I contacted Albany Roto-Rooter on a Saturday evening (just a few days after Christmas) regarding a drain clog. Within an hour, a friendly technician named Quentin arrived and quickly assessed the problem (main "whole house" trap clogged). Because of a few different options available on how to proceed and fix the problem (easier but messy inside vs. outside access), I decided to think about it overnight and we agreed to deal with it the next day. Without going into detail, I came up with a way to gain access to the clog at a much closer interior location (while avoiding the mess) and passed this idea on the Quentin when he arrived. He agreed that it was a much better route than the typical long-distance "snaking" with his drain auger, and he was able to quickly remove the clog within a few minutes instead of hours. I paid Quentin the quoted fee, although I felt that, considering the ease of the fix and very short time he needed to do it, perhaps I shouldnt be paying the full standard rate. I chose not to make my case with Quentin (who, after all, was not the guy who sets the prices), and decided to do so with a polite phone call to his office the next day. I spoke to Manager Chris and I clearly laid out the whole scenario to him regarding how everything played out. Chris not only heard me out, but agreed that a 50% reimbursement was in order - AND he insisted on personally delivering a check to my home - which he did on the very same day along with a heartfelt apology (although I told him the check delivery and the apology were both completely unnecessary). Now THATS what I call customer service: someone who will hear the customer out, play fair and put themselves in your shoes. Of course I will now, in return, highly recommend Albany/Schenectady/Troy Roto-Rooter for the honorable and admirable treatment I received - just the way it should always be! Steve East Greenbush, NY

I would give zero stars if I could. Last Friday I made the mistake of having rotorooter come to my home as we had been having issues with hot water and water pressure. Figuring the tank needed to be cleaned and would be a quick and easy fix I loved that I could have someone to the house the following morning. When the tech came and I explained to him the tank needed cleaning, he looked at me like i had ten heads and was confused. I brought him down into my crawl space where he began to ask me how my water system worked...major red flag, I mean youre the plumber right?! He worked in the basement for about 10 minutes and came back up and told me he adjusted our hot water temp and that we needed a new pressure tank that would run ~$800. He took my $200 bucks and left. When he adjusted the temp he turned it up to 180 degrees which is not only rediculous but unsafe. Also in the process of that he broke off the valve handle (visible wrench marks) AND now we now had zero water pressure...I mean literally just drops of water in the shower. Furious that i practically got robbed, I called a local guy who came out on a Saturday and fixed the issue and it cost less than Roto-Robbers (the tank needed to be cleaned just like I said). I am beyond disappointed and quite frankly, embarrassed that I gave them my money to do nothing more than cause more issues. Shame!

So.. I called Roto-Rooter with my issue (flooding basement due to main line burst) and the gentleman that answered the phone was great! Told me well take good care of you after collecting all of my information. Told me the tech would be in contact shortly. I did get a call.. stating that they couldnt help me because of a jurisdiction issue. I was told the tech that was covering my area wasnt answering the phone EVEN THOUGH THE SITE SAYS 24/7!!!! This was my first time needing a plumber and I always heard Roto-Rooter was great.. Well here I sit with a flooded basement and no plumber!! Ill never choose Roto-Rooter again!

I called roto-rooter to schedule a preventive cleaning of my main pipe. I expected service in about 2 weeks. To my amazement, the customer rep said she could have somebody there in about 1/2 hr. i jumped on the opportunity and to my amazement, the roto-rooter man arrived in just 15 minutes. Mike was very professional. He cleaned the main pipe of grease and also descaled the u shape trap. He offered to clean the area, if he made a little mess, but it wasnt needed. Mike was very neat. Preventive maintenance is now a sure thing for me and roto-rooter is the team to perform the service

We had an emergency sewer back up. We called for someone to come first thing in the morning, we were accommodated with a am appointment at our Albany residence. Our plumber, Simon came and was absolutley great. He was thankful that we did some prep work for him and quickly went to work. It wasnt a pretty site, yet he got us unclogged and cleaned up the roots he dislodged. He had suggestions that would assist us in the future. He is an asset to your company. Again thanks for the help in our need of crisis. Carole

I called because the shower water was backing up in the down stairs toilet. Called Roto-Rooter in Albany and was told it would be about 3 hours. I was surprised when I was called back after just over an hour and told the plumber is on his way and would be their in 15 minutes. The plumber was very pleasant and explained what he would be doing and he pricing policy. Wing 30 minutres he had the line cleared and the water running freely. If I have problems in the future I will be sure to call the same roto-rooter in Albany.

We realized our sink and drain pipes in our basement were backing up into our basement. We called Roto Rooter and they had someone here in an hour. The tech, Keith, explained everything to us clearly and gave us all of our options and pricing. It turned out to be tree roots in our sewer line. Once everything was draining again, Keith explained all of our options to ensure we arent blindsided by this again in the future. I hope we dont need them again anytime soon, but if we do, I will definitely be calling Roto Rooter.

Needed to make an emergency call and Roto-Rooter was suggested. From the first contact with the switchboard to Keiths arrival, Roto-Rooter lived up to their reputation. Keith was on time, listened to what we said and why this was an emergency for our family, Alzheimers patient, Keith got us up and running again in a little over an hour. He stayed around until we were comfortable everything was ok and that he was sure of his job. If you need plumbing help, call Roto-Rooter and ask for Keith.

Called in the morning and was told someone would show between 2 and 4pm. After calling first, showed up right at 2. evaluated the problem quickly and offered a money saving alternative to a full snake-ing. Everything is working well. Overall, it was a very good experience. Even though we didnt pay the full rooting charge, I think $200+ to clear a drain is a little steep. I would recommend them for their service though.
