car x . Put me on the phone with the mechanic who gave me a song and dance routine of this and that on a problem that was solved on problem common to my year Taurus. He had given her a price of $189 to do a particular service, which she took as being the cost of repair. After quizzing him on the phone, he could not guarantee the price of anything, they would have to get into it to determine the total amount of problems. It was a set up. He was as nice as pie until I made it clear that I would have to have my mechanic take a look at it when I got back there. Then he was very rude to me and her. She could not believe how he changed sooo fast from nice to rude. Stay away. The few good stars were probably back when they did seem to have a good guy. The recent ones are probably theirs or their friends.
