My Gym" I love this place. It literally saved my life. After I retired, I needed a place to workout and improve my fitness level. The Y had a variety of offerings for seniors, decent facilities, and excellent instructors. A side benefit was all the wonderful, interesting people Ive met and who have befriended me. A large part of my social scene is populated by friends I met here. We could definitely use an elevator and thankfully, a renovated womens locker room is on its way. I recommend the Cross Island YMCA, the crowds notwithstanding.

I want to make a complaint regarding the mens shower room in the lower floor--two shower knobs had been damaged for two months not fixed despite complaints to the night time manager --the response is finger pointing yet problems unresolved. I have been a Cross island YMCA member since 1997, and I hope that this complaint receive immediate attention and resolved ASAP. After all it is very inconvenient for swimmers who cannot take a shower before and after swim, particularly when it is a crowded situation.

I enjoy coming to the Cross Island Y. Im obese so I need to come here, exercise and get my mind right. I take the aqua classes and sometimes use the cardio room. Anyway, I only have one complaint: talking during the aqua classes. It is getting so bad that a number of us members have had to tell people to hush or be quiet. I dont like doing that because we are all grown and should know better. Other than that, I enjoy my time at the Cross Island Y.

In terms of the YMCAs Pre-K program; this program is EXCELLENT!! I am so glad that my daughter got to attend Pre-K at the YMCA. Ms. Michelle is such an awesome teacher, Mrs. Verne and Mrs. Fazia are all wonderful members of this Pre-K program, everyone is professional, helpful, caring, and always willing to work with the parents. I hope my son will attend the YMCA for pre k as well. My daughter had an insightful experience here!!

This will be my daughters 5th year attending the summer cam at the YMCA. I cant say enough good things about our experience here; the councilors are exceptional, they provide a safe, kind, happy enviroment for my child. The staff is friendly and helpful. She enjosed the trips and activites that were provided. I told her she will be going there again this year, and she did her happy dance, Lol.

The treadmills are way too close to each other and there is no stair master. The room with the cardio machines is very small and stuffy. A few times I saw children walking on the treadmill. 1 of the children had on flip flops. No one really walks around to make sure the rules are being followed.

The website is totally different from this place. We just went there to join the membership for my son cause the website said it is $0 joiner fee, but the staff said they dont have this offer even the website said so. And the old lady that works here has bad manners.Come here at your own risk.

great environment - great people - great staff !!! WARNING : Do not expect courteous volunteers when asking a question via phone during the hours of 6 pm to closing on Saturdays.... You will get a miserable volunteer with a nasty disposition ... You have been forewarned !!!

I had a great time working for the YMCA this summer. I had the privilege to use my experience with this company. I enjoyed working with the children and working in the summer camp program. Remember, Unit 3 is the best, because I said so...

Its fun and all, but the gym is rarely open for members to play basketball in. There are usually classes going on in the gym. Other than that, its pretty enjoyable!
