I first contacted Nick to fix my laptop that was infected with the FBI virus and locked up the computer. I use my computer all day for my small business for internet, Quick Books, and email. I am handcuffed without it. After searching for local repair shops and reading every review about them, i luckily found Nick and his fees were much better than any other service. I wanted to know who was working on my computer due to the business information that could be accessed. He was able to fix it the same day and i picked it up late that night. He discussed with me about using other virus protection and CPU cleaning software. I was using Mcafee and it did not block the virus. With the new changes to my anti-virus software i have not had any other problems and my cpu is a lot faster. That was 6mths ago and still going strong. Two weeks ago my wifes computer locked up, with a couple viruses because she was finishing out the Mcafee subscription. Because of the fact that both of us own our small business together she was just as distraught about not having her laptop for work. I called Nick first thing that morning and was able to drop the cpu off with Nick, he fixed the viruses and installed better anti-virus software and i was able to pick it up the same day/night!!! That to me is amazing!!! If you own a small business and need your computer to survive you will appreciate how fast Nick works. Nick is local, so he stands behind his work and makes sure you understand how to avoid future issues. Hes Great!!!

I have a Dell XPS laptop that was in need of a new hard drive. Nick did a great job and at a very reasonable price. I was hoping to leave another 5 star review here but unfortunately my laptop (which has a brushed aluminum lid) acquired two quite noticeable scratches on the lid while the repairs were made. One scratch is about 2.0-2.5 inches and the other is about 0.5-0.75 inches in length. This probably happened when the laptop was upside down while the drive was being replaced and something hard with sharp edges like a screw was between the work surface and the aluminum lid. I made brief mention of this issue when picking up the laptop post repair but I doubt much could be done to fix it short of finding a used unscratched lid. Overall though, I am extremely happy with the fact that my laptop is now exactly as it was prior to the drive going bad especially since it wouldnt even boot up anymore when I dropped it off with Nick. Luckily I had a good recent system image and backup on an external hard drive to be restored from post reinstallation of Windows. I was also happy that the new drive that he installed was of good quality and from a reputable brand (Western Digital 750 GB). I recommend that anyone with computer repair needs in the Raleigh area call Nick for help. With Covey Computer Service and Repair you know exactly who will be working on your machine from start to finish. He is also very patient and happy to answer any and all questions you might have about computers.

I just showed up looking for Nick not realizing that he works out of his home (you should call first to set up a drop-off time), but he was a good sport about it and talked with me about my laptop while he waited for his next scheduled customer to show up. Nick never rushed me while I explained what was going on with my computer and he asked questions to be sure that he understood the issues. He did a great job of explaining what was probably wrong with it and what those repairs would entail. He took down my contact information so that he could keep me appraised of the status of my repairs. Nick did a pretty good job keeping in contact and updating me on my laptop. It was a mess which caused repairs to take longer than expected. He made sure that I knew what was going on and what he thought was causing it. He gave me options and his opinion on how I should proceed. I never felt pressured to choose one way or the other and I felt comfortable that he had my best interests at heart. He even didnt charge me for an error that he made while working on my laptop which I appreciated. Ive had my laptop for about 6 weeks and I am pleased with how it is running. Nick helped me with some software to keep my computer running smoothly and so far so good! I would highly recommend him to anybody.

My antivirus software had been non-operational for a year or so and I was unaware of this. I started getting strange things going on with my computer, they progressively got more annoying until I could not use my normal internet interface Firefox. It was like something took over my computer. I was totally frustrated and started looking for some help. I had used other computer experts from the big Box outfits but really was not confident they could solve the problems. Fortunately I found Nick Covey. He was very understanding of my situation and I felt he knew what he was doing. He was very responsive, and very thorough. I gave him my computer Friday, July 5, and he solved all my problems and returned it on Saturday July 6. He found several viruses and other malware and got rid of them. That is great service. My computer runs like new, what a relief. And continuing with his excellent service, he installed a suite of programs that will keep me protected from all the virus, malware, and other culprits in the future. Nicks service charges were more than fare and less than the value he provided, in other words a great deal for what was provided. If you have computer issues Nick is the man to see.

My wife and I had a business computer die; the screen seized up and rebooting only returned a black-and-white text screen. We werent up-to-date on data backups, so we were anxious to find a computer tech with data recovery experience. Some searching through Google led us to the 5-star rated Covey Computer Service. Theres a lot that I could say about our experience with Nick, but the short version is: he deserves the 5-star rating. He was very accommodating when scheduling our initial appointment (4PM on Saturday afternoon), His prices are clearly laid out on his website, hes very knowledgeable about computer hardware and software, and hes very communicative about the actions he will take with your PC. Its clear that takes pride in his work and does the best he can. Dont worry about pricing; he is very reasonable. As far as scheduling goes, Nick had our computer from Saturday 10/11 through Monday 10/20. Granted, ours was a special case which required some extra effort on his part - so I expect his normal turnaround time is a few days at most. If you have any kind of computer issue, call Nick and let him work his magic. Youll be glad you did.

Nick is fantastic! He helped me tremendously and showed a great deal of patience and tolerance for my techno-ignorance. He recovered data from my failed computer, helped me buy a new computer and a combination printer/fax/copier/scanner, loaded the recovered files to my new computer, and set up the new computer with several programs to keep it protected from viruses and running efficiently. He created a special toolbar to make it easy for me to use all the programs he installed. As an added value, he reviewed all the procedures I need to follow to keep my computer protected and offered one no-charge consultation to answer any questions, resolve problems that arise, or to assist in any way necessary. I had friends who took their computers to the big box stores with problems and they really never got full resolution. I was fearful about trusted sources and my experience with Nick has proven to be very positive. Id recommend him to anyone, even a stranger.
