I am 58 years old, have purchased many vehicles in my life time, from many dealerships and private sales. I have also helped in the purchase of vehicles for others in my family. In all my years I have never had a deal go so smooth, so to the letter of exactly what the sales man said would happen. This dealership is twice the drive for me, and worth every minute to have the pleasure of buying this car. I am amazed at their honesty and efficiency. Anthony had sold my son a car after I had sent my son to another dealership and the deal went sour. My son told me about Anthony after he had set a deal with him for his first brand new car, special ordered no less. The deal I was trying to make with another VW dealer went sour also. I contacted yet another local VW dealer and was given pretty much the same story of no availability. The first dealer told me I could not get a car newer than a 2015 in my price range requirements, and may have to settle for a 2014. They also did not have one on the lot, and wanted me to sign an agreement for them to "find" me one. I declined. The second dealer I spoke to on the phone told me they did not have any cars that fit my requirements. I then took my sons advice and called Anthony at the Kingston dealership. They had several cars that fit my requirements so I went to take a look. Not only did I find 2015s that fit what I wanted, and my price range, but Anthony showed me some 2016 cars that were nicer than what I had been looking at and they were in fact within my price range. The original dealer would not even look for a 2016, telling me they could not get me one at the price I required. The car I was looking for was a Passat, VWs nicest largest car. I found one that was perfect, it rides like a dream, has many gadgets and things that I never expected to have, at the price I requested, something I never felt I could get due to what the other dealers told me. I am so amazingly pleased with the car, my salesman Anthony and the rest of the staff I came in to contact with, one of which was George Moylan. George was very interested in making sure I was completely satisfied with my deal, and car. He took some steps to make sure I was. I have never had such honest down to earth service from any dealer. No issues at all. If this Passat holds up like the Jetta I have had for the past 6 years (not ONE thing went wrong with it), I will be a very happy VW owner again. The reason I turned in the Jetta was it was one of the TDIs with the emission issue. As for the purchase, if you want to deal with a reputable dealer, go to VW in Kingston. If you want to deal with a reputable salesman, ask for Anthony Pappalardi. Thank you Anthony. By the way, the Diner you suggested my wife and I go to for lunch was fantastic. Thank you. :)

I made the mistake of listening to the scam artist of a salesperson that was "helping me" when I went to the dealership in person. He advised that he strongly recommended I put a $200 down payment on the vehicle that I was interested in leasing. He had a smug attitude and a know-it-all personality. I walked out of the dealership feeling violated and went to a couple of other dealerships in the area to do some comparison shopping. I eventually found a great deal on a new SUV at All American Ford down the road. I was happier with the way the Ford salesperson treated me and I ended buying a new Ford SUV. When I called Volkswagen of Kingston 2 weeks later, I was given the run-around by the sales person and the sales manager. They were always "away from their desk" and they provided me with a couple of bogus extension numbers when they left me voicemail messages. I attempted other means of contacting the dealership in order for them to process my refund. I used their online chat option, Michael S. helped me and he was totally useless. I gave Michael S. my phone number and email address, he told me that someone would contact me shortly after our chat session ended...no one ever reached out to me via phone or email. I sent a couple of emails and I called the dealership a few more times. Altogether, it took me a month for them to process my refund. Most of it was due to them playing "phone tag" with me. Im never doing business with these crooks ever again.

I purchased a vehicle at VW of Kingston at the end of January. Within the first week of having the car I experienced: emissions failure due to a cut wire, oil consumption problem causing me to refill the oil 3 times, leak in the water pump and a problem with the ignition switch. My car has been receiving service at a separate dealership for 3 weeks. VW has been trying in every way possible to evade responsibility for the costs of these repairs. They are refusing to pay for the cut wire despite this being a PRE-EXISTING condition which is clearly listed under the warranty. On top of that, the GM has failed to return my call after 4 attempts. In addition, a separate manager by the name of Chris Vitellaro utilized his opportunity to discuss these issues with me as a time to be rude and offensive stating, "this isnt Walmart where you can just return a toaster, havent you ever even bought a car before?" Yes Chris, I have purchased cars before. And no, this isnt a toaster, its an extremely expensive automobile which you sold to me defective. In purchasing a car for a dealership I assume the dealership is trustworthy and reputable which VW is proving not to be. I strongly discourage anyone from purchasing a vehicle from this dealership. I not only plan to complete these reviews but to also contact the NY State Attorney General to make him aware of the lack of service and mistreatment at this dealership.

love the car, hate the dealership. i spent close to 6 months researching different brands and models and researching everything under the sun to find myself with ready to buy a VW. it checked off more boxes than other brands for a good price. one thing i failed to research, was the DEALERSHIP. this is the type of dealership that creates the negative stereotype. if kingston volkswagon was the last dealership on earth, i would buy a mule!! i chose them because they were the closest vw dealer, and although they didnt give me the best price, i wanted to buy from the dealer that would be doing the service and have a good rapport with them. it was worth the few hundred bucks difference to have that relationship, but their true colors have been shown and REGRET is all i have left. i now go to hudson valley volkswagon in wappingers and i wish i had bought my car from them. its a night and day difference and i urge anyone reading this who is considering a new or used car from kingston vw to BUY ELSEWHERE! anywhere else. ive dealt with shady dealerships before, but these folks are in a league of their own. GOOD LUCK! oh, and before someone from kingston VW writes a "response from the owner" trying to smooth things over, dont waste the keystrokes. you had all the opportunities in the world to make things right. take your bad review and learn from it.
