If I could give this place fewer stars I would. I dont even know where to start. First I tried signing up online for their $10 Month New Year Special....and the website payment screen was down. I had just watched their commercial on tv, realizing it was the last day to sign up I decided to just go for it. So after trying online for a half hour I decided to call, thinking I would be able to sign up over the phone or some how reserve the special membership price till the site was back up or till I could get there in the morning. I WAS WRONG. First I spoke to Christine, the most vapid sounding and unconcerned store representative I have EVER spoken to. I dont even know if she was listening to me when I was explaining the situation, all she kept saying was "unfortunately our website is down, there is nothing I can do". Really, nothing you can do, or you dont want to be bothered. Clearly she was texting cause I could hear her phone chiming over and over again. So I asked to speak to the supervisor, she said he was not there. Well I continued asking her to find a way to help me until she finally relented and put me on hold. When she came back her only solution was to tell me come in and sign up, I asked her who she got that suggestion from and she said her supervisor Jeremy. YUP, the supervisor who wasnt there. So I asked to speak to Jeremy, he was an even bigger waste of time. Again the only solution her could offer is I leave my house at 9pm and sign up "on paper". I was done with this place but my wife volunteered to drive there and sign us both up. When she gets there she spoke to Christina. Christina wasnt just vapid she was also seemed stoned. When my wife filled out all the information she gave them her credit card and Jeremy (who incidentally isnt a big fan of wiping his nose, eeew) said she needed to use her checking account. My wife told him she didnt have a check on her and asked if she could just give them the number and he VERY RUDELY said no. Clearly Planet fitness had no intention of honoring their $1 dollar down $10 a month New Year Special. Just a completely horrible experience. Also there isnt a main number to call to find resolution because is an independently owned franchise. When my wife asked for the owners email or number Jeremy told her shed have to find it on her own. SIMPLY HORRIBLE.

Terrible, incompetent staff & Ill tell u why. Oh, they say hello & goodbye & all that stuff- but heres what they DONT do- which is much more important. They dont police the weight-training area 4 ppl who think they can hog machines. Ex.s: Twice, in 4 months, I have had confrontations with people using multiple machines as if they own them. Both took place at opening time, 5.30 am on a tues, 7 am last Saturday. The first was with a young guy (Im 60 yrs old recovering fr a heart attack), the last with a woman told me I couldnt use the entire area by the triceps machines because she was using multiple machines. I wont except that; an argument ensued and extremely loud, and extremely vulgar, on both sides. Noone ever came. Like the first time it happened, I had to walk all the way to the front & try to convince the girl that maybe she should leave the front because theres a bad situ. going on. She came & stood there; and said nothing, only that its too early for this - to me - and cant u ppl just share. I worked out, but the cursing & insults continued back & forth throughout. This is is 2nd time it has happened to me bec I wont tolerate driving all the way fr Queens early in the morning to be told by a fellow I cant work out. I have witnessed another near-altercation between 2 other men myself over same issue. Someone is going to get seriously hurt in this place; or a lawsuit will ensue. Since I happen to be a lawyer the thought did cross my mind; but all I really want to do is to workout. Without having to throw down with a some 25 year old. Btw, 3 ppl came up to me after my altercation with the woman & said she does that every Saturday. Worst management Ive ever seen. Hold all the good mornings, and manage the damn gym before someone gets killed or worse. Thanks.

So very true that in life "You get what you pay for." This old saying could be the motto fro Planet Fitness. Yes, 20$ a month for a "full" membership sounds like Santas present under the Christmas Tree, but you also settle for a very very poor gym and service. There is no free weights benches whatsoever, only ONE pectoral machine, and there are 3 let me say it again THREE benches for free weights. The machines are cheap and of poor construction (often broken) and the ceiling have been under repair for months. If all you do when you workout is run and walk on the elliptical, then you might argue with me that this place is awesome. If you however look for a full body workout, do not expect to get it here. The staff is helpful and cordial and Jim who seems to be the manager is very nice, but the truth if the matter is that it remains a very cheap and limited gym. They say "its not a gym is Planet Fitness" but the main point is that one cannot workout the way you do in more expensive, but real gyms, such as NYSC or Equinox. Beware, you are not going to find giant steroid-filled men saying: "I lift things up and I put them down" with a Schwarznegger accent, but youre also getting a very limited workout, here.

I joined in May, so its been 3 months, I have lost 25 lbs, I train 6 days a week, I love this place! My home away from home, My entire family joined after I did. Ive belonged to a few "meathead" gyms out on the Island and what I love here is you dont get the "juice heads" and "lunkheads" here which is great. The staff here is top notch, always pleasant, and promote a friendly atmosphere. Only criticism - could use more room for free weights,- it gets too crowded upstairs some nights where I spend 90% of my training sessions also they need at least one more set of cables and at least another Smith Machine or at least a couple of flat benches with real barbells. But overall this place is AWESOME! UPDATED 6/22/17- its now over 1 year and I have lost aprox 50 lbs, I hate when people piss on planet Fitness "just because" -This place is keeping me focused, and the hell with all the haters.

I joined last week and went today for the first time I opted for a spray tan and hydro massage and tried the massage equipment I was so happy to find out that the machines are top notch and very clean. the cordial coffee and bagels was nice It gave me a chance to meet other members . Im a Spa fanatic and compared to other gyms and spas the planet fitness in Great Neck is a gem. The front desk was busy and the attendant was preoccupied on the phone but a wonderful young guy named Cory came over to help me and explained how to set the machines up to create a water massage that was unbelievable. The only thing missing is a steam room. But I give it a 5 star rating .Only one thing that could of been frustrating is the original front desk person was one of those people who cant answer a question straight and after a bit of me feeling uptight Cory saved the day ..Great Employee
