I went there after work because of their late hours - that was my first mistake. After walking in the doors, I was taken aback at how the line stretched across the whole post office, back to the entrance - a good 25-30 feet. But, I needed to mail some items that were purchased from me, so I got on line anyway - mistake #2. It shouldnt take 45 minutes to get to the front of the line, even during the holidays! The clerk was oblivious to everyones frustration and continued making idle chit chat as his slowly went about his business. I vowed I would rather go to any other post office except this one. Today, I found out that one of the packages I sent through there was opened and the merchandise was stolen out of it. So, to add insult to injury, I cant even do anything about it because I sent it first class (to save some money since I offered free shipping) instead of spending $7 on priority mail. I tried to call the customer service line for the post office, but it tells me the hold time is approximately 20-30 minutes to speak with a representative. I find this a disgrace to have such a vital service that everyone MUST use, and you cant even speak with a live person. The moral of this review is: ship priority and avoid the Ossining post office if you can help it.

When the post office open in main st, it was said to us that the sevice will be better, it wasn,t Then the hours were extended till 7pm week day and 4 pm weekend, this was because you,ll like to provide a better service to the comunity, well my question is, if the management leaves only one person on the counter on this extended hrs, with long lines , How is it that the service is better??? is worse than ever , besides you can hardly find parking spaces and is because no one enforces the parking rules, everyone park their car to go to the neares store and no to the post office, or many people enter to the parking area from the wrong side, were it said clearly DO NOT ENTER, even the POLICE, that are supposedly fallow the law, NO ONE CARE. Also the people on the counter are so slow, and walk around with no care in the world, I wonder sometimes, are this people getting paid so little that they do no care????? I am asking the Management to pay attention to this issues, they are important. and after all is the management getting paid to do a job? Please do it. it not that hard is it??? Thank angela

This is the worst post office in Westchester County , if the lines are not miles long and the service is the slowest ever, than they turn you away . I went for passport photos , i went in at 5:15pm, and somehow there was nobody on line so i asked my photos to be taken, and the man said to come back in a half an hour because he is by himself. So our 5 minute conversation was on how he wont help me and that it takes time to develop anyway. I was shocked as to there is always such a long wait for any service and noone ever seems to care but when there is noone in the office, they just turn customers away. They probably dont care, they get paid the same amount of money, but what a shame Ossining Post Office will reflect like this on anyone that would walk in there.

In June, they held onto the mail for our street for a month and I when I called to ask what happened to my mail, I had to go to the PO to pick up a big bin of my held mail. The PO said the carrier had been bitten by a dog. So deal the dog & owner and communicate with us!. Why punish the neighborhood. Now Its Tuesday and I still havent received my magazine that came out last Wednesday. I tried to call the PO to ask if our carrier is on strike again. The message said the wait time was 3 to 5 minutes and after 34 minutes on hold they hung up on me. We used to have great service.

Uneducated employees. All of their desk staff that day flat out refused to accept my package for mailing - which was a well sealed and packaged used engine oil sample which I was sending for oil analysis. I had to tell them that USPS themselves created the requirements for mailing Flammable and Combustible fluids and that my package met the criteria for mailability. I showed them ( thru my phone ) the article which was USPS Publication 52 showing that the flashpoint of a used oil is lower than what USPS allows to be accepted for mailing, and the lady desk clerk still refused.

The people working the counter are usually nice, but they are slow and there is always a long line, never less than 5 people. Notice that the average visit, it says here, is 20 minutes. I almost never go there and when I do I have the same horrible experience every time no matter the time of day or day of the week. Lots of people send letters and packages overseas from this post office. so that can be time-consuming. And then there are the passports.... They need more counter staff!!! I have no complaint about the individual, though.

Terrible experience. Line nearly out the door, the one person behind the counter must have been covered in molasses mixed with cement, he was moving so slowly. None of the other employees we saw would deign to open a register. If youre looking for an old-world experience, back when people were slow and nobody had anything to do in the evening, boy have i got the nostalgic olde poste officeeeeee experience for you. Swear I heard one of the delivery horses neigh from the back room...

Ridiculous! They dont look at the information and started forwarding my mail before the start date. Thanks a lot! Then act like impatient jerks when I try to solve the problem! Sorry Ossining Post Office- you messed up now you need to fix it! Shame on you. Get your act together. Glad Im leaving Ossining for this reason (among others- the PD and Fire Dept. are pretty rude and feckless too)

Horrible management, customer service and quality of local post office. I have two packages that said "delivered" that I have never seen. 3 people working in a post office, 10 people in line, only one employee working the counter. Other worker just glance at the line and continued his more important task rather than customers first! Worst USPS I have ever been in.

All post offices have a rough job: its not always easy to deal with people who are in a hurry and forced to wait in line. This one does most things very well and and they do it nicely too. In 16 years, Ive never experienced anything here that would warrant negative reviews like some of these.

The phone rings and rings - no one answers it. Call back several times - they let it ring and finally when they get tired of hearing it ring they pick up and hang up on you. Operations and Services are absolutely awful - who lets a US Post Office operate this way?

Counter person did not scan my package with pre-paid postage when I dropped it off at the counter. Thats lazy. However, he did have time to chit chat and hold up the line. Looks like Ill pay more for UPS next time.
