Boxing at its REAList form. This is not just an ordinary sterile "boxing gym" where you come to punch out your aggression and burn off calories, but an introduction to the cultural experience that is BOXING. A place where individuals of all types and ages begin to escape the daily NYC grind of work work work or school, and to express their internal challenges and struggles into a game of personal strategy, mental focus and achievement called boxing. Enter a place, where unlike more work in a "workout gym" they learn a higher purpose of self mastery. EQBC doesnt just coach you in expert boxing thats just only one of its many products. EQBC product to me is a life altering experience, because overcoming YOUR mental state first by eliminating your fears, learning to be more in control and proactive rather than reactive is what we should all strive for in life. Coach Al Alvier has figured out how to "bottle this" and deliver it consistently. I highly recommend the EQBC experience to anyone who has tried any martial l art and thinks that flying rounhouse kicks or submission grappling skills is the answer to mastering the arts.

I went to this gym about a year ago and decided to write a review now. This gym certainly has great things to offer and my 3 star rating certainly doesnt want to undermine coach alvirs place. However, he very obviously favors his fighters that have an interest in the amateur boxing scene and goes out of his way to teach them. This is awesome, but when it comes to the newer members, people who are just trying to learn, and use this skill for self-defense, he is extremely laid-back with his style of teaching. He rarely criticizes or gives the proper fundamentals. He pretty much gives you his "to-do" list and says, go ahead. If you ask for advice you will get it but at the same time its simply not enough for somebody that doesnt have experience. I feel like I would have learned a lot more had coach alvir paid more attention to me! Other than that, the community is great and there are no egos. If you want a good experience, you can certainly find one here. However, I think Alvir needs to be more routine with his newbies.

I have been training at EQBC for over a year now. I have made many friends that I would call family! It is the best training experiences I have ever had and I am a life long fitness fanatic. The coaching at EQBC is like no other! I have attended over 20 amateur events since joining EQBC and I am appalled at what I see going on in the corners of other clubs. Coach Al is a true professional that puts his boxers FIRST and that means the boxers health as well as all other aspects of what is required. He is up to date on all of the latest training techniques, all the best boxing information and can show his boxers how to do something not just explain it. The club has all the equipment required to learn how to box and then some! Come down to EQBC and become part of our family

EQBC Is The Best Boxing Club! I would consider myself your average man, Im married with two kids and work a full time job as an Assistant Principal of NYC Public School. As I have gotten older and been consumed with the responsibilities of life, I have disconnected, like many of us, from doing the things that make us smile and give us life. For me thats boxing. At EQBC, under the coaching of Al, I have been given the opportunity to relive a childhood dream. Unlike other boxing clubs, Coach Al works with everyone and has developed an innovative system to ensure everyone has the opportunity to excel in the sweet science.

Having recently gotten on to writing reviews on google, it wasnt hard to short list the quality places I visited in the past. I trained at East Queens Boxing Club in the Fall of 2015 and attended many of the competitive amateur fights of fellow gym mates. I was always impressed at how dedicated, passionate and down to earth Coach Al is, was and will die being. The gym itself is a tight knit family. It is in my opinion (in a sea of NYC boxing clubs) a true paradise island.

I randomly found EQBC while searching for a boxing gym in my area. From the second I walked in, I felt right at home and never turned back. Every day, Coach Al and my gym mates inspire me to train harder and do my best. Ive trained with boxing coaches before, but Al is a real boxing coach. Hell teach you everything there is to know about boxing. I feel more like fighter after every session and Im not sure what I would have done without the EQBC team.

Great boxing gym. Many reasons to join. Theres lots of real cool people training here.... Coach is always involved with everyone/everything..... and theres always new events happening too.... (training/camping up in the mountains, sparring sessions for the public to come watch (with food & drinks), watching big PPV fights at the gym with fellow boxers. Definitely picked the right gym!

Very good gym. No pressure to spar or compete if that is not what you are in the gym for. No egos just hard work. Friendly environment a place I would have my daughter attend when she is old enough. Al, Bryan, DJ are a few of the coaches and very knowledgeable of the sport of boxing.
