Ballys is the worst gym ever. Who ever says anything contrary has never been to another gym or just woke up from the medieval times and walked right into Ballys total fitness. And if so that primitive person would probably feel right at home at Ballys. Where do I start? First off it looks like they havent updated their equipment since the 70s. Theres no tv in any of their treadmills, they got tubed tvs hanging up on their walls, and 90% their machines are not even digital, their analog. Ballys does not have a punching bag area, and when I asked if they where ever going to get some, I was told by one of their reps that I can always get one at home. Smh! They only stay open till 11pm, and their steam room and sauna closes even earlier. There is only one alcohol spray with one paper towel dispenser in the middle of the gym, (if there is any paper towel in it at all) no where near to the majority of the work out machines or weights. Im often hesitant to go get some to wipe down the machine before using it, cause after my 20 min walk there and back, someone might start on the machine I wanted to wipe down and use. The maintenance, well there might as well not be, thats if there is any at all. I mean I never once seen any one clean or care for any machine, and the bathrooms and locker rooms are a disgrace. Then they try to force their personal trainers and training on you and make it almost impossible to quit the gym. Well maybe I got spoiled by a real gym like Signature fitness, Retro fitness, or NYC fitness, that when you walk in there you feel like your in the year of the 2000s not the 70s. But in their defense I never looked around before I joined them. They were closer to my new place so I just walked in and joined. I just assumed that since they are a big name that they would measure up to it, but I guess its true what they say about those who assume. LOl Oh did I mention the TUBED TVs hanging up? Tubed tvs man! LOL OH YEA! The personal trainer that they wanted to train me had a bigger gut then I did. WTH LOL And Ballys prices is not better then Retro, its about the same as NYC, and its pennies less then Signature!

You have been warned and believe me I am not exaggerating. I joined ballys over 3 years ago. In order to get an affordable monthly rate you will have to do a 3 year minimum membership which once you sign you will never be able to get out of - even when the 3 years is over. Trying to cancel is impossible. You cannot cancel at a gym you have to go through the main office which is impossible to contact because they hide behind electronic phone messages. Then it recommends you contact them and manage your membership online which gets you nowhere. I finally had to resort to canceling the credit card on file which I did not want to do but they just keep billing my card each month after the agreement ended and after I wrote a cancelation letter to headquarters over 6 months ago! Whats worse is I know they received my cancelation letter because I had my new address in it. My account has the new address associated with it but they just pretended not to deal with the "cancel my membership" part of my official, certified mail letter. At first I was getting frustrated and upset and now I just laugh about how ridiculous this is and how they get away with it. I started Googling bally reviews and was shocked at how many reviews, blogs, i hate ballys, etc sites there are. It was not just me - this company has a super bad track record. And, on top of all that the actual gyms are aweful! First, they oversell the gym memberships beyond capacity so if you are like most people who work until 5 or 6pm youll never be able to get a decent work out in because the gyms are all zoos at that time. I tried going to all 3 different gyms in my area (one was like 25 min away) and they are all the same - incredibly packed! Secondly, they are not maintained well. Treadmills not working, no soap in locker rooms, no paper towels, not enough weights on the gym floor - COME ON! Do not join Ballys. You have been warned but dont take my word for it just do a Google search and youll see what i wish I would have seen before committing for 3 long, atrocious years.

Dont join this gym. Just dont do it. Its dirty, the lines are long, and the contracts are impossible to get out of. I didnt even see my contract until after I signed it, because I signed it digitally, and then they emailed it to me. There was stuff in there the guy didnt mention. For instance: I had to wait a year to get out of it, and you cannot just call and cancel even if you only sign up for a short time. You have to write a letter to the HQ in CA and end your membership. Even if you sign up for a 3-month summer thing, they will not stop charging your card unless you write a letter for them to stop. Then it apparently took a month for my letter to get to the CA office for them to cancel. They have wipe stations set up for you to clean the equipment, but they are usually out of wipes when I go. They offer you a free training session when you signed up. I wasnt interested, so I said no thanks. I got 3 phones calls asking me to set up an appointment, and 3 times I said no. Then one night I was on the treadmill and a guy came over, made me stop, and asked why I hadnt signed up for a PT session yet. I said I do not want one, please stop asking me. It was so rude and annoying. Ive signed up at this gym twice, which was just silly. I think I got amnesia and forgot how crappy it is. Never again, never ever ever!!!

Be care careful with any Ballys Centers, they dont tell you anything about the contract or the terms and conditions and just want you to sign the contract without even discussing the details whats in the contract. This has happened to not just me, but we asked our friend to try joining this gym and they did the same to him. So I guess they do it for everyone. Dont join this Gym is you move frequently Dont join together with friends (as family package) Customer Service is fake, rude and so not cool Watch out for reps KRISTINA, SHAUN , and almost all of them-- Such a good fakers.... And I think its in their POLICY that they should not let the customer know anything about contract They show as if they are getting soo many coupons for you and lessening your money, but actually they r not (Nothing special for you) Read the complete, any papers you would sign (JUST ANY) The other reviews you will read are all left by Ballys people itself (if any good) There are much better and cheaper gyms around folks, I have been REALLY cheated. So just giving you a heads up. Good luck.

Absolutely horrible and Im only paying $20 a month because I signed on under my friends membership and I still dont believe it is a good deal. The machines are old and alot of them are even broken. For example most of the bikes dont work and the stair master machine is an antique. The machines are dirty no one cleans them. Also, the sauna is barely a sauna it never gets warm enough, the steam room looks like it is cleaned maybe once a month if lucky, and the whirl pool is disgusting your eyes literally burn from the steam because you can tell they just pour in the chlorine instead of cleaning it. I just went in to cancel my $20 a month membership and they said it was a $20 charge for them to cancel it. My other option is to mail, email or call a toll free number which I just tried thinking it would be the fastest and safest way to do so. Nope, no one even answers. Ooooooo and ladies if you do decide to join be ready to feel uncomfortable from getting eye-f**ked every time you go in. I will never again want to join a Ballys gym .
