I am never going here again. I had a lot of front end work done on my car, done by me. I told Pep Boys manager to make sure and check my work before doing the alignment, I even said I would pay for them to check it. They checked it and said everything was good, I got two new tires as well, and an alignment. I went to test drive the car and the steering wheel was an entire 1/4 turn to the right when going on a straight road. I told them this and brought the car back in and they said there was nothing wrong. They also out refused to get the wheel straight. They also refused to give me a print out of the alignment numbers. I went to double check my work, and found out that the LUG NUTS ON THE PASSENGER side tire were LOOSE. This was AFTER them putting new tires on the car, and doing my alignment. I hadnt taken that wheel off since then, then finally checked and noticed this issue. After I tightened and torqued the lug nuts the steering wheel straightened up. So I called another Pep Boys, brought the car there and they found also that my rear control arm was rusted and rear drivers side wheel couldnt be adjusted. Which tells me that this Pep Boys didnt even bother to align the rear. So I had to do the rear control arm, and the manager was nice enough to have the car aligned even though I put the part on, which is against Pep Boys TOS. But do to the circumstances they had to REDO the alignment because of this. I tried confronting the Manager about this, but they investigated themselves and found nothing wrong. Of course. I will never go here again. They checked my car TWICE and the TECH didnt think to even check the lug nuts on the tire??? Or my rear RUSTED and STRIPPED control arm? I will never go here again, not for alignments or tires, and CERTAINLY not for car work, in case its ever out of my comfort area of work. Dont try to screw me over because you think I am a regular joe shmo.

Girlfriend needed new tires, did some research which said they had good prices at this Pep Boys and the cheapest tire installation around Princeton. After purchasing the tires online (they were in store stock) we scheduled the installation and to have an oil change done while it was in. The weekday special oil change was a decent deal and was indicated on her receipt. We elected to pay in-store at pick-up. After we left, she was called and made to believe that she needed to get an alignment with her new tires (all 4 corners). She was smart, told them she would call right back and called me for advice. I told her to say no. Reason why, I had checked her tire wear from inside to outside and it was normal camber wear. She called back and told them no. We then picked up the car together so I could be present when we confronted them about pressuring for an unnecessary service. I politely began by asking them if they put all cars on an alignment rack after a tire change, they said no. So I followed up by asking how they knew she needed an alignment. I noticed the attitude change and they were immediately defensive. An older Indian man was bumbling with his words and avoiding eye contact telling me that the "wear on tires indicates sometimes an alignment but not always..." blah blah. I then noticed they charged the weekend rate for oil change. Thats when I simply sighed, told them I understand the pressure to sell services but that they should have better morals to go with any pride they might have in their work. We got the oil change price reduced to the weekday rate and left, never to return. I still havent found a reputable shop willing to do JUST the work necessary. Hence the 2 stars for relativity. Oh, and maybe a half because the car rides great with the new tires... but that is more credit towards the tires dont you think?

I had four new tires installed on my Subaru Outback at Princeton Pep Boys. I made an appointment in advance, but after waiting for one hour, I realized that they even didnt touch my car which was still on the parking lot. When I complained they slowly started working on it. The 4 tire installation took over 3 hours! After I picked up the car I realized that they didnt even use the color markings showing the heaviest point of the tire, but mounted them randomly. I took the car to the highway and realized the terrible steering wheel vibration at 55mph speed. The next day I went back to them complaining that they didnt do proper tire balancing. They told me that it is possibly something wrong with my suspension and other bullshit. Finally I forced them to rebalance all the tires free of charge. Now the ride was nice and smooth. On the next day I realized a new strange noise from behind, but I thought that I had something in the trunk. The day after the noise became worse and I checked the trunk which was empty. Then I looked under the car and found that the bolt connecting one of the links to the frame was missing! NO BOLT!!! I suspect they removed the nut from this bolt when were rebalancing the tires, and I lost the bolt after a couple of rides. So not only they were unable to do the proper tire mount and balance, not only did they take 5 hours of my time, but they even played dirty games with my safety! Unfortunately, it would be very hard to prove this, so I am still not sure whether I should report this to police. Without a doubt I would never allow any car job at this garbage place, nor would I let my friends use them. Please read the reviews and never ever use this Pep Boys shop for your car job!

Listen to the bad reviews you find here. We have been going to this place for years, despite bad experiences. But today I finally had enough. First of all, I went there in the morning, and saw how the mechanics are pulling the cars into the shop. Its like they are hotrodding them, they have absolutely no respect for other peoples property. Next, they replaced the tire on our RAV4. The tire cover in the back already has a deep scratch from where my wife closed the garage door on it, we are in the process of getting it fixed. But now the cover has a myriad more scratches on it, like it was carelessly placed on the bare floor with the painted side down. We called pep boys, and they told us the reviewed the video and that the mechanic could not have scratched up the cover. But my wife and I just detailed the car yesterday, since we are planning on trading it it, and these scratches were not there, we are both sure about it. I could also list many other instances we had there, such as being talked into doing an alignment after we had some tires installed, pretty sure now that was unnecessary as well, and they often not being able to complete work as scheduled. Also they are really slow, they tell you they are overloaded and when you look at the back the garage is pretty much empty. So in summary, they dont treat your car with respect there, so stay away.
