Hi my name is mike. I used to come here a lot a couple years back with party of six or more. Yesterday evening I want there again with a party of six which was Friday night 01/22/2016 and when we got there it was pretty empty from how I used to see it before especially on a Friday. I guess people are starting to realize that they were getting ripped off so Thy decided not to go there anymore. But I dont blame them at all. The main thing I noticed when we got the Bill how expensive it was ,and just to remind you the party of six are three kids and three adults and we started breaking down the bill to see what was going on, The first thing we noticed was The soda that used to be 2.50 . And the most we would pay at any other place is 2.50 for a glass of soda, and we can drink as many refills for free. But not here at the Brazilian Grill now the soda went up to 5.00 dollars a glass, and five dollars for every refill, that is crazy , which we didnt know that the refills wasnt free until we got the bill, so just in soda alone on our bill was 95.00 dollars. And the rotizio wasnt all that like before , before they used to bring you a very big selection of all types of meat.and that used to be 22.00 dollars a person . Now its 30.00 a person ,Friday night if we got five or six different types of meat that was a lot, and let me tell you for a party of six with three little kids and three adults , the bill was $320 thats unbelievable, because they Put the gratitude automatically on your bill also , and they add it with the biggest percentage 15% . Which I think that is wrong, I think you should be the one to decide what the percentage should be 5 , 10 ,or 15% should be your choice not theirs. Me my wife and my mother-in-law was very disappointed with this place , my wife is going to make a big article about this place and how people are getting ripped off, as for us we would never go back to this restaurant again. I hope people are reading this before they go to this restaurant called the Brazilian Grill on Monroe Street in Newark,New Jersey 07105

I meant to give it four stars but it wont let me change it. I was just there yesterday and I thought it was good. Im Portuguese-American. I thought the food was good, I felt I should have ordered the all-you-can-eat salad bar buffet but I got shrimp in a white wine garlic sauce came with fries and white rice) for $17. I think everything is fairly priced. The average price is probably $15-$20. The salad bar (which contains fruits, veggies, noodles and rice, and some meats) was $17. The rodizio which is the attraction of the restaurant I think is about $27 per person. Decent deal if youre hungry. For those who dont know what that is, you get to eat from the buffet, plus the servers come around with meat and keep cutting you pieces until you turn your table turner to red. So you basically get your all around variety of food (btw hence why the floor might be a bit oily, but come on what do you expect?). Plus they have live Brazilian and you get papo-secos (portuguese rolls) & butter! Yumm Oh, and the restaurant has its own parking lot and a guy who parks your car for free (they accept tips though). Just remember its Newark, dont leave fancy equipment hanging around. Oh! P.s. I didnt think the food was too salty and even though Im Portuguese (apparently we like salt?) Im a bit picky with over salting. Perhaps just bad luck? My food was cooked perfectly.

I cant help but feel totally ripped off by this place. First, 99.9% of the restaurants I go to dont charge for soda refills. If I had known this place does charge (NOT noted anywhere on the menu) I wouldnt have spent $10 (3 refills over 2 hours) on soda. How much did those sodas actually cost them-maybe 75 cents? Sorry, but most places charging $2.50 for soda actually include refills. The 2 coffees we ordered came in cups (not mugs) not even half filled, so we ordered refills. Again we were charged for all of it. Total of another $9. If the first cups came at least 3/4 filled we would not have felt the need to order refills. I have never been to any restaurant where a party of 2 people had a 15% gratuity automatically added to the bill. Again, none of this was noted on the menu. I question if this is even legal. Its not a gratuity if its automatically added to your bill, is it? There was a space on the charge receipt where you could of course add an additional gratuity if you wanted to. While none of this is the biggest deal in the world, I think Im like most people where I just dont like being ripped off. If you decide to go, just be alerted so they dont rip you off too.

Very pleasing to the eye off-the-main-drag restaurant with a most pleasing and courteous seating hostess followed by a young tall gentleman named we believe Alan who was truly accommodating and helpful-non-pushy....most relaxing and cordial. The wait staff who brought the never-ending meats were likewise most cordial and very much wanting to please. However...oh boy-here we go: The meats looked mouth-watering, fresh, hot, and cooked to a brilliant perfection but most unfortunately were very stringy-tough-not easy to chew....AND no matter how hard the staff tried and they certainly did....the meats especially the beef were downright tough...like Brasilia used a poor grade of meat...AND we tried to enjoy it too but NO CEEGAR. Would we do it again? Yes, wed try Brasilia once more if not for the beef and pork but just because those waiters tried their very best to make us happy and did they ever. A great location- ethnic Brazillian-totally a throwback to those days of very proud immigrants....great people but ONLY IF THE MEATS WERE AS TENDER!!

Great casual place to dine without all the fancy restaurant type overhead. The staff were attentive most of the time and were all friendly and courteous. The food runners were all great and made sure to explain the meats they brought over. There were a couple of times which a few people in my group wanted a specific cut and temperature of meat to which the staff quickly brought over. The buffet selection is ample although do not fill up on it otherwise you wont have room for the meats. One thing to note, all the prime meats they bring last after making a couple of rounds with the less desirable of meats so be patient and dont fill up too fast or you will miss out.

We took our sister here for her birthday and the food was so good. We happened to go on a Friday around 8:30 pm and that night there were Brazilian music and dancing. The entertainment added a great relaxation to the atmosphere. There were men playing brazilian music walking around to each table, it was fun. We really enjoyed ourselves. The food is a little expensive but the price of a good time with family is always priceless. If you are a vegetarian then this is not the place for you because they had MEAT galore. There is also a person walking around taking photos for $10 buck, photos came out good. Looked clean, good service and had a great night.
